O analiză critică a tranziţiei II. România în ianuarie 2012 – Către ce ne îndreptăm? : A Critical Analysis of Transition II. Romania in January 2012. Where We Are Aiming to?
In 2004 I thought that what was called „transition” had been completed and a new perspective for Romania had been opened. As a sociologist I published a book on critical analysis of those 15 years of profound social change. I was wrong. Another 7 years of confusion and sorrow has followed. In January 2012 I considered a new critical analysis of transition was necessary and I wrote this paper. The paper has two parts. The first part is dedicated to the analysis of the state in the process of transition. Arguments are brought out that state had been a key variable of the entire process of changes. There was a competition between two structural tendencies: on the one hand what is usually called promotion of the legal state; on the other hand we can identify a strong structural tendency what I call neofeudal state: the state as an important source of exploration of its resources by the new groups in power; a transfer of the public resources not from up to down, but contrary from down to up. The neofeudal state is responsible for the economic destructive process of privatisation and for producing the mechanisms of neofeudal exploration of the state and population what are usually called corruption. The second part of the paper try to identify the historical alternatives Romania has in the present situation: a prosperous capitalism and socially cohesive or a precarious capitalism socially polarised

Influența coeziunii și structurii grupului asupra performanței și calității activității în muncă: The Influence of Cohesion and Group Structure on Work Performance and Quality of Work Activity
Work performance varies from one group to another, as each group is unique. Each group has its own degree of cohesion and structure. It consists of different types of individuals and has its own rules that are accepted differently by each member. Cohesion is the group characteristic which provides more information about how members identify themselves with the group and how cooperative are they in meeting the group's goals. This paper proves that group cohesion influences directly and positively the group performance and quality of its work activity and it also proves that group structure analysis is the key for improving the degree of group cohesion. The research was conducted in the Outbound Sales department of the telemarketing company Studio Moderna on 14 teams with 15 members each. The study methods used were the sociometric test on which cohesion indexes were calculated and sociograms were builded and the statistical regression which was used to demonstrate both, the direct link between cohesion and group performance and the direct link between cohesion and quality of group work activity. First of all, the present study demonstrates that, under proper leadership, a group with a higher degree of cohesion will have a higher work performance and a higher quality of work activity than a group with a lower degree of cohesion. And secondly, this paper brings to the attention the importance of group structure in analyzing its cohesion in order to make proper changes at group level for increasing cohesion and performance
Learning from Errors in Hospitals: Implications for Performance and Suboptimal Care in Medical Departments
Over the last twenty years, the Romanian health care system has been struggling with a never-ending reform process aiming at improving its performance as a whole. A way to improve organizational performance is through collective learning – by exploiting organizations past experiences as learning opportunities. This study investigates the relationship between collective learning practices, namely, communication and analysis of errors, and performance, and suboptimal care in medical departments. Survey data were collected from a sample of 946 health professionals in two county hospitals in Transylvania. The mean age of the participants is 38.91 (σ = 9.93), and most of participants are nurses (68%). Results indicate that communication and analysis of errors in medical departments is positively associated with performance (β = .365, p< .01) and negatively associated with suboptimal care behaviours (B = -.245, p<.01), after controlling for the effect of age, sex, organizational position and job demands. Results have implications for initiatives aiming at improving the performance of medical organizations, by stressing the role of human resources development and teamwork as important assets for success. They also stress the role of bottom-up, as opposed to top-down interventions, in improving medical performance and the quality of the medical care provided to patients
