    A Comparison of Neural Mechanisms in the Brain upon Pre-determined Responses to Periodic and Aperiodic Stimuli in Left-handed Subjects – a Functional MRI Study-

    【はじめに】我々は,規則的に提示する視覚刺激と不規則的に提示する視覚刺激を使い,その刺激に追随す るように手の把握運動を行わせた右利き被験者の報告を行ったが,今回左利き被験者の脳内神経活動を機能 的MRI で検討した. 【対象および方法】対象は神経学的な疾患の既往のない左利き健常成人9 名(平均年齢27.6 歳)であった. MRI はGE 社製1.5T 臨床用MR 装置を使用した.被験者は,MRI 装置内で仰臥位となり,鏡を通して,30 秒間,1Hz の視覚刺激(規則課題),または不規則な間隔で提示される視覚刺激(不規則課題)後に,その 都度,手の把握運動を利き手で行うように指示した.全被験者データを重ね合わせ,uncorrected によって有 意水準0.001 にて有意な活動部位を算出した. 【結果】規則課題では両側補足運動野・前頭前野・帯状回運動野,右感覚運動野,左小脳の賦活が認められた. 不規則課題では両側補足運動野・前頭前野・帯状回運動野・感覚運動野・大脳基底核・小脳の賦活が認めら れた.課題間を比較すると今回定めた関心領域すべてにおいて不規則課題で活動範囲が大きく,信号強度が 強かった.また,感覚運動野・小脳の賦活は規則課題で片側にみられ,不規則課題では両側にみられた. 【考察】今回の結果から,規則課題よりも,不規則課題で神経活動が広汎に及んでいた.右利き者でも今回 の結果と同様に活動がひろがったことから,左利き者でも同様の神経機構が働くことが示唆された.今後, リズムの変動と運動の特性による脳内活動について更に知見を深めていきたいと考えている.[Purpose] We compared neural activity in the brain, monitored by functional MRI( fMRI), during a hand-clenching task performed in response to periodic and aperiodic visual stimuli in left-handed healthy subjects. [Subjects and Methods] Subjects were 9 left-handed healthy adults( mean age: 27.6) with no significant medical history or current medical problems. fMRI images were obtained from subjects in a supine position in a 1.5-T MR scanner. Subjects performed a clench-unclench dominant hand task, in synchrony with the appearance of a visual stimulus under two conditions, periodic( 1Hz) and aperiodic( mean frequency of 1Hz), viewed through a mirror. In statistically comparing the effects of the two conditions on region-specific brain activation, the level of significance was p<0.001 for differences within group analysis. [Results] The periodic task activated the bilateral supplement motor area, bilateral prefrontal cortex, bilateral cingulate motor area, right sensorimotor cortex, and the left cerebellum. The aperiodic task activated the bilateral supplement motor area, bilateral prefrontal cortex, bilateral cingulate motor area, bilateral sensorimotor cortex, bilateral cerebellum, and the bilateral basal ganglia. Activity was significantly more extensive during performance of the aperiodic task. In particular, the aperiodic task demonstrated bilateral hemisphere activation, while the periodic task showed activation in only one hemisphere. [Conclusion] Compared with the periodic task, activation of the brain was significantly more extensive during the aperiodic task. These results suggest that since the left-handed subjects showed the same extension of neural mechanisms as right-handed subjects, left-handed subjects may induce the same neural activity as right-handed subjects. In future study, we will continue to examine neural activity induced by rhythm changes and particular movements.departmental bulletin pape

    Matsumoto Shunsuke : The Unique Artist

    松本竣介(1912-1948)は日本の近代芸術において最も優れた画家の一人である.13歳で聴力を失ったが,これを転機として芸術に強い関心を持ち,画家になる大志を抱くようになった.第二次大戦中から戦後にかけて,その困難な時代に素晴らしい作品をたくさん作った.この論文では彼の少年期から画学生時代のエピソードと,画家としての初期の6年間(1935年~40年)の活動を紹介し,彼の人生に迫ってみたいと思う.Matsumoto Shunsuke (1912-1948) was one of the most excellent artists in Japanese modern arts. Despite his hearing loss at the age of thirteen, with this as a turning point, he had a strong interest in the fine arts and was ambitious for becoming a painter. During the World War II and after, he made a lot of wonderful works in the difficult era. In this paper I would like to take some stories in his childhood, and his art school days. I’ll also show his early six years’ activities as an artist from 1935 to 1940 to consider his real life.departmental bulletin pape

    Anatomical Report on the Distal Pole of the Patella and Two Clinical Reports of its Fracture

    解剖実習用遺体膝の膝蓋骨骨膜下部を観察した結果を報告する.また関節可動域制限のない膝蓋骨骨折を2症例経験したので報告する.2症例は画像診断が行えない施設では診断が不可能であった.当該部位では,関節包内骨折か否かの判断も難しいものであるため,解剖実習用遺体膝を対象として関節包外である膝蓋骨骨膜下部の縦の長さを観察した.結果は,同部位の縦の長さは膝蓋骨全長のおよそ1/4を占めるものであった.当該部位で骨折が好発すると考察できるため,今後当該部位に対してより詳細な研究が必要である.We treated two cases of direct compression fractures in the patella with no limit of range of movement (ROM). In the circumstances where X-ray was not available, we adopted conservative therapy without locating the fracture. Later, with the aid of X-ray, we found that the location of the fracture was just between the intra- and the extra-articular parts of the patella. This made it difficult for us to make a prognosis, because the prognosis will be different according to whether the fracture is intra- or extra-articular. Although in both clinical cases we gained good results by conservative therapy, we thought it necessary to have more knowledge of the region for the better treatment of patella fractures, and thus we tried anatomical observation of the patellae of 17 cadavers. As a result, we found that there is such a difference in tissue type between the intra-articular and the extra-articular parts of patella that we could imagine that fracture occurs easily in the region between them. In addition, the longitudinal length of the extra-articular part of the patella was approximately 1/4 of the whole length. As it is not a rare occurrence, we believe that further research is necessary for both the prevention and the better treatment of patella fractures.departmental bulletin pape

