ASSESSMENT AND INTERVENTION STRATEGIES FOR CHILDREN WITH HEARING IMPAIRMENTS IN SIDOARJO
Objective: This study aims to explore the characteristics of children with hearing impairments and design suitable intervention strategies to support their development at UPTD Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus Sidoarjo. Method: A qualitative descriptive approach was used, employing observations and interviews, and guided by the TEACCH-based assessment matrix to analyze each child’s strengths and weaknesses. Results: The findings indicate notable strengths in sound detection, while significant challenges were observed in sound imitation and social interaction. Based on these assessments, individualized learning plans were formulated through collaborative efforts among teachers, parents, and therapists. A structured and consistent approach, including environmental support and periodic evaluations, was shown to enhance the child’s confidence and improve educational outcomes. Novelty: This study contributes to the limited research on region-specific interventions for children with hearing impairments in Indonesia, emphasizing the integration of TEACCH-based assessments within inclusive education frameworks. The collaborative model presented serves as a replicable approach for optimizing support systems and tailoring interventions to meet the evolving needs of children with special needs
CYBER SECURITY OPERATION AND BASIC EDUCATION MANAGEMENT IN NIGERIA
Objective: This study investigates the current state of cybersecurity operations and their integration into basic education management in Nigeria, with a focus on identifying benefits, threats, and operational challenges. Method: Employing a qualitative research design, the study conducts a comprehensive review and synthesis of existing literature to examine the interplay between cybersecurity and basic education systems. Results: The findings highlight that integrating cybersecurity into the management of basic education enhances the protection of academic records and personal data of students and staff, while also strengthening institutional integrity. However, the study identifies several challenges, including inadequate funding, limited cyber infrastructure, rapid technological changes, poor personnel training, data management complexities, staff shortages, and risks from third-party and supply chain vulnerabilities. Novelty: This paper contributes to the academic discourse by presenting a contextual analysis of cybersecurity issues within Nigeria’s basic education sector, offering strategic recommendations such as increased funding, infrastructural support, inter-agency collaboration, and targeted capacity-building initiatives to improve cybersecurity integration and resilience in educational institutions

SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION OF A NEW SCHIFF BASE POLYMERS AND EVALUATION OF THEIR ANTICANCER ACTIVITY
Objective: A novel bis-Schiff base was synthesized through the condensation of benzidine with 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde. Method: This precursor was subsequently subjected to polycondensation with phthalic and terephthalic acids, facilitated by ZnCl₂, yielding two distinct polymers designated P1 and P2. The structural integrity of P1 (derived from phthalic acid) and P2 (derived from terephthalic acid) was rigorously confirmed using FTIR spectroscopy. The spectra distinctly showed a strong imine (C=N) stretching vibration (approximately 1645 cm⁻¹) and the notable appearance of new ester or amide carbonyl bands (around 1710–1720 cm⁻¹) subsequent to polymerization. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) indicated that both polymers undergo decomposition primarily in two stages; however, P2 demonstrated significantly enhanced thermal stability, with a decomposition onset near 300 °C, compared to P1. The potential anticancer activity of P1 and P2 was evaluated against human breast cancer (MCF-7) cells employing MTT viability assays. Result: Both polymers exhibited dose-dependent cytotoxicity. Notably, polymer P2 proved to be more potent, displaying an IC₅₀ value of approximately 138 μg/mL, whereas P1 showed an IC₅₀ of about 173 μg/mL. It is noteworthy that these IC₅₀ values fall within the range previously reported (120–200 μg/mL) for comparable Schiff-base polymers by researchers at the University of Basrah. Novelty: The observed higher efficacy of P2 is reasonably attributed to its more planar structure derived from the terephthalate units, which might facilitate enhanced cellular uptake or interaction. These findings compellingly demonstrate that subtle modifications in polymer architecture (specifically, angular versus linear diacid linkers) can substantially influence both thermal robustness and anticancer efficacy, thereby underscoring the considerable promise of Schiff-base polymers as versatile multifunctional biomaterials

DOES AUDIT FIRMS REPUTATION MATTER? FIRM AND AUDIT CHARACTERISTICS IN AUDITOR SWITCHING ON INDONESIAN ENERGY COMPANIES
Objective: This study aims to investigate the role of audit firms' reputation as a moderating variable in the relationship between company characteristics and audit characteristics affecting auditor switching decisions. The focus is on energy companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Method: The research utilizes panel data from 55 energy companies, selected through purposive sampling from a population of 79 companies, covering the period 2018–2021. Logistic regression and moderated regression analysis were performed using SPSS 26 to analyze the data.
