Student's perceptions when two class groups were brought together to give presentations in a management subject
This communication presents the students’ perceptions after giving presentations when two class groups were brought together in the 2023-2024 academic course in the subject ‘Value Chain and Financial Economics’. The activity is consistent with the framework of the New Learning Context (NLC) implemented at La Salle-Universitat Ramon Llull (La Salle-URL), to promote active learning in an assessment activity by a group work. Students were organized in groups to give a presentation in front of two groups of classmates and two instructors. Findings indicate that engineering students value a multi-group presentation activity in a management subject for its potential to enhance learning, foster critical thinking, and enrich discussions. However, the study also highlights the need to balance challenges and support to manage stress and maintain focus.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
An Orthogonally Clickable and Stimuli-Responsive Poly(β-amino ester) for the Co-delivery of Doxorubicin and BCL-2 siRNA
A potent drug delivery system (DDS) based on poly(β-amino ester)s (pBAEs) to tackle multidrug resistance (MDR) in lung cancer by codelivering siRNA targeting antiapoptotic BCL-2 and doxorubicin (DOX) has been prepared. Engineered via strain-promoted azide–alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC) to attach a tripeptide end-chain moiety and thiol–disulfide exchange to conjugate DOX, the system employs a hydrazone linker for dual pH- and redox-responsive release. This ensures precise tumor targeting with minimal leakage in the circulation. In multidrug-resistant lung cancer cells (GLC-4/ADR), it sharply downregulates BCL-2 expression, amplifying DOX’s therapeutic impact.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Toward a Plastic-Free World: Antecedents of Consumer Purchase Intentions and Their Relationship With Purchasing Behavior for Plastic-Free Fresh Products
Consumer preferences for convenience and durability have historically driven demand for plastic-packaged products. However, increasing environmental awareness has spotlighted pro-environmental behaviors like purchasing fresh produce without plastic packaging. Using the Theory of Consumption Values, this study explores the role of functional and emotional values in shaping pro-environmental intentions. A survey of 375 consumers reveals that functional and emotional values significantly influence purchase intent, while greenwashing, subjective norms, and self-indulgence impact emotional value. Importantly, a positive relationship is observed between purchase intentions and actual behavior. These findings highlight actionable strategies to align consumer behavior with environmental goals. We conclude that to encourage the purchase of plastic-free fresh products, food business operators and regulators should emphasize the approval of consumer reference groups, as subjective norms have a relevant impact on consumers' emotional values, driving sustainable purchase intentions
A Roadmap for integrating sustainability into software engineering education
The world faces escalating crises: record-breaking temperatures, widespread fires, severe flooding, increased oceanic microplastics, and unequal resource distribution. Academia introduces courses around sustainability to meet the new demand, but software engineering education lags behind. While software systems contribute to environmental issues through high energy consumption, they also hold the potential for solutions, such as more efficient and equitable resource management. Yet, sustainability remains a low priority for many businesses, including those in the digital sector. Business as usual is no longer viable. A transformational change in software engineering education is urgently needed. We must move beyond traditional curriculum models and fully integrate sustainability into every aspect of software development. By embedding sustainability as a core competency, we can equip future engineers not only to minimise harm but also to innovate solutions that drive positive, sustainable change. Only with such a shift can software engineering education meet the demands of a world in crisis and prepare students to lead the next generation of sustainable technology. This article discusses a set of challenges and proposes a customisable education roadmap for integrating sustainability into the software engineering curricula. These challenges reflect our perspective on key considerations, stemming from regular, intensive discussions in regular workshops among the authors and the community, as well as our extensive research and teaching experience in the field.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Circular industrialised housing: Insights from solar decathlon europe 2022
The latest policy and research recommendations focus on advancing transition of housing to the circular economy framework to tackle environmental and affordability challenges. A key strategy for this is industrialised construction, which combines controlled manufacturing methods with strategies that facilitate future disassembly, allowing for adaptations, maintenance, and material reuse. Despite its importance, long-term housing solutions that integrate both industrialised construction and disassembly remain rare.
This study obtained insights into circular industrialised housing from the Solar Decathlon Europe competition through interviews and observations with fifteen participating teams in Wuppertal, Germany, in 2022. The competition’s build challenge provided a unique opportunity to examine the practical application of both industrialised and disassembly approaches, where teams developed highly energy-efficient, affordability-conscious, and scalable housing systems. On-site interviews with team members from diverse disciplines took place midway through the competition’s assembly phase. These were further informed
by observing team Azalea’s housing disassembly in Spain, which took place shortly before reassembly in Germany. Thematic and content analyses were conducted using a predefined framework based on holistic factors and lifecycle processes. Our results reveal the critical impact of Cultural factors, particularly during the (re)design process and provide new data to aid our understanding of the (dis)assembly process. This study contributes towards the development of a circular industrialised housing framework.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
This quantitative study analyzes the limitations and proposals for improvement of the
Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale - 2 (ADOS-2) (Lord et al., 2015), with a focus on
gender differences in the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The
professionals interviewed have pointed out that the ADOS-2 has important limitations,
such as the subjectivity of the administrator and the need to use complementary tests to
ensure an accurate diagnosis. In this context, the instrument is not sensitive enough to
detect subtle traits associated with camouflage, a fact that contributes to the
phenomenon of underdiagnosis in women. The conclusions of the study highlight the
importance of updating diagnostic tools, such as the ADOS-2, in line with revisions of
diagnostic manuals. They also emphasize the need to deepen the knowledge of the
manifestations of ASD in the female population in order to improve detection, and to
ensure a more equitable diagnosis and meet the specific needs of all genders.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Developing International Consensus on Key Indicators for a 24-Hour Movement Behaviour Report Card in Early Childhood: A Twin-Panel Delphi Study
Background
The World Health Organization has established recommendations for 24-h movement behaviours in children under 5 years. Building on the successful knowledge translation model of Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance Report Cards, this study aimed to develop a similar framework for the early years.
Methods
Using a three-round twin-panel Delphi survey (conducted via an online survey between 28 November 2024 and 11 March 2025), expert consensus was sought on indicators and benchmarks for the first dedicated report card on 24-h movement behaviours for the early years. The experts were identified through a three-step selection process, which included recognised international projects and networks as well as literature search. In Round 1, participants evaluated the applicability of 15 initial indicators. In Rounds 2 and 3, they rated the importance of each indicator, with results from their own panel (Round 2) and the other panel (Round 3) provided to inform their decisions. Qualitative feedback on definitions and benchmarks was systematically reviewed and incorporated. Consensus was predefined as ≥ 75% agreement, with stability across rounds considered.
Results
Of 175 invited experts, 72 (41.1% recruitment rate) from 15 regions participated in Round 1, with 61 (84.7% response rate) and 56 (77.8% response rate) completing Rounds 2 and 3, respectively. Consensus was achieved for 12 indicators, with definitions and benchmarks refined based on expert inputs. Notably, Weight Status and Motor Proficiency were excluded due to lower agreement.
Conclusions
The finalised set of indicators, definitions, and benchmarks provides a robust foundation for creating a standardised report card for early childhood. The finalised results serve as a critical advocacy instrument to raise awareness, improve surveillance, facilitate cross-jurisdictional comparisons, and inform policy and public health initiatives, ultimately supporting the health and well-being of young children globally.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Projecte teatral per a joves migrats -Teatre obert
entorn segur on aquests joves puguin expressar-se lliurement, compartir vivències, explorar
