    SWOT analysis in the implementation of the independent curriculum at kindergarten

    Background: One of the most significant educational reforms in Indonesia is the Merdeka Curriculum. However, despite its potential, many teachers, particularly in kindergarten settings, still face challenges in its implementation and require further understanding of Merdeka Curriculum-based learning. This study explores the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Muslimat NU Diponegoro 81 Kranggan Kindergarten. Methods: This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with SWOT analysis framework was used to evaluate internal and external factors affecting curriculum implementation. Findings: The SWOT analysis reveals that the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at Muslimat NU Diponegoro 81 Kranggan Kindergarten is relatively effective, supported by several strengths such as a strategic location, well-qualified teachers, strong teacher collaboration, adequate learning facilities, and active student participation. However, challenges remain, including a lack of teaching materials, limited teacher training, and varying student skill levels. Opportunities include strong support from student guardians and the Muslimat foundation, while threats involve insufficient understanding of the curriculum among parents, financial constraints, and limited periodic supervision by Muslimat administrators. Conclusions: The study concludes that the successful implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum depends on the collaboration between school leaders, teachers, and external stakeholders. While internal strengths and external opportunities facilitate implementation, challenges such as financial limitations, lack of training, and inconsistent supervision need to be addressed. To enhance curriculum implementation, principals should strengthen leadership and external partnerships, teachers should participate in continuous training, and policymakers should provide clearer guidelines and financial support. Novelty/Originality of this Article: This study contributes to the understanding of early childhood education curriculum reform by offering a practical SWOT analysis of the Merdeka Curriculum in kindergarten settings. Unlike previous studies, it provides a structured evaluation of implementation challenges and strategies for improvement, serving as a valuable reference for educators, school administrators, and policymakers in Indonesia

    Leadership in times of crisis: Local government responses to fuel shortages in Bengkulu Province

    Background: This study investigates the leadership response of the Bengkulu Provincial Government to the 2025 fuel shortage crisis, using the theoretical framework of crisis management and adaptive leadership. The crisis revealed structural weaknesses in Indonesia's centralized fuel governance system, as well as the limited anticipatory capacity at the local level. Methods: The research applies a qualitative method with document analysis, drawing on policy documents, media reports, and statistical data. The analysis is guided by Boin et al.'s five tasks of crisis leadership: sense-making, decision-making, meaning-making, terminating, and learning. Findings: Findings indicate that the local government's response was predominantly reactive and characterized by ad hoc decisions, limited coordination, and weak narrative framing. While symbolic actions such as the work-from-home policy helped to mitigate immediate public dissatisfaction, deeper issues such as logistical vulnerabilities at Pulau Baai Port and the absence of contingency reserves remained unaddressed. Furthermore, the lack of transparent communication platforms hindered public trust and accountability. The crisis termination was premature and unaccompanied by institutional learning or structural reforms, reflecting a failure to transition from short-term crisis response to long-term resilience planning. Conclusion: This study concludes that the Bengkulu case highlights the urgent need for decentralized energy governance, investment in predictive infrastructure, and the institutionalization of crisis learning mechanisms. Local governments must be empowered not only to manage operational disruptions but also to initiate reforms that reduce systemic vulnerability and improve crisis preparedness in peripheral regions. Novelty/Originality of this Article: This study uniquely applies the five tasks of crisis leadership to analyze a provincial government’s response to a fuel crisis, revealing critical gaps in decentralized governance and institutional learning often overlooked in Indonesian energy policy research

    The impact of brand awareness, brand image, and brand trust on consumer purchase decisions: Emphasizing awareness and trust as key drivers

    Background: In this modern era, the rapid and continuously increasing technological advancements each year have led to increasingly fierce business competition, especially in the gadget retail industry. The tendency of customers to consider both products and brands simultaneously when making purchasing decisions increasingly emphasizes the importance of understanding the factors that influence consumer behavior. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the influence of brand awareness, brand image, and brand trust on purchasing decisions at Tiga Putra Kawi Malang City, in order to provide useful insights for the company in formulating more effective marketing strategies. Methods: This study uses a quantitative method with a survey approach, involving 100 respondents who have shopped at Tiga Putra Kawi Malang City. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression to test the proposed hypotheses. Findings: The research findings indicate that brand awareness and brand trust have a positive and significant impact on purchasing decisions, while brand image does not have a positive and significant impact. This indicates that brand image is very important to customers. However, in this study, the level of customer awareness and trust in the brand has a greater influence on consumer purchasing decisions. Conclusion: The company needs to place more attention on efforts to increase consumer awareness and trust in the brand to encourage better purchasing decisions. On the other hand, methods for improving brand reputation need to be further evaluated. Novelty/Originality of this article: This study highlights that in the gadget retail industry, brand awareness and brand trust have a stronger influence on consumer purchasing decisions than brand image, offering new insights for marketing strategies

