Le modèle étiologique d’homicide: Etiological Model of the Murder Offenses
This paper presents the results of investigations carried out during the period September 2012-February 2013, on a group of 184 persons definitively convicted to the execution of custodial sentences for crimes of murder, in the Maximum Security Penitentiary of Craiova. Our goal is to analyze, from a socio criminological point of view, the aetiology of murder crimes and the research questions involve the chronological type of approach to the aggressors' life in relation to family environment, school environment, group of friends, criminal history and context of the offense. It also presents features of the relationship between aggressor and victim, analyzed according to the theory of the transition to the act, forwarded by Étienne De Greef. In order to obtain relevant information, we used the sociological survey, analysis of social documents, interview and observation. The results obtained using these research methods, the statistical techniques and procedures are complemented by case studies, of which, in this paper, are presented excerpts from the theoretical elements which reveal the ecological model of violence, risk factors associated to delinquent behaviour or delinquency a life choice. Our investigations were carried out within a larger research project, which included lots of people who have committed crimes of murder, rape and robbery. The results are presented in the thesis entitled Violent crime in Romania. Evaluation, aetiology and social prevention and can be used to develop national strategies for the prevention of violent crime
The Stigma of Schizophrenia in Romanian Newspapers: a Content Analysis Approach
For most people, media are an important source of information about mental health. Inadequate coverage of mental illness may have a negative impact on public attitudes toward consumers of mental health services. The aim of this article is to identify the content and quality of newspaper articles reporting on schizophrenia. Articles between 2008 and 2011 were analyzed (N=79). First, we used a frame of reference for identifying depictions of schizophrenia in newspapers, proposed by Knifton et al. (2008). Second, after analyzing several media guidelines for reporting on schizophrenia, we derived key indicators of quality reporting, including labels, trivialization of illness and unbalanced storyline. The results show that there were more negative themes than positive ones. Moreover, while the percentage of the dangerousness theme (38%) was higher than the overall percentage of positive themes (22%), discrimination was the least debated issue (6%). In regard to labels, the most prevalent (63%) had a low level of political correctness (“mentally ill”, “mental patient”). The stories were unbalanced, portraying persons with schizophrenia as victims of the illness and as offenders. It appears that the media take a more negative stance towards schizophrenia, spreading a distorted image of people with schizophrenia, which might contribute to stigma.

Accesul populaţiei cu venituri mici la un consum minim decent în România – Notă de cercetare : The Access of the Population with Low Incomes to a Decent Minimum Consumption in Romania – Research Note
Large categories of population from Romania achieve relative low incomes by their daily economic activity. But the low incomes of a great proportion of the population become even a greater social problem when it is present in a social context of a higher degree of income inequality at the national and European level. The analysis of the actual income inequality from Romania, by the Gini coefficient dynamics, by observing the distribution of the different types of households over the income deciles, or by the prevalent structural and quantitative characteristics of the income deciles, creates an eloquent vision on the economic perspectives of the Romanian employment and on the persistent condition of poverty among the majority of the employed people. The relative low purchasing power of these categories of population is assessed through the comparison between the total level of income gotten by these kinds of households with the correspondent value of the minimum basket of consumption. The minimum basket of consumption (the decent minimum basket of consumption and the subsistence one) used in this context is a methodological instrument designed by the normative method inside the Research Institute for Quality of Life from Bucharest. The article is using too, some data published by the National Institute of Statistics, Eurostat and other authorized sources

Social Media PR as a Catalyst: Balancing the Political Pressures to Communicate “with” or “to” the Public
Sensuous public relations practices, the activity through which dialogue and communication is shaped, transmitted and disseminated. In its different ways, PR conceptualizes societal evolution as inter-woven with social practices; and those practices, in turn, shape its activity. PR arises among distinctive social groups and institutions, between a political figure and its constituency, on the basis, and as a response to given conditions and relationships. It is in the presence of these conditions Romanian PR practitioners have to handle and respond to the conditions of existence. We engage in quantitative and qualitative research Romanian PR practitioners so as to understand the impact of social media in Romanian PR political campaigns. We seek to place PR practitioners within a new society conceived as a complex expressive entity with new demands out of its political figures, and in consequence, in need of new PR instruments and solutions. There are, of course, some unresolved problems and some new threats for both Romanian PR practitioners and Romanian political figures, not least of which is the unevenness of dialogue between public and political figure. We alert to the assumption about the channels of communication with the young community, apparently disengaged from civic participation and disillusioned by political figures
