Islam: A Solidarity Factor in West African History
The purpose of this paper is to refute the prevailing notion that Islam serves as a disunity factor in West African history. The concept of Islamic solidarity could be traced to the decision of the Prophet to send the first group of his Companions to the Negus, the King of Abyssinia and the receptive disposition of the Negus during the Islamic theological stage. Later, in the city of Medina Islam began to promote a triple ideological outlook with practical socio-economic and political solutions to the world. The paper has adopted a theoretical arm-chair research approach. The concept of Islam as a solidarity factor in West African history has been examined at two main levels: solidarity against Western secular ideology as a force of decolonization and as a force of de-neo-colonization. It focuses on the sufi experience in the Senegambia Region, critically looking into three main forms of resistance: The Umar al-Futio and Maba Jakhou’s militant, the Bamba’s Muridi confrontational servitude and the Tijaniyyah pacific intellectual approach. It concludes that even though a militant approach was used in promoting the Islamic beliefs, the mechanism later settled on three sufi basic principles of education, daarah, mosque, Jakkah, and farming, tool

However, the study finds the book satisfactory for teaching speaking skills with suitable lessons and activities, although there is still room for improvement in the text by including more diverse speaking activities

Student Engagement in Online Classes During COVID-19: A Sentiment Analysis
Especially during the COVID-19 outbreak, online classes helped with flexible and remote learning. However, the effectiveness and participation of students in online classes has yet to be determined. The purpose of this study is to see how students interact with online classrooms and how much they help them learn, focusing on the students’ engagement in online classes. This study highlights the present condition of students\u27 involvement in online classrooms during the COVID-19 pandemic by using Azure Machine Learning for sentiment analysis from qualitative replies. Sentiment analysis is a sort of text mining that identifies and extracts subjective data from source material, allowing users to better understand social sentiment while monitoring online conversations. This method gives a clearer picture of the student\u27s quantitative data and demonstrates a better knowledge of their feelings. The significant findings of this study are: (a) Students\u27 academic effectiveness is not improving. (b) There is a need to restructure the academia according to online circumstances to maintain the students’ engagement. (c) Co-curricular activities have been ignored
Reflective Thoughts upon the Preliminary Observation on the Rohingya Refugee Camps in Bangladesh: A Call for Greater Psychological Support
This paper is a reflective article based upon the author’s experience of providing the preliminary evaluation at the two Rohingya refugee camps – Kutupalang and Balukhali– in Bangladesh. The information for this paper was gathered from resources using the interview and observation methodologies. The author interviewed the refugees in the camps through English-Bangali and Bangali-Chittagonian interpreters, and local staffs who worked in the camps. In addition, the author visited the service centers in the camps, and witnessed the distribution process of donated supplies. Although there were several agencies providing supports for the refugees within the camps, the help was still far from sufficiency. The author aims to use this paper as a platform to call for a greater support, especially the psychological ones. The author classifies the needs into two categories: ( 1) the urgent needs, which include the issues of children without guidance; lacking cooperation among supportive organizations, and inaccessible information to the services; (2) the important needs, that are the exercise of power by authorities; the lack of psychological support for local staffs, and the perception of the locals toward the refugees
Women’s Rights and Status in Different Religions and Civilizations: A Comparative Study
The status of women in society is one of the crucial topics and dominant themes in the modern era, which theologians have been studying in terms of different perspectives. The aim of this research is to present a comprehensive study of women’s rights and status in different societies (modern and ancient) and religions in the world. In addition, one major objective of this paper is to provide a fair evaluation of what Islam contributed (or failed to contribute) toward the restoration of women’s dignity and rights in society in terms of different aspects of life. In order to achieve this objective, it may be useful to review briefly how women were treated in general in previous civilizations and religions, especially those which preceded Islam (Pre-610 C.E.). After the review of all sides of religions and societies, it has been seen that Islam regards men and women as being of the same essence created from a single soul where a woman has a completely independent personality