    Global perspectives on institutionalizing land value capture for sustainable infrastructure planning and innovative fiscal solutions in Indonesia

    Background: Indonesia faces a significant fiscal challenge in funding infrastructure development, marked by a high debt-to-GDP ratio and interest burden that consumes a large portion of the national budget. This paper examines the institutionalization of Land Value Capture (LVC) as a sustainable and equitable alternative to conventional financing. Methods: The study conducts a comparative analysis of LVC implementation models in Hong Kong, the UK, and India, reviewing existing literature and policy reports. These models, ranging from property-based schemes in Hong Kong to tax-based approaches in the UK and national policies in India, reveal how LVC can capture the increase in land value resulting from public infrastructure projects. Findings: The findings demonstrate LVC's potential to internalize the positive externalities of infrastructure development, aligning with classical economic theories and the principle of fiscal justice. By doing so, it can expand the non-tax state revenue base, reduce debt dependency, and strengthen fiscal resilience. Conclusion: This paper concludes that establishing a robust legal framework, integrating LVC with spatial planning, and fostering public-private collaboration is essential. Novelty/originality of this article: The originality of this research lies in its comprehensive comparative analysis of global LVC models, and the formulation of integrated policy recommendations specifically tailored to Indonesia's unique institutional and fiscal context

    Potential of bioactive compounds in Indonesian endemic Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans and Myristica argentea) and their applications in health: An overview

    Background: Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans and Myristica argentea), an Indonesian endemic plant from the Maluku Islands, has long been used in traditional medicine to treat digestive disorders, joint pain, and infections. While Myristica fragrans has been widely studied, research on M. argentea remains limited, despite both species containing bioactive compounds such as phenylpropanoids (e.g., myristicin), terpenoids, and flavonoids, which exhibit antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties. Key challenges include optimizing eco-friendly extraction methods and exploring untapped therapeutic potential. This review consolidates the latest scientific evidence on nutmeg’s bioactive compounds and their health benefits, including anticancer, antidiabetic, and neuroprotective effects, as well as their prospects for sustainable therapeutic development. Methods: The study was conducted by searching PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar using keywords related to nutmeg’s bioactive compounds and medicinal properties. Findings: Findings reveal that both M. fragrans and M. argentea possess significant antidiabetic, antioxidant, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective activities. Extraction methods range from conventional techniques like hydrodistillation and organic solvents to modern approaches such as Supercritical Fluid Extraction (SFE) and Ultrasound-Assisted Extraction (UAE). Additionally, nutmeg shows promise as an antimicrobial and cardioprotective agent, though its psychoactive compounds warrant caution. Conclusion: Potential applications include nutraceuticals, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals, with waste utilization enhancing sustainability.     Household air pollution policy of stunting incidence: A comparative insight of Ethiopia and Indonesia

    Background: Stunting, a condition resulting from chronic malnutrition, has significant repercussions on the physical and cognitive development of children. Household air pollution, primarily attributed to the use of traditional biomass fuels, is a leading contributor to stunting in developing countries. In Ethiopia and Indonesia, household air pollution represents a major public health concern; however, policy responses to address this issue remain insufficient. This study aims to critically examine public policies in both countries link to household air pollution and its impact on stunting. Methods: The methodology employed includes a comparative policy analysis to evaluate the policy frameworks in Ethiopia and Indonesia, complemented by bibliometric analysis to trace trends in scientific literature concerning the link among household air pollution and stunting. Findings: The findings reveal that Ethiopia has implemented policies focused on replacing solid fuels with cleaner alternatives and promoting the use of more efficient stoves in households, to mitigate the health impacts of household air pollution. In contrast, Indonesia currently lacks dedicated policies aimed at reducing household air pollution and its associated health risks, particularly in relation to stunting. Conclusion: Stronger policies and cross-sectoral collaboration are needed, particularly in Indonesia, to mitigate household air pollution’s impact on stunting.     Integration of clean and healthy living behavior and home environment: A holistic approach to controlling pulmonary tuberculosis

    Background: Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious infectious disease that remains a major public health problem, particularly in developing countries such as Indonesia. One of the contributing factors to the high transmission rate of pulmonary TB is the low implementation of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior, as well as poor household environmental conditions that do not meet health standards. This study aimed to determine the correlation between clean and healthy living behavior and the condition of the home environment among pulmonary TB patients at Puskesmas Gattareng, Bulukumba Regency. Methods: This research employed a descriptive analytic design with a cross-sectional approach, involving 38 respondents selected through simple random sampling from a total population of 42 patients. Data were collected using a clean and healthy living behavior questionnaire adapted from Alpul Laely and a healthy house assessment instrument based on criteria from the Indonesian Ministry of Health. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Spearman Rho test at a significance level of α = 0.05. Findings: The findings showed that most TB patients had a moderate level of clean and healthy living behavior (39.2%) and lived in unhealthy homes (57.9%). The statistical test revealed a strong correlation between clean and healthy living behavior and the condition of the home environment among TB patients (ρ = 0.01; r = 0.772). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between clean and healthy living behavior and the condition of the home environment of pulmonary TB patients. Improving clean and healthy living behavior and housing conditions plays a crucial role in TB control efforts within the community.     EcoMoronene: A local wisdom-based conservation learning model to address environmental degradation

