Objective: Bacterial colonies that live in an exopolysaccharide matrix and adhere to foreign surfaces in a living creature make up the complex biofilm. In therapeutic settings, biofilm often results in nosocomial, persistent infections. Method: This review gives a short account of the ideas underpinning the composition of, production of, and drug-resistant illnesses attributable to biofilm and cutting-edge therapeutic ways to combat and treat biofilm. Results: Antibiotics are insufficient to treat infections caused by biofilm because the bacteria in the biofilm have become resistant to them. Novelty: The use of cutting-edge technologies to handle the challenges posed by biofilm is justified by the high incidence of infections caused by medical devices

A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW ON THE STRUCTURAL AND FUNCTIONAL MODULATION OF THE SKIN BARRIER: A HISTOLOGICAL AND IMMUNOHISTOCHEMICAL EVALUATION OF A MULTI-ACTIVE TEWL-REDUCING FORMULATION

Objective: This review aims to elucidate how a multi-active topical formulation can modulate skin barrier structure and function to reduce transepidermal water loss (TEWL), while positioning barrier biology as a translational framework for formulation science. Method: A comprehensive narrative synthesis of prior clinical, translational, and ex vivo studies was conducted, integrating histological and immunohistochemical (IHC) assessments of key barrier integrity markers—filaggrin, loricrin, involucrin, claudin-1, and ceramide-metabolizing enzymes—with functional measurements including TEWL, hydration, and electrical impedance. A conceptual three-phase model was developed, comprising an initial occlusive/humectant phase, a sub-acute differentiation and lipid restoration phase, and a long-term tight-junction recovery phase. Results: The analysis demonstrates a consistent theoretical correlation between changes in epidermal protein expression, lipid organization, and functional barrier outcomes, particularly TEWL reduction. Methodological considerations for histology and IHC evaluation, including sampling strategies, marker selection, and scoring approaches, are systematically discussed, alongside limitations of existing evidence. Novelty: This review offers an integrative molecular and functional framework that bridges formulation design and epidermal barrier biology, providing a translational model to guide future empirical validation and advanced topical therapeutic development

THE SOCIOLOGY OF CULTURAL ASSIMILATION AND SOCIAL INTEGRATION OF IRAQI ETHNIC GROUPS: A CASE STUDY OF SOME IRAQI ETHNIC GROUPS

Objective: This research aims to study the sociology of cultural assimilation and social integration of Iraqi minorities (Yazidis, Shabaks, Mandaeans) by adopting a mixed methodology that combines quantitative methods (questionnaires and statistical analysis) and qualitative methods (semi-structured interviews). Method: The study utilized a mixed-method approach, employing questionnaires for quantitative data and semi-structured interviews for qualitative insights, complemented by statistical analysis to interpret the findings. Result: The results reveal that cultural assimilation has been clearly achieved through the adoption of the Arabic language and integration into the education system, while structural and political integration remains limited, reflecting a state of ‘incomplete integration.’ The study also highlighted that religious rituals and social ties are effective mechanisms for preserving identity but sometimes reinforce ethnic boundaries. Novelty: The research concluded that overcoming this issue requires comprehensive institutional reforms, including the integration of minority languages into the education system, expanding political representation, and strengthening community networks to ensure greater equity in opportunities for participation and integration.

NOISE-INDUCED HEARING LOSS IN OIL FIELDS

Objective: This study investigates the influence of African Traditional Religions on youth moral guidance. Method: It employs a mixed-methods approach, with data collected from 72 youth participants through semi-structured interviews and structured questionnaires. Qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis and hermeneutic perspectives, while quantitative data were transcribed, coded, and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Result: The findings reveal that a significant majority (67%) of respondents acknowledge ATR ethics as a substantial influence on youth moral development. Qualitative insights highlight that initiation rites, such as circumcision for males and female genital circumcision for females, serve as pivotal rites of passage imparting values of bravery, social responsibility, and communal obligations. Despite modern influences and the decline of certain practices like female genital mutilation, the essence of ATR-based moral education remains integral to the Tanzanian community's social fabric. Novelty: The research contributes to the broader discourse on the intersection of indigenous religious practices and moral education, offering insights into the adaptive resilience of ATRs in preserving cultural identity and fostering community development

A PRAGMATIC ANALYSIS OF IRONY IN SHAKESPEARE’S HAMLET: AN OVERVIEW

Objective: This study investigates the pragmatic foundations of irony in Shakespeare’s Hamlet, focusing on identifying the dominant strategies of irony, the mechanisms that trigger ironic meaning, and the development of an eclectic analytical model grounded in Leech’s and Rajimwale’s principles. Method: Employing a qualitative descriptive design, the study examines selected textual excerpts from Hamlet, analyzing the illocutionary force of ironic utterances through contextual, linguistic, and pragmatic cues. Results: Analysis reveals that destructive irony—particularly sarcasm, hyperbole, and litotes—appears far more frequently than constructive irony, serving Hamlet’s goals of confrontation, suspicion-verification, and social critique. Constructive mechanisms such as satire, pun, and banter occur rarely, functioning mainly to reduce social distance or subtly reform behavior. The findings show that irony in the play operates as a powerful communicative tool used to reveal deception, challenge authority, and expose moral corruption. Novelty: This research offers a synthesized pragmatic model capable of systematically identifying and interpreting ironic strategies in dramatic and narrative texts, providing a transferable analytical framework for future literary-pragmatic studies
