    In recent years, microalgae have been widely used inwastewater treatment and biofuel production. In this thesis study, Scenedesmus sp. microalgae species havebeen proposed to produce bioethanol. Bioethanolis one of the most popular types of biofuels due to its excellent properties. Scenedesmus sp. has been studied for itsbioethanol and carbohydrate content potential, nitrogen and phosphorus removalcharacteristics, and resistance to contamination in dairy wastewater. Scenedesmussp. was grown and cultured in synthetic dairy wastewateras part of this thesis investigation. The optical densities, biomass productionrates, nitrogen and phosphate removals of Scenedesmussp. were investigated by growing microalgae in TAP medium and dairywastewater at initially PO4-P concentrations of 1.5 mg/L, 3 mg/L, 7.5 mg/L, 15mg/L, and 30 mg/L, respectively. Thehighest biomass production rate has been found experimentally to be 132mg/L/day at an initial PO4-P concentration of 7.5 mg/L. The maximum nitrogenremoval effectiveness was determined experimentally at an initial PO4-Pconcentration of 7.5 mg/L. While theamount of nitrogen was 75.03 mg/L at the beginning, this value decreased to1.78 mg/L after removal. The removal rate was calculated as 97.62%.Experimentally, the highest phosphorus removal efficiency was calculated as 96%at an initial PO4-P concentration of 1.5 mg/L. Carbohydrate from these components was used to produce bioethanol, andthe carbohydrate concentration was approximately 4.36 g/L per 10 g/L biomass.The bioethanol content was 2.12 g/L. Asa result, Scenedesmus sp. straincould be used for large-scale bioethanol production in synthetic dairywastewater in the future.</p

    Catalytic performance of Pd-doped polymer-nanoparticle hybrid materials for hydrogen generation through NaBH4 hydrolysis

    Creating an effective catalyst with low cost and excellent catalytic efficiency in NaBH4 hydrolysis for H2 generation will have a huge impact on the field of renewable energy. For this reason, a polymer-supported catalyst was synthesized and characterized for hydrogen generation by NaBH4 hydrolysis. For catalyst synthesis, firstly the clay (K) was given magnetic properties (Fe3O4@K.) Then, Fe3O4@K is functionalized with tannic acid (pTA@Fe3O4@K). Finally, the palladium (Pd)-doped catalyst was obtained (Pd@pTA@Fe3O4@K). The study aimed to use a time-efficient Central Composite Design (CCD) from response surface methodology (RSM) to correlate relationships between the hydrogen generation rate (HGR) and the operating parameters. Under optimum conditions (NaBH4 amount: 3.6 wt%, NaOH amount:2.77 wt%, catalyst amount: 3.29 mg/mL, and Pd loading amount:6.05 wt%), the maximum HGR value was calculated as 5891.34 mL H2/(gcat. min.). Thus, the excellently performing Pd@pTA@Fe3O4@K composite catalyst has significant potential for use in NaBH4 hydrolysis