    Background: Environmental degradation caused by artisanal and small-scale gold mining in Bombana, Southeast Sulawesi, presents serious ecological and public health risks, including mercury and arsenic contamination. Previous studies highlight the importance of culturally grounded education in promoting sustainable conservation practices, yet few have tested the validity and reliability of instruments designed to measure learning outcomes in this context. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the EcoMoronene Initiative, an educational model that integrates Moronene local wisdom—such as sacred forest stewardship, water resource protection, and biodiversity conservation—into youth-based conservation learning. Methods: A quasi-experimental pre–post control design was applied with 80 participants divided equally into an experimental group, which received the EcoMoronene module, and a control group, which followed regular activities. Data were collected through a knowledge–attitude questionnaire, a conservation behavior rubric, and observation, then analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, Cronbach’s alpha, and confirmatory factor analysis. Findings: Findings revealed significant improvements in the experimental group’s knowledge (mean increase from 6.2 to 8.5, p = 0.001), alongside positive shifts in attitudes and behaviors, while the control group showed negligible changes. Reliability analysis confirmed strong internal consistency (α = 0.86 for the Knowledge–Attitude questionnaire; α = 0.83 for the Behavior rubric), and validity was supported by good model fit indices (χ²/df = 1.8, CFI = 0.94, RMSEA = 0.05). These results demonstrate that embedding local wisdom into conservation education enhances motivation, cultural identity, and pro-environmental actions among youth. Conclusion: research study that distinguish it from previous work. It includes unique contributions, new methods, or findings that have not been explored before in the field. Novelty/Originality of this article: This study uniquely integrates Moronene local wisdom into conservation education, validating reliable instruments and demonstrating significant improvements in youth knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors, distinguishing it from prior research in environmental education

    Eco-intelligent integrated pre-fenton and artificial neural network system for debottlenecking the efficiency of physico-chemical treatment in POP-B3 waste management

    Background: Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in hazardous waste (B3) continue to increase due to industrial activities and are difficult to degrade using conventional methods. POPs can accumulate in the environment and pose serious health risks, such as cancer and reproductive disorders. The PREC-Fenton system has been proposed to enhance the treatment efficiency of hazardous waste, particularly POPs, by combining chemical reactions with energy utilization from salinity gradient power. Methods: The research methodology comprises modeling approaches, research framework formulation, system definition, thermodynamic property regression, model construction, system simulation, financial feasibility study, and simulation result analysis. Findings: The research findings indicate that the PREC-Fenton system is capable of reducing POPs by up to 1,038.8 kg/h with an efficiency of 99%, while producing 176.24 kg/h of clean water and generating 300.17 kW of energy with a conversion efficiency of 40%. The energy efficiency of the ORC increased by 46.13%. System optimization using an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with 13 neurons in a single hidden layer yielded the lowest RMSE values and high accuracy, with R² values exceeding 0.96 for the KP, KI, and KD parameters. The economic analysis showed a break-even point (BEP) at 44% capacity, a net present value (NPV) of USD 125,529, an internal rate of return (IRR) of 33.48%, a discounted payback period (DPP) of 5 years, and a return on investment (ROI) of 190.89% before tax and 114.60% after tax. These results confirm that the PREC-Fenton system is efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly. Conclusion: This study successfully developed an efficient PREC-Fenton system for hazardous waste (B3) treatment, achieving up to 99.99% degradation efficiency of POPs, clean water production of 176.24 kg/h, and energy generation of 300.17 kW.     Optimizing tugboat fleet efficiency in port operations using discrete-event simulation modeling

    Background: In Indonesia, marine logistics is considered a priority sector because 40% of international trade passes through the country, with 90% of it utilizing sea transportation. Therefore, this research aims to determine the optimal number of tugboat fleets operating at Tanjung Priok Port by evaluating the average overall time and waiting time for pilotage activities and towage services. Methods: This study used secondary data sourced from the 2019 Daily Report on Ship Movements by PT. P (Regional 2). A discrete-event simulation method was applied using Arena Simulation software, incorporating a scenario where one chartered tugboat unit was reduced. Findings: The results showed that PT. P already provides effective pilotage and towage services. Furthermore, reducing one 1240DK tugboat unit had no significant impact on the company’s initial operational performance. Conclusion: PT. P’s current tugboat fleet is sufficient to maintain service efficiency, even with the reduction of one unit. Novelty/Originality of this article: This study offers insight into optimizing tugboat operations through simulation modeling, presenting an approach that has not been extensively explored in Indonesian port logistics
