Influence of Nasopharyngeal Microbiota on Pediatric Asthma: Insight from Case–Control Study in Holy Karbala, Iraq

    Get PDF
Background: Asthma and the normal flora have a complicated interaction; research points to the potential importance of some commensal microbes in the development of asthma. Early life exposure to specific environmental microorganisms may be essential for the appropriate development of the immune system and the prevention of asthma. The host\u27s immune system and microbiome interact to significantly impact the pathways that lead to the development of asthma. Methods: This is a case-control study. Nasopharngeal swabs and Sera were collected from Teaching children City in Holy Karbala, Iraq, during 2022-2023. Nasopharngeal swabs was culturing by culture media and diagnosed by VITEK2. Results: A case-control study involving 100 kids ages 1 to 5 was conducted. Of those, 50 kids had asthma, whereas the other 50 kids were in good health. All participants provided nasopharyngeal swabs, and the VITEK 2 system was used to identify the nasopharyngeal microbiome following primary organism isolation through standard cultures using various media, including blood agar, chocolate agar, macconkey agar, manitol salt agar. Subculture and gram stain are performed following each primary culture to differentiate gram positive (purple-colored) bacteria from gram negative (reddish-pink) microorganisms. Conclusion: A subset of children with sub recurrent wheezing who have asthma had a different micro biome composition than healthy controls. It was outside the purview of this study to determine if this difference is related to asthma development/severity/difficult and delayed treatment. the ultimate objective is to control and prevent asthma by regulating the micro biota

The Effect of Chatbots on Managing Brand Reputation among Commercial Banks in Kenya

    Get PDF
Commercial banks in Kenya are facing increasing competition from non-bank financial institutions, such as mobile money operators and microfinance institutions. In order to maintain their market, share and reputation, banks need to find ways to improve customer service and engagement. Traditional customer support channels may be insufficient to meet the evolving expectations of tech-savvy customers in a digitally-driven era. The reliance on manual customer service processes, which can be time-consuming and prone to human error, may lead to delayed response times, inconsistent messaging, and inadequate handling of customer inquiries and complaints. This can negatively impact brand reputation, as customers value prompt and accurate support experiences. The general objective of this study was to assess the effect of chatbots on managing brand reputation among commercial banks in Kenya. Specifically, the study sought to examine the level of adoption and usage of chatbots among commercial banks in Kenya, to establish the effect of chatbot adoption on customer satisfaction among commercial banks in Kenya, to determine the effect of chatbot adoption on customer trust and confidence among commercial banks in Kenya, and to examine the effect of chatbot adoption on service quality among commercial banks in Kenya. This research was based on the diffusion of innovation theory and the technology acceptance model to explain the relationship between the study variables. A descriptive survey design was adopted. The target population included 34 out of 38 commercial banks operating in Kenya A census was conducted on all the 34 commercial banks. The unit of observation was 34 brand managers in each of the commercial banks and 384 bank customers. The bank customers were arrived at using stratified random sampling. Primary data was collected through structured questionnaires and was analyzed descriptively by use of means and standard deviation and inferentially by use of correlation and regression analyses using SPSS version 27. Data was presented in form of frequency tables. The overall level of adoption was great as indicated by a mean of 3.7 which was great among commercial banks. Linear regression results indicated, according to customer, chatbot adoption significantly accounted for 35.2% variation in customer satisfaction while for brand managers, it significantly accounted for 41.0%. According to customer, chatbot adoption significantly accounted for 28.1% variation in Customer trust and confidence while for brand managers, it significantly accounted for 39.3%. According to customer, chatbot adoption significantly accounted for 18.6% variation in service quality while for brand managers, it significantly accounted for 29.8%. The study concluded that adoption of chatbot has significant positive effect on the management of brand reputation indicators (customer satisfaction, service quality, customer trust and confidence). The study recommended that the bank should focus on optimizing chatbot integration across various touchpoints and channels to ensure a seamless customer experience. Bank management should empower customers with control over their data by providing tools and resources to manage their privacy settings, opt-in or opt-out of certain data collection practices, and monitor their account activity for any signs of suspicious behavior

Philosophy of the Pandawa Lima Hikayat from Palembang

    Get PDF
Pandawa Lima Hikayat (the story of Five Pandawa) is a puppet show story. The Pandawa Lima Hikayat (Ml. 504) is a tale originating from Palembang. This tale is actually an adaptation of the Javanese wayang story. However, this tale displays a Malay philosophy. This tale tries to deviate from the Mahabharata story or wayang story by changing several things from the story. The characters still use characters, but several other characters have changed names. The Pandawa Lima Hikayat also underwent a transformation from a wayang story into a form of a solace story. This is shown by changes in the names, motifs used, and storytelling style. For example, the solace story often brings up the creation of a kingdom from heirlooms. In this tale, the creation of the kingdom is carried out by the character Arjuna through a kind of samadhi. There is a philosophy that Batara Guru is not the ruler of the universe, because in this case Batara Guru cannot do his own will, even the woman loved by Batara Guru can be taken by Arjuna. This tale also shows a change in role, such as the role of Batara Guru as a powerful God in this tale Batara Guru is defeated by a figure named Sanghyang Manang. This is a philosophy about the decline of Batara Guru\u27s status as the ruler of the gods. This tale is real evidence of the fusion of Javanese wayang culture with Malay culture, especially in Palembang

    Get PDF
A hereditary condition known as sickle cell anemia (SCA) is characterized by vascular blockage, persistent hemolysis, and recurring episodes of discomfort. Among the major consequences that SCA patients experience are irregularities in coagulation and changes in red blood cell indices. The purpose of this study was to assess red cell parameters and coagulation in steady-state SCA participants in Benin, Nigeria, as well as matched AA controls. For the study, a total of 100 age- and sex-matched AA controls and 100 SCA patients in steady-state were enrolled. Standard laboratory procedures were used to collect and analyze blood samples for red cell indices (MCHC, hematocrit, RBC count, APTT, INR, and fibrinogen) and coagulation parameters (PT, APTT, INR, and fibrinogen). The red cell index and coagulation parameters between SCA patients and controls differed significantly, according to the results. Patients with SCA had coagulopathy as evidenced by extended PT and APTT, elevated INR, and reduced fibrinogen levels. Anemia, hypochromia, and microcytosis were found in SCA patients\u27 red cell indices. Significant correlations between coagulation measures and red cell indices were revealed by correlation analysis. The study emphasizes how crucial it is to routinely check red cell and coagulation markers in SCA patients in order to avoid problems. The findings have implications for the care and treatment of SCA patients in Nigeria as well as for the amount of knowledge already known about the pathophysiology of the condition. The study suggests more investigation into the molecular processes that underlie the anomalies in coagulation observed in SCA
