Impact of Architectural Education On Sustainable Practice

The Impact of Land Administration on Private Housing Delivery In Lagos and Port-harcourt Metropolis, Nigeria

The aim of the study was to assess the impact of land administration on private housing delivery with a view to providing information on how to improve it. This study hinged theoretically on Land Management Paradigm theory to accomplish these objectives and hypotheses, the study undertook a systematic random questionnaire survey of 140 out of 1400 Real Estate Developers (REDAN) in Lagos metropolis, while 25 questionnaires were distributed to the entire Developers (REDAN) in Lagos metropolis while 25 questionnaires were distributed to the entire REDAN members in Port-Harcourt metropolis. Also interviewed, were heads of land administration agencies. Statistical tools ranging from descriptive to inferential were employed. Findings revealed that the land administration agencies do not exchange data and documents in the study areas
Assessing the Cultural Intelligence Profile of Academic Librarian in Selected Universities
No full textThe article reports the findings of a study that assessed the Cultural Intelligence (CQ) profile of academic librarian in selected universities. Academic librarians are important asset in a university. Their job required capability to effectively understand and adapt to many of cultural context as an additional skill in dissemination of information in the age of globalisation and interconnectedness. These skills requires not only a high degree of intellectual ability but a high level of CQ, therefore it seems important to assess librarian understanding of other peoples culture that will facilitate their job performance. The participants comprised of 131 librarians randomly selected from some University. Data were collected using the Cultural Intelligence Scale (CQS) developed by Earley and Ang in 2003. The scale measures the elements of metacognition cognition, motivation, and behavior. The findings suggest that their CQ level is relatively high with the mean value of 3.58 which is above average. The findings can be used by the relevant authorities to identify the required training, job recruitment; workshop and curriculum need to further improve their CQ level leading towards better job performance and global relevancy

Blended Learning in Higher Education: Implication and Strategies for Academic Library Support
No full textFollowing advances and widespread use of information and communication technology (ICT) in education and the current tech savvy generation of learners, blended learning has emerged as a panacea to address the needs of learners in higher education institutions. It has the potential to expand access to quality education and break learning barriers in developing countries. Blended learning has created a paradigm shift in library services, however, not all academic libraries in developing countries have understood their roles in a blended learning environment. Academic libraries can play significant roles on its own and in collaboration with faculty in several areas through innovative strategies like embedding and integrating information literacy into the curriculum, matching students with the right learning resources, designing innovative physical space with hi-tech to support blended learning. The paper will examine the state of academic libraries in developing countries with emphasis on their ability to participate in an embedded learning environment, it will investigate from literature, the factors that can enhance and hinder academic libraries intervention in a blended learning environment. It will reveal the competencies and skills required by academic librarians to be relevant in an embedded learning environment
