Copii lăsaţi acasă de emigranţi. Studiu în judeţul Bihor: Children left home by emigrants. A study in Bihor County
Starting from the limits of the current research on the phenomena of Romanian parent's migration for work by leaving the children at home, we collected data from schools throughout the Bihor County, conducted a survey with people in charge of these children and performed a secondary analysis on a survey with high school students. Result show there is a clear pattern of transnational family with fathers leaving abroad in 50% of the cases. When mothers are leaving too, children are left in charge of the extended family (mostly grandparents) or even by themselves. Among children of the migrants, those in this situation have the highest risk for school underachievement, low psychological well-being and deviant behavior. Research show that Romanian institutions that have to deal with these cases are insufficiently trained and engaged in solving the problems that appear. An integrated effort towards identification and properly dealing with these cases would definitely increase the quality of life of children left home
Unitatea socială numită „maisnie”. Precizări terminologice: Social unit call "maisnie". Terminology
The present paper brings into the light the French word maisnie, currently used in the Social Sciences by researchers dedicated to the study of households units, especially from the South-East European area. In 1974, the Romania originated French anthropologist Paul Henri Stahl was the first one to introduce this XIth C. French word into the social sciences. His choice came as a response to a translation dilemma he found himself confronted with, while writing his studies regarding the South-East European social units: the inexistence in the currently French language of a word able to designate the “smallest social unit”, as he called the household. Instead of creating a new word (as in the case of the well known zadruga), he proposes one which had actually being used in the different regional French dialects in the Middle Ages - maisnie. This word used to designate a social unit very similar to the Romanian gospodărie, the Bulgarian družina or kupčina, the Serbo-Croatian domačinstvo, the Albanian shtëpi or the Greek mikokiato. Starting by specifying the particular context in which this word made its entrance in the vocabulary of social sciences, the paper continues by focusing on the social reality hidden behind this complex notion. The last part deals with the utterance of a few conclusions, regarding possible approaches between the ancient French maisnie and the other similar social units from the South-Eastern Europe

Factorii favorizanţi ai recidivei. O tipologie a infractorilor de carieră: Influencing factors of recidivism. A typology of career delinquents
This article presents the main results of a qualitative research conducted in 2008, based on in-depth interviews with 40 recidivists incarcerated in Giurgiu, Jilava, Rahova and Târgşor penitentiaries. The research findings allowed the identification, in relation with the factors that encourage recidivism, of four main categories of offenders: 1) the recidivists "constrained" by the social circumstances, who perpetuate their criminal behaviours because of the social and material difficulties they faced with after their release from prison; 2) the recidivists for whom the crime and the lack of a legitimate job represents a way of life; 3) the drug addicts who are pushed on a long term criminal career by their heroin abuse and 4) the accidental recidivists, who mention that crime is not representative for them and who resort to the classical neutralization strategies when they talk about their offences
Problematica victimelor din spaţiul familial care apelează la serviciile de medicină legală: Issues concerning victims within the family who resort to services of legal medicine
The study mentions some of the results of the investigations carried out between 2006 and 2008, under the auspices of the Social and Psychological Assistance Unit at the National Institute of Legal Medicine "Mina Minovici", unit founded as result of the unwinding of a program focused on the family environment violence. Starting from the premise that the family violence acts are the results of the action of some individual, relational, community, societal but also situational factors, the research, at the level of the 379 victims included in the investigation area, has underlined a series of aspects on the particularities of the victims and of the aggressors involved in the violence acts which have determined them to contact the medico legal services. The methodology used has allowed identifying the risk factors which favor the production of the violence acts, the particularities of the victims who appeal to legal medicine services and the made up of some suggestions regarding the intervention ways in order to prevent the violence acts in the family environment
Dimensiuni psihosociale în recidiva minorilor delincvenţi: Psychosocial Dimensions of Recidivism by Juvenile Offenders
From criminological point of view, the recidivism is closely related to its causes, representing one of the fundamental characteristics of the crime phenomenon in the contemporary society. The main objectives of this research are the following: the identification of the significant variables of the recidivism in minors and young people; finding correlations between variables and risk factors as an indicator of the vulnerability to criminal recidivism (gender, age, deviant or delinquent antecedents, and offence's type); the elaboration of a typology of vulnerability, in order to approach the primary delinquency. The findings outlined a criminogen profile, in which being an in-group member, the number of the offences, and motivation are important for structuring a criminal career

Comodificarea turistică a comunităţilor "neatinse", prin lentila antropologică: The rural community seen from the perspective of its residents and local administration
Through this article I try to offer an insight into the changes of the rural communities in Romania, under the influence of tourism. In order to sustain my point of view, I will bring into discussion a case study - Măgura village in Braşov County. In the theoretical framework of tourism anthropology, commodification is often brought about - the transformation of a culture, or a place, in a commercial product. Tourism entrepreneurs often search for authenthic culture, unspoiled nature, and rather isolated communities, to offer a concept of a "eco life" to their clients. This "eco life" is commodified, and when tourists buy a holiday package, they actually buy the illusion of a lifestyle. However, the implication of tourism in communities is not without consequences: positive as well as negative. The entrepreneurs and the locals often perceive differently the situation created by the impact of tourism. The main questions. I address in this paper are: What is the impact of tourism on the receiver communities? Or otherwise said: Is there arising a "colonisation" of the locals phenomenon by the urban entrepreneurs or we should rather see impact as the alteration of the local culture and economy? I will also address the problem of local identity change through commodification of nature and local specific, exemplifing etnographically the way a rural community changes - Măgura
"Progresivitatea sociabilităţii" în două sisteme penale. Instituţia regimului progresiv de executare a pedepsei cu închisoarea: "Progressivity of sociability" in two penal systems. The institution of progressive completion of incarceration
This study analyses punishment execution in prison of two penal law systems: that of 1937 and that of 2006 (Law 275). I outline the contradictions between the rationality of the prison as an institution and the rationality of the society outside this institution. This contradiction generates a paradox of the penitentiary institution: preparing individuals for freedom through freedom deprivation. To understand the social prisoners' career I propose the concept of sociability progressiveness, which means that the convicts' progressive recovery of the capacity to live in society (as the official purpose of the punishment states) is marked by the progressive recovery of the capacity to live in the convicts' world
