    Get PDF
This research was conducted to obtain a guided discovery learning implementation profile with virtual lab assistance and problem-solving skills for high school students on gas kinetic theory. The type of research was descriptive preliminary research, without hypothesis testing. The research subjects consisted of 106 students in senior high school. This study used qualitative descriptive analysis from questionnaires and online tests. This study revealed that the level of students’ problem-solving skills was low. This case was proven by 102 students (27 male; 75 female) in the low category with a score range of 0 to 45, and four students in the moderate category with a score range of 46 to 75, while there were no students in the high category with a score range of 76 to 100. This research implies that there is a need for a guided discovery learning model with the help of a virtual lab to analyze the problem-solving skills of high school students, especially on gas kinetic theory

That is why it needs efforts to improve the quality of the teaching and learning process by developing the learning instruments, which are eligible with the mean of IPA and the Graduation Competency Standard on Junior High School. The research purposed to describe the eligibility and effectiveness of the learning instrument of IPA on Junior High School, which is developed in the oriented inquiry by the virtual laboratory to practice the student's science process skills. The research is the development research that adapts the Kemp model. The development of learning instruments such as lesson plans, student worksheets, and assessment sheets. The research subject is the students of class 7 and 8, IX grade on Junior High School 5 Kendari. The implementation planning in-class uses one group pretest and post-test design and data analyzed descriptively. The research results are the learning instruments are eligible to be used, suitable student worksheets, and the student's handbook shows that the content and appearance are interesting. The lesson plan did well, and the majority of students' activity is how to solve a problem. The completeness of the results of the study are well done. Character attitude and social interactive are good. Students' response fir the learning is positive. The summarize of IPA, which is developed, is effective in practicing the science process skills for Junior High School students.&nbsp

The Development of Augmented Reality Application to Explore Fluid Concepts

    Get PDF
Exploration can be done by reading, discussing, or experimenting with collecting and processing data. In fluid material, students can explore by looking at the phenomena related to the application of Archimedes' law, Pascal's law, and Bernoulli's law. This study aims to develop teaching materials that can improve students' ability to explore fluid material. The research method used is the 4D model development research. The study results were in marker applications and augmented reality, which was validated by material experts, learning media. This application has also gone through field trials. The validation value of material experts is 86%, and media experts are 82.5%. Meanwhile, the test results for the teacher obtained 83.75%, and the students obtained 83.45%. Based on the validation results, this media is feasible to be used as a learning medium that helps students improve fluid material

Evaluation of the use of the Moodle Platform for Fundamental Physics Lectures at University

    Get PDF
Almost all countries in the world use E-Learning as a teaching medium. Moodle is a Learning Management System (LMS), a free, open-source platform designed to assist educators in creating online courses with dynamic interaction opportunities. In this study, an evaluation of the use of Moodle was carried out, especially in fundamental physics courses (Newton's Law). Evaluation is given by distributing online questionnaires using Google Forms as a database to store answers, collect feedback, and as statistical software to provide analysis of the effect of using Moodle according to students' opinions or perspectives. The study results show that students experience problems in taking tests/quizzes using SEB due to the instability of the internet signal. One of the reasons is that students also have to join the exam zoom simultaneously. Meanwhile, the Newton's Law material provided is very contextual and rich in sample questions, including providing student feedback which is considered good

The Response of Class X IPA SMAN 3 Muaro Jambi Students to the Application of the Jigsaw-Type Cooperative Learning Model in Physics Learning

    Get PDF
Generally, the learning model used in physics learning is the lecture learning model. The use of a suitable learning model can undoubtedly attract the interest and attention of students. The novelty of this research is the implementation or application of the jigsaw cooperative learning model to determine the students 'responses to the Jigsaw cooperative learning model. This study aims to describe the students' responses to the application of the jigsaw cooperative learning model in physics subjects. The method used is the mixing method (mixture). Quantitative data is obtained by collecting data in the form of a questionnaire. Qualitative data were obtained using an interview instrument sheet. The results showed that 65% (13 of 20 students) responded quite well, and 35% (7 of 20 students) responded well to applying the jigsaw cooperative learning model in physics lessons

The Development of “Poster Equipped with Video (POSEVI)” on Fluids at Rest Topic for 11th Grade Students

    Get PDF
This study aims to develop products such as “Poster equipped with Video (POSEVI)” that worth to used as a physics learning media for high school students with fluids at rest material. POSEVI is an educational poster equipped with educational videos, so the students shall receive visual learning (through poster) and audio-visual learning (through video). The videos contained by POSEVI can be accessed by scanning QR Codes printed on the poster. POSEVI was designed by using the research & development method that looked up to the ADDIE development model. At the beginning of this research, the need assessment questionnaire had shared as early research. In the Design stage, we should have inserted the material and contents into the poster and video. Then, in the Develop stage, POSEVI was validated by expert validators to learn how feasible the product is according to the result from expert validators. By the implementation stage, the field test was conducted limitedly by involving the XI grade students to learn about POSEVI’s feasibility as a learning media after revising and correcting from the expert validator. The final of this research is an evaluation by revising that one may accomplish POSEVI as physics’ learning media compatible with students

Four-Tier Diagnostic Test Assisted Website for Identifies Misconceptions Heat and Temperature

    Get PDF
Misconceptions get special attention in educational research because they are inhibiting students in learning. Misconceptions often occur in learning physics, especially the concept of heat, and nearly every sub-concept of physics on students experience various misconceptions. One of them is defining heat.  Many students believe that temperature is considered as a unit of measure for the amount of heat. This is a wrong conception. Thus, it needs to be identified using appropriate diagnostic test instruments to reduce students’ misconceptions. Four-tier diagnostic tests can detect students’ misconceptions because they can dig deeper into understanding students’ conceptions. Unfortunately, the diagnostic tests of student misconception are still rarely applied at most schools. The reason is time constraints in the implementation and correction of the diagnostic tests. Therefore, here we report digital four-tier diagnostic test instruments of student misconception on heat and temperature through a helpful website and can be accessed anywhere

The Effectiveness of using Student Worksheets to Practice Science Process Skills on Hooke's Law Material

    Get PDF
This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of guided inquiry-based physics worksheets in training students' science process skills. This case study was conducted at SMAN 4 Sidenreng Rappang with 28 respondents. Students use worksheets based on guided inquiry for four meetings in Hooke's law material. The worksheets were developed using the ADDIE model, consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation, including expert validation.  We obtained the expert analysis of student worksheets based on guided inquiry from two experts, namely 3.16 out of 4 Likert scales with a validity percentage of 78.89%. These results indicate that the student worksheets based on guided inquiry are appropriate. Also, the gain test is used to determine the effectiveness of this worksheet. The science process skills test score obtained an average N-gain of 0.69, and this value is included in the medium category. This is shown based on student responses which found that 28 respondents generally gave a positive reaction to guided inquiry-based physics worksheets. This means that students receive guided inquiry-based physics worksheets as an effective learning resource used in learning
