"The UN and counter-terrorism. The evolution of a global fight"
No full textThis book traces the evolution of the UN Security Council’s actions against counter-terrorism and extremism. The work examines the progression of the UN Security Council’s fight against international terrorism and its development of practices to prevent radicalisation and extremism. It also looks at the consequences of these processes and how they have deeply moulded global counter-terrorism. The book looks at the discursive construction of a global threat and tracks how this construction evolved in relation to the Council’s establishment of legal practices and bodies, and by its Members’ discourses. It argues that the very specific definition the Council provided on international terrorism in the 2000s is profoundly shaped by global hegemonies, relations of power shaping the international community, and its own identity. To demonstrate this, it offers a long genealogical perspective of the structure of the UN since the 1930s and then focuses specifically on the developments taking place in the 2000s. The book thus looks at the Security Council’s fight against international terrorism as a global, globalised, and globalising enterprise. The feasibility and acceptability study of a positive psychology group intervention for people with severe psychiatric conditions
No full textArtículos en revistasEl proceso de recuperación en el campo de la salud mental puede mejorarse promoviendo el bienestar. Las terapias de tercera generación promueven la aceptación sin juicios de los problemas, así como el desarrollo del bienestar y las fortalezas personales. El objetivo de este estudio fue comprobar la viabilidad, aceptabilidad y la eficacia de una intervención grupal para mejorar el bienestar en personas con trastornos psiquiátricos graves. Los resultados mostraron que el protocolo era factible y altamente aceptable, mostrando altas tasas de asistencia y adherencia, así como una alta satisfacción. Al finalizar la terapia de grupo, los participantes informaron de una mejora significativa de la autoaceptación y de una disminución significativa de la sensibilidad interpersonal y la depresión. Los resultados indican que la terapia de grupo de psicología positiva puede ser una poderosa estrategia complementaria para las personas con trastornos psiquiátricos graves. Aunque la validez del estudio está limitada por la falta de un grupo de comparación, el presente estudio permitirá optimizar los procesos del ensayo y realizar un futuro ensayo de control aleatorio definitivo.The process of recovery from mental health can be improved by promoting wellness. Third-generation perspectives promote non-judgmental acceptance of problems as well as the development of a person’s well-being and strengths. The aim of this study is to test the feasibility, acceptability and effectiveness of a group intervention to improve well-being in people with severe psychiatric conditions. Results showed that the protocol was feasible and highly acceptable, showing high attendance and adherence rates as well as high satisfaction. On completion of group therapy, participants reported a significant improvement in self-acceptance and significant decreases in interpersonal sensitivity and depression. The results indicate that positive psychology group therapy may be a powerful complementary strategy among people with severe psychiatric conditions. Though the validity of the study is limited by the lack of comparison group, the present study will allow for the optimisation of trial processes and a future definitive randomised control trial.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
