    No full text
This study explored the intersection of women empowerment programs and violence against men within Bushenyi District, Uganda. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the research employs both descriptive survey and exploratory case study designs to gain a comprehensive understanding of the impact of women empowerment initiatives on men’s experiences and perceptions. The quantitative component involved structured surveys administered to 100 male respondents, while the qualitative component included semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions. The study aimed to investigate four main aspects: the demographic characteristics of respondents, their attitudes towards women empowerment programs, their experiences of violence, and their perceptions of gender roles. Key findings indicate that while women empowerment programs are generally perceived positively in terms of their impact on women, there are nuanced views regarding their effects on men and their experiences of violence. The research found that men’s experiences of violence are varied and influenced by traditional gender roles, with significant implications for support systems and community responses. The study contributes to the broader understanding of gender dynamics and the unintended consequences of empowerment programs. It highlights the need for more inclusive approaches that consider the experiences of all genders and suggests practical recommendations for policymakers and community leaders. Limitations of the study include potential self-reporting bias and the contextual specificity of Bushenyi District. Future research is recommended to explore these themes in different settings and with larger, more diverse samples. The findings offer valuable insights for enhancing the effectiveness of women empowerment programs and addressing violence against men, ultimately contributing to more equitable gender relations and improved support systems

Man is a motor being. His life is characterized by a lot of deliberate movements like running, walking, jumping, catching, stretching, curling, balancing, pushing, pulling kicking, etc. These activities are natural to man’s life and evidently make his life flow. Studies of these physical activities in man have shown they are cardinal to his physical health intellectual development, talent building, social relations, positive use of leisure time, and longevity of life. They are also therapeutical to some illnesses and diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, stress, stroke, kyphosis, and lordosis among others, all of which would reduce national medical bills. Farley Thomas (1976). It’s for these reasons that civilized societies have identified these games and sports in the form of exercises and sports and programmed them in their education curriculum, health clubs, and organized competitions. This study was set to examine the effect of games and sports on the academic performance of pupils in primary schools of Kigarama Sub-county, Sheema District. Games and sports were the independent variable whereas the academic performance of pupils was the independent variable. The study was guided by the following objectives; (i) To assess the level of participation of pupils in games and sports in Kigarama Sub-county. (ii) To establish the factors that affect participation in games and sports activities in the Kigarama sub-county. (iii) To ascertain the effects of games and sports on pupils’ academic performance in Kigarama Sub-county. The subjects of the examination included the pupils, teachers, and headteachers. The tools for data collection included a questionnaire which was served to the teachers and headteachers whereas the interview guides were served to the pupils. This study involved a sample population of 5 primary schools randomly selected but including all categories of schools i.e. public, private, mixed ones, day and boarding schools. There were 75 pupils sampled, 40 teachers and 5 headteachers from the sample schools who were served with interview guides and questionnaires respectively. The data collected was converted to percentages and presented in graphs and tables

Additionally, the study identified several innovative user services offered at the library, including user education, OPAC services, reprography, interlibrary loans, information literacy, library networking, and the institutional repository. The study also highlighted several challenges hindering the adoption and implementation of innovative technologies at Bishop Barham Library. These included inadequate ICT infrastructure, rapid technological changes, a low level of innovativeness among library leaders, insufficient funding, and inadequate user skills to effectively utilize the technologies. To address these challenges, the respondents recommended increasing library funding, acquiring sufficient ICT infrastructure, staying updated with technological advancements, and improving user education and information literacy services

Comparative Analysis of Fixed and Variable Step Size Methods for Solving Ordinary Differetial Equations: A Case Study of Runge-Kutta Order 4 and Dormand Prince.

    No full text
The Dormand-Prince method is a technique similar to the Runge-Kutta method for solving ordinary differential equations (ODEs). It uses six function evaluations to compute solutions with fourth and fifth-order accuracy. This study focuses on numerically solving first-order ODEs and systems of first-order ODEs using both the Runge-Kutta fourth-order method and the Dormand-Prince method. The solutions obtained from both methods are then compared in terms of their accuracy. MATLAB scripts for both methods were created to solve these differential equations. The study evaluates the accuracy of the Dormand-Prince method by comparing it with the Runge-Kutta fourth-order method. The results show that the Dormand-Prince method is more accurate than the Runge-Kutta fourth-order method when solving first-order ODEs. However, for systems of first-order ODEs, the Runge-Kutta method was found to be more accurate, while the Dormand-Prince method exhibited significant deviations from the analytical solution at various step sizes. Additionally, the accuracy of both methods improved as the step size decreased

This paper seeks to examine the adoption of business innovations within the context of the agricultural sector in Uganda. The findings emerge from research carried out to assess the utilization of business innovations of research in Uganda considering the National Agricultural Research Organization(NARO) as a reference, specifically to find out the association between innovation attributes and their use on-farm, as well as establish the consequence of innovation features and demand (market) about the use of discoveries in farm management. The opinions of 99 participants in producing major crops in the Kanungu district where the NARO innovations were verified were sought. The information was assembled and scrutinized with SPSS and STATA. The findings revealed that innovation features played an important role in the extent of application of the technology. Similarly, how old participants have had a negative linkage with the use of technologies, while the extent of education helps the application of technologies by farmers