    oai:ryotokuji-u.repo.nii.ac.jp:00000100日本の伝統的芸術である「いけばな」の使用言語「いける」,「飾る」の言語と行為について,この分野に携わる何らかの表現する世界(実作,文章,話し言葉等)に関わってきた人々の中では,その意味性に於いて曖昧のまま使用され続けている.そこに於ける問題点は何かを関係資料や実作者体験から考察し,今後のいけばなする言語と行為について再考する.また,この考察が従来のいけばなに関わる人々に何らかの示唆的役目を果たす内容として記述する.In the traditional Japanese art of ikebana, two terms, “ikeru” and “kazaru” have frequently been used. However, when looking at the actual artwork, and written and verbal comments, it is apparent that the usage of these terms continues to be somewhat vague. By referring to related materials and the experiences of actul artists, I would like to clarify the problems related to these two terms and therefore reconsider the direction of ikebana into the future.     Orthopedic Education for Judo Therapists : New ideas and problems in colleges and universities

    我々は柔道整復師にとって整形外科は必須のものと考え教育を行っているが、教科書的な説明に加えて柔道整復師にはない治療である手術所見などをできるだけ提示し、さらに整形外科の診断技術である画像(単純レントゲン、CT、MRI)についても同様にできるだけ提示してきた。そのような授業は一定以上の評価を学生から受けることができたと考えている。また新たな方法として、整形外科の課題を与え学生同士で自ら調べお互いの成果を発表させることを施行した。その試みに対するアンケートからは、その成果は見られるが、まだまだ検討の余地があると思われた。 また、整形外科の専門分野が細分化されていることが現実にある。本来なら専門知識を持った数人の先生方で行われる医学部での整形外科教育のような形が最良ではあると思うが、現実的には不可能である。柔整師教育に携わる整形外科医にとっては自身の専門的知識を持つことと同様に他の分野についても精通し、新たな知識を獲得して学生に還元する努力が必要と考える。Judo therapists need knowledge about orthopedic therapy and we therefore include some elements of it in the Judo therapy course. In addition to the standard textbook explanations, we show students a presentation of the typical operations in orthopedics and the image diagnosis methods (simple X-ray, CT, and MRI). We think they are satisfied with and appreciate our efforts in providing these lectures. As a new approach to study, we presented them with several topics on orthopedics and let them investigate among themselves and report the results in class. According to the survey results, this method shows potential but there is also room for improvement. With recent remarkable progress in the field of orthopedics, it is difficult for a small number of academic staff to keep up. However, judo therapy educators must continue to gain more information about orthopedics, in addition to advancing their own field, in order to pass it on to their students.departmental bulletin pape

    Physical Fitness of Students in the Department of Judotherapy and Sports Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences, Ryotokuji University

    健康・体育・スポーツ領域を学習する学生にとって,自己の体力レベルを理解しておくことは教育上重要な意味を持つ.そこで我々は,本学科新入生102 名(男子53 名,女子49 名)を対象に体力測定を実施し,全国平均およびBMI に着目して解析した.測定項目は文部科学省新体力テスト8 項目であった.その結果,長座体前屈では男女ともに全国平均と比較して有意に低値であったものの,男子では反復横とびとハンドボール投げの2 項目,女子では50m 走,上体起こし,立ち幅跳び,ハンドボール投げの5 項目で全国平均値よりも有意に高い値であった.これは本学科の新入生は柔軟性を除き全般的に体力レベルが高いことを示している.体力レベルとBMI との関連では,男子の立ち幅跳び,反復横跳び,20m シャトルラン,50m走において,成績の高いグループは低いグループと比較し,有意に低い体格指数(BMI)を示した.女子においても同様の傾向が見られたものの統計的有意差は認められなかった.今後は縦断的に体力測定を行うことにより,学生の体力レベルの経時的変化を明らかにする必要がある.It is important for students who study the fields of health science, sports science and physical education to understandtheir own physical fitness level. Therefore, we conducted the“ New Sports Test”, developed by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology to evaluate the physical fitness level of the first year students in the Department of Judotherapy and Sports Medicine, Ryotokuji University. The results demonstrated that mean values of side-stepping and handball throwing in men and 50m-sprint, standing long jump, sit-ups, side-stepping and handball throwing in women were significantly greater than those of the national average. The result indicates that the fitness level of the first-year students, except for flexibility, was relatively high compared to that of the same age group. In addition, the results also suggest that BMI might be related to the results of 50m-sprint and standing long jump in the male students, but not in the female students. As future research, we may need to follow up with assessment of the fitness level of the students over time to determine how student life affects their fitness strength.departmental bulletin pape
