    Effects of Protocatechuic Acid on Some Hematological Parameters, Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor and Brain Immunohistochemistry in Cisplatin-Administered Rats

    Background: Cisplatin (CIS), a platinum-containing cytostatic agent, has been recognized for its cytotoxic and anti-neoplastic effects on cancer cells. Protocatechuic acid (PCA) has a strong antioxidant activity and the chemoprotective properties of plants containing PCA have also been extensively investigated. The main aim of this study was to investigate the effects of CIS application on hematological parameters, Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) levels in rats and to examine the changes in BDNF levels with PCA application as well as immunohistochemical changes in the brains of all rats. Methods: Forty female rats weighing between 250 and 300 g were used in the study. Rats were divided into 4 groups and each group contained 10 animals as Control, PCA, CIS and PCA + CIS groups. Blood was collected. Serum BDNF levels and some hematological parameters such as neutrophil (NEU), lymphocyte (LYM) values and neutrofil lymphocyte ratios (NLR) were determined. The brain tissues were used for immunohistochemical examinations. Results: PCA + CIS group compared to CIS group BDNF level and LYM amount increased while NRL decreased statistically important. When brain tissues were examined immunohistochemically, negative 8-OHdG expression and negative Bax expression were observed in the control and PCA groups. In the CIS group, severe cytoplasmic 8-OHdG expression and severe cytoplasmic bax expression were detected in neurons. In the PCA + CIS group, moderate cytoplasmic 8-OHdG expression and mild cytoplasmic bax expression were detected. Conclusion: It has been shown that PCA reduces immunohistochemical changes in the brain caused by CIS due to chemoprotective properties, that it can prevent neurogenerative events in the brain by increasing the decreased BDNF level, and that it has a positive effect on some hematological parameters. NLR was found to be higher than the control group in the application of CIS, a chemotherapeutic agent, due to lymphocytopenia, while NLR began to decrease when PCA was administered. According to the findings obtained in this presented study, it has been shown that PCA reduces the neurotoxic effect formed by affecting NLR and BDNF levels during chemotherapy application and helps to follow the prognosis

    Radiomorphometric Analysis of Patients With Osseous Dysplasia Osseöz Displazili Hastaların Radyomorfometrik Analizi

    Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the radiomorphometric parameters of trabecular and cortical bone of the mandible in patients of osseous dysplasia. Methods: A total of 43 patients (40 females and 3 males) patients of osseous dysplasia and age-gender matched healthy 43 individuals (control group) were included in this study. The analyzed radiomorphometric parameters were fractal dimension, mandibular cortical width, and mandibular cortical index. Results:There were not significant differences in the mean fractal dimensions of selected regions between the two groups (P>.005). However in mandible, especially bone quality of condyle region was significantly lower in patients of osseous dysplasia (P .05). The mean mandibular cortical width was 2.3 mm in the patients of osseous dysplasia and 2.4 mm in the control group. Therefore there were no significant differences in mandibular cortical index between the two groups (P> .05). Conclusion: Especially fractal dimension of condyle region was significantly lower in patients of osseous dysplasia. Therefore, precaution is needed before surgical interventions in this region. It was also observed that the bone quality of the patients with the three variants of cemental dysplasia in the mandible was similar

    BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY IN SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT: SECURITY IMPLICATIONS

    Security in supply chain management plays a critical role in today's global trade networks. This study examines the contributions of Blockchain, based on distributed ledger technology (DLT), in enhancing data integrity, traceability, and resistance to fraud in the supply chain. Blockchain's decentralized structure, by recording each transaction in immutable blocks, minimizes the risks of data manipulation and unauthorized access. Studies in the literature show that, thanks to this technology, transparency and auditability have been strengthened, thus increasing trust in the supply chain. However, scalability issues, high energy consumption, and integration challenges with different stakeholder systems are the main barriers limiting the widespread adoption of the technology. The study suggests that these limitations could be overcome with hybrid DLT architectures and formal assurance methods; additionally, real-world pilot applications and regulatory framework developments could help materialize Blockchain's security and operational efficiency advantages. Thus, Blockchain emerges as an innovative solution with the potential to enhance both the security and efficiency of supply chain processes.</p

    UCINET Sosyal Ağ Analizi ile Otomotiv Araç Markalarına Yönelik Müşteri Şikâyetlerinin İncelenmesi

    Bu çalışmanın amacı, otomotiv araç markalarına yönelik şikâyetle- rin çözüm değerlendirme puanını yordayan faktörleri ortaya koymak- tır. Bu amaçla “sikayetvar.com” sitesine üye olan 17 otomotiv araç markasının karneleri analiz edilerek bir veri seti elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen verilerle 17x17’lik matrisler oluşturulmuştur. Araştırma hipo- tezlerini test etmek amacıyla UCINET Sosyal Ağ Analizi kullanılarak Karesel Atama Yöntemiyle Çoklu Regresyon (KAY-ÇR) gerçekleş- tirilmiştir. KAY-ÇR doğrusal regresyon sonucuna göre, çözüm başa- rısının markalara yönelik şikâyetlerin çözüm değerlendirme puanını tahmin etmede olumlu ve anlamlı bir etkisi vardır. Ancak yayımlanan şikâyet sayısı, cevaplanan şikâyet sayısı, cevaplama oranı ve ortalama cevaplama süresinin anlamlı bir etkisi yoktur. Araştırma bulguları tar- tışılmıştır.The aim of this study is to reveal the factors that predict the solution evaluation score of complaints against automotive vehicle brands. For this purpose, a data set was obtained by analyzing the report cards of 17 automotive vehicle brands that are members of the “sikayetvar. com” website. With the data obtained, 17x17 matrices were formed. In order to test the research hypotheses, Multiple Regression with Quadratic Assignment Procedure (MR-QAP) was performed using UCINET Social Network Analysis. According to the result of the MR- QAP linear regression, there is a positive and significant effect of res- olution success on the prediction of the resolution evaluation score of complaints against brands. However, the number of complaints pub- lished, the number of complaints answered, the response rate and the average response time do not have a significant effect. The research findings are discussed
