Designing and Construction of a Traditional Hand Bellow Device.

    No full text
A traditional hand bellows is a manual device designed to produce a strong burst of air to fuel a fire. It typically consists of a hollow tube containing a propeller and a piston, which is manually operated. By turning the wheel connected to the axle via the piston, the air is drawn in through a hole, channeled through the tube, and directed toward the fire to intensify the flames. Hand bellows have been utilized for centuries across various cultures to control and maintain fires for purposes such as cooking, heating, and blacksmithing. The main advantage of a traditional hand bellows is its cost-effectiveness in producing a strong airflow for fire management. However, a key limitation is that once the propeller stops spinning, the airflow diminishes, reducing the fire’s intensity. The mechanism involves pushing and pulling the piston to force air through the tube, which increases the flame's intensity. Blacksmithing, an ancient craft involving the shaping and forging of metals such as iron, steel, and copper, relies heavily on tools like the bellows. Blacksmiths create diverse items, including tools, weapons, decorations, and architectural components, using techniques like hammering, bending, and cutting. The combination of bellows and burners plays a critical role in generating heat for metalworking processes globally. These devices typically comprise two main components: a flexible structure that channels air to oxidize fuel and a heat-resistant base that serves as a container for the intense heat required for metal smithing. Bellows and burners are vital in the metal industry for service delivery and income generation. However, limited attention has been given to improving the design and functionality of these tools, particularly for small-scale industries, which could benefit greatly from operational and financial advancements. This study explored the challenges in the metalworking industry related to the design and operation of bellows and burners. Using descriptive and experimental methods, the study aimed to document the procedures involved in developing a new design for these tools. Data were collected through purposive sampling from 480 respondents using interviews and observations. As a result, a mechanized, two-way operational bellows and burner system was developed, addressing the identified challenges and offering significant improvements for the metal smithing industry

    No full text
This research investigates the factorization behavior in submonoids of (ℕ, x). In particular, it identifies and describes specific submonoids of (ℕ, X) that have non-unique factorizatios of elements. Furthermore, it investigates the sets of lengths of elements in certain submonoids of (ℕ, X). For instance, we have proved the existence of atoms (irreducibles) in Hilbert`s monoid and Meyerson`s monoid giving a basic description of their sets of lengths and how they differ based on their factorization into their atoms (irreducibles) in ℕ

Methods: The study employed a descriptive cross-sectional design using a quantitative approach to assess 318 mothers using a convenience sampling method. Both predictor variables including health facility service factors, social-cultural factors, and demographics as well as support as an outcome were assessed using a semi-structured questionnaire. Quantitative data generated from the field was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics and presented in frequencies and percentages, and logistics regression was used to trace the associations between study variables and male partner support during pregnancy and childbirth at a 0.05 level of significance. Results: The main findings of the study indicate that 216/318 (68%) had low male partner support during pregnancy and childbirth and only 102(32%) had high male partner support during pregnancy and childbirth. The study found a significant association between health-related factors and the support women receive from their male partners (OR=1.16, 95%CI: 1.08 to 1.25, p<0.001). Additionally, contextual / social-cultural-related factors were also significantly associated with the support women received from their male partners during pregnancy and childbirth (OR=1.19 95%CI: 1.03c to 1.38, p=0.017). Conclusion: The study recommends building the capacity of health workers on male support, prioritizing the adoption of a resource package for engaging men in pregnancy and childbirth and its implementation, awareness through outreaches and media, incentives at each facility for male partners support and community engagement on male support in pregnancy and childbirth