    VAN İLİ EV (PET) HAYVAN YETİŞTİRİCİLERİ VE İŞLETMELERİNİN BAZI ÖZELLİKLERİ ÜZERİNE BİR ARAŞTIRMA

    Bu çalışmamın amacı, ev hayvanı üreticilerinin yapısal özelliklerini anlamak ve sektöreyönelik öneriler geliştirmektir. Araştırma, ev hayvanı üreticilerinin demografik yapısı,işletmelerin genel yapısı, müşteri profili ve memnuniyet düzeyi gibi konulara odaklanmıştır.Çalışmanın materyalini, Van ilinde ev hayvanı yetiştiriciliği yapan mevcut 22 kişi (20erkek, 2 kadın) ile 2024 yılı mayıs ve haziran ayı içerisinde yüz yüze ve telefon görüşmeleri ileyapılan anket çalışmalarından elde edilen veriler oluşturmuştur. Anket uygulaması, çalışmasürecinde katılımcılar önceden bilgilendirilerek, mahremiyetlerine özen gösterilerek ve yüzyüze yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın tüm aşamalarında etik kurallara ve standartlara riayet edilmiştir.Anket kolaylık açısından 14 bölüme ayrılarak 46 adet çoktan seçmeli sorudan oluşturulmuştur.Çalışma sonucunda elde edilen verilerin öncelikle tanımlayıcı istatistikleri için sayısal ve yüzde(%) frekanslar belirlenmiştir. Yapılan anketler sonucu elde edilen verilerin analizinde SPSS 27paket programı kullanılmıştır.Yetiştiricilerin büyük kısmının yetişkin, erkek ve lise mezunu olduğunu, meslekideneyimlerinin ise genellikle orta düzeyde olduğunu göstermektedir. Yetiştiricilerin gelirdüzeyi düşük gelir aralığındadır. Yetiştiricilerin çoğunluğu ağırlıklı olarak küçük ölçekli vehobi odaklı yetiştiricilik yapmaktadırlar. Kuşlar yetiştiricilikte en popüler tür olup, diğer türlerise daha az tercih edilmektedir. Ev hayvanı yetiştiricilik süresi genelde orta ya da uzun sürelidir.Yetiştiricilerin en çok şikayetçi oldukları konuların mevzuat, tedarik ve yatırım alanlarındaçeşitli zorluklar olduğu, sosyal medyanın pazarlama ve iletişim stratejilerinde önemli bir roloynadığını, ancak hala bir kesimin sosyal medya kullanmadığı görülmüştür. Yetiştiriciler hemsatış hem de bilgilendirme süreçlerinde genellikle birebir ve doğrudan yöntemleri tercihetmektedirler.Küçük ölçekli ve hobi amaçlı yapılan üretimin daha profesyonel ve büyük ölçekliyapılmasının teşvik edilmesi, yetiştiricilerin en sık sorunları olan mevzuat, tedarik ve yatırımkonularının ilgili kurumlarca ele alınarak gerekli bilgilendirme, yönlendirme ve ekonomikdesteklerin sağlanması, memnuniyet ölçümü, şikayet yönetimi, satış ve bilgilendirme içininternet sayfası ve/veya sosyal medyanın kullanımının arttırılması, ve yetiştiricilerinçoğunluğunun kuş üretimi yaptığı ilde, üretilen kuş tür ve ırklarının yapılacak bilimselçalışmalarla belirlenerek elde edilen bilgilerin üreticilere aktarılması konusunda çalışmalarınyapılmasının iyi olacağı düşünülmüştür. Yetiştiricilerin ikinci ve üçüncü sırada üretiminiyaptıkları köpek ve balıklar üzerine de bilimsel araştırmaların yapılması bu türlerin da alternatifüretim olabileceğini ortaya koyabilir.&nbsp;</p

    The impact of earthquake preparedness training on mothers with physically disabled children: a randomized controlled study

    This study aimed to evaluate the effect of earthquake preparedness training on the psychological resilience and earthquake preparedness levels of mothers with physically disabled children. The study was conducted at a special education and rehabilitation center in a province in eastern Turkey between January and April 2024, using a pre-test/post-test control group experimental design. A total of 78 mothers participated, with 39 randomly assigned to the experimental group and 39 to the control group. The experimental group received earthquake preparedness training. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 26. It was determined that 38.5% of the mothers in the experimental group were between 32–39 years of age, equal numbers of primary (35.9%) and secondary (35.9%) school graduates, 84.6% had nuclear families and 89.7% lived in urban areas. In the control group, 38.5% of the mothers were between 25–31 years of age, 33.3% were primary school graduates, 79.5% had nuclear families and 97.4% lived in urban areas. The experimental and control groups were similar in terms of baseline characteristics. Before the training, Adult Psychological Resilience Scale (APRS) scores were comparable between groups. After the training, the experimental group showed a significant increase in psychological resilience compared to the control group (p <.05). Similarly, Disaster Preparedness Scale (DPS) scores were comparable before the training, but the experimental group showed a significant increase in earthquake preparedness after the training (p <.05). The training enhanced both psychological resilience and earthquake preparedness in mothers, increasing their knowledge and awareness about earthquakes. Developing earthquake preparedness training and materials specifically for families with physically disabled children will contribute to the safety and well-being of both families and their children

    Synthesis and catalytic performance of Pd NPs-doped polymer brushes for optimization and modeling of NaBH4 hydrolysis

    Sodium borohydride (NaBH4) is considered one of the most promising materials for hydrogen (H2) production. For this, designing a high-performance and cost-effective catalyst is an important step in developing a sustainable hydrogen source. Here, firstly, cross-linked polymer brushes were grafted on the surface of pumice minerals (P4VP/PMC). Then, Pd nanoparticles were reduced on the surface using the NaBH4 reduction method (Pd-P4VP/PMC). The composition and structure of the catalyst were analyzed using diverse techniques. Response surface methodology (RSM) was used to optimize and model the impact of the main factor interactions during the hydrolysis process. According to the quadratic model obtained, catalyst concentration 2.192 mg/mL; temperature 57.3 °C; NaBH4 concentration 186.6 mM, and NaOH 5.435 wt% were determined to be optimum values using the matrix method. At these values, the maximum hydrogen generation rate (HGR) was 8732.85 mL H2/(gcat. min.) Also, reusability was tested and after five cycles the catalytic activity of Pd-P4VP/PMC was reduced by only ∼30 %. As a result, the synthesized catalyst exhibited relatively low activation energy (26.85 kj/mol) and high HGR (8732.85 mL H2/(gcat. min.)), clearly demonstrating the superiority of Pd-P4VP/PMC as a catalyst for hydrogen generation from hydrolysis of NaBH4
