NutriWomen, novel evidence-based web platform to support women’s health, nutrition decisions and address nutrition misinformation on social media: Protocol for a digital tool development
Background: Social media, especially Instagram, spreads nutrition-related information that often lacks scientific rigor. Many women report feeling inadequately informed about women’s health by healthcare professionals, turning to social media, increasing exposure to misinformation. Objectives: The NutriWomen platform aims to assess the quality, methodological soundness, and credibility of nutritional health claims and dietary recommendations on Instagram targeting women across different life stages. Its goal is to develop a systematic and scientifically grounded evaluation framework to assess Instagram nutrition-related claims and the methodological quality and interpretability of their supporting evidence, and to translate the results into accessible outputs that help women make informed nutrition decisions across life stages. Methods: This study follows a five-stage design Stage 1 involves a retrospective content analysis of Instagram posts containing nutrition-related claims targeted at women, identified through the “Top posts” function and screened using predefined criteria. Stage 2 assesses information quality using a validated 14-item tool. Stage 3 evaluates the scientific accuracy of claims by formulating PI(E)CO(TS) questions, selecting key outcomes, retrieving evidence from PubMed and the Cochrane Database, and appraising systematic reviews with a modified AMSTAR-2 tool incorporating GRADE ratings, when available. Stage 4 develops the NutriWomen website platform to translate assessments into accessible visual summaries. Stage 5 conducts a mixed-methods study with peri-, meno-, and postmenopausal women to explore information needs and evaluate platform usability through focus groups. Conclusions: The NutriWomen platform will be the first website to systematically publish the results of evaluations assessing the scientific quality of nutritional health claims on Instagram targeted at women across different life stages. It will provide a replicable methodology, and a digital tool designed to empower women with trustworthy nutrition information, with the potential to enhance health literacy and promote better health outcomes.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
A critical review of social housing commodification in England
Social housing in the UK and England has slowly been replaced by affordable housing as part of a general trend towards its hyper-commodification in England. However, social housing and affordable housing serve different purposes and different socioeconomic groups. By tracing the context, emergence, and trajectory of these terms, this article reveals a wider paradigm shift in housing provision from the welfare state towards market-based solutions. This article employs a literature review methodology to trace the history of social housing from the Industrial Revolution until the mid-1970s, and the subsequent emergence of affordable housing in the UK, particularly England. Affordable housing is then introduced and defined before following both housing trajectories in the context of housing commodification. The findings highlight key historical moments that have shaped the UK, particularly England’s, response to the housing crisis through social housing and affordable housing, alongside corresponding impact on socioeconomic groups. The analysis reveals how deregulation, financialisation, and globalization have transformed housing from a functional dwelling space with social and environmental use value into an asset for capital accumulation and exchange value. Today, housing—in its material, social, and legal functions—has been hyper-commodified. Establishing the emergence of affordable housing and its relationship to social housing in England is crucial for policymakers, housing providers, and researchers to understand and address the unique user needs, challenges, and opportunities of socioeconomic groups. This fosters a more equitable and inclusive housing system by considering all socioeconomic groups in the design and policies of social, affordable, and sustainable housing. Additionally, understanding the relationship between affordable housing and social housing in England aids in choosing the appropriate term for various socioeconomic contexts. This will facilitate effective policymaking, resource allocation, and targeted interventions to address housing challenges and ensure equitable access to suitable housing for everyone.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio
Bridging research and practice: a pilot trial of an adapted social skills program for autism in public services
Background: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is marked by significant challenges in social communication and interaction, often accompanied by comorbid neurodevelopmental and mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression. These social difficulties can interfere with the development of pragmatic language use, social problem-solving abilities and quality of life. Social skills interventions have shown promising results in addressing these challenges, yet there is a need to adapt such programs for broader, publicly funded settings to enhance accessibility and effectiveness.
Objective: This study reports on a randomized, waitlist-controlled pilot efficacy trial evaluating an adapted version of the Social Adjustment Enhancement Intervention Program implemented in a university-affiliated public mental health hospital.
Methods: A 10-session group-based intervention was delivered to 79 autistic participants aged 8–17 years. Social behaviors were assessed before and after the intervention using structured observational methodology, and comorbid internalizing symptoms were measured via parent-report standardized questionnaires.
Results: Significant improvements were observed in the subgroup of children and in participants with higher verbal IQ, particularly in eye contact and functional communication, as measured through observational methodology. Additionally, a reduction in internalizing symptoms was found among children in the experimental group. In the full sample, no statistically significant effects were observed, although trends in the same direction were noted.
Conclusions: Findings support the feasibility and pilot evidence of intervention effects of this adapted social skills program, particularly for younger autistic individuals and those with higher verbal abilities. The results underscore the importance of tailoring interventions to age and cognitive profiles, and highlight the value of accessible, evidence-based approaches in public mental health systems. Further research is needed to optimize intervention design and evaluate long-term outcomes.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Wasted expertise: Why doesn’t retrofit include residents?
Retrofitting social housing is key to reaching urgent climate goals. Integrating residents as a stakeholder in retrofit processes can transform social housing into sustainable homes. Residents are experts in the way they live and reliance on techno-optimist approaches to deep energy retrofit fail to utilise their situated knowledge. This research provides new insights into effective retrofit decision-making processes that prioritise social equity alongside environmental goals. Fifteen semi-structured interviews with Housing Association, Architect, and Architect-led cooperative stakeholders in various European locations, were investigated using a thematic analysis, to answer the following research question: “How do stakeholders (not)utilise residents' situated knowledge and expertise in retrofit design?”. Five themes were identified in the data, ascending from the least inclusive to most inclusive of resident stakeholders: external factors influence decision-making; building design is the priority; integrated communication between high-level stakeholders and resident stakeholders; importance of social value; and residents have choice. The results identified three key components to sustainable retrofit: (1) architects and passive design-thinking, (2) retrofit technologies should complement passive design, and (3) resident expertise can balance building needs, energy needs, and social needs. Hybrid decision-making processes should prioritise resident stakeholders to address actual needs, avoid tokenism, and ensure residents' central role in internal governance. Results can guide high-level retrofit stakeholders and policy-makers in shaping hybrid retrofit processes and empower social housing residents to engage with retrofitting projects.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries represent a common and high-impact problem in non-professional youth women’s soccer. Lumbopelvic stability has been identified as a modifiable factor that can influence the prevention of these injuries. In this context, hip locking training, aimed at improving motor control and intermuscular coordination, emerges as a preventive strategy with growing support in the scientific literature.
The main objective is to determine whether hip locking training improves lumbopelvic stability in non-professional youth female soccer players. Secondary objectives include analysing the relationship between lumbopelvic stability and the occurrence of lower limb injuries, determining the effectiveness of the lumbopelvic stability exercise program in improving postural function and motor control, and identifying other risk factors that may influence the effectiveness of hip locking in reducing the risk of injuries such as ACL tears, all with a focus on the target population: non-professional youth female soccer players.
Based on a review of current scientific literature, a 12 week intervention protocol was designed using validated exercises. The program will include two 30–35 minute sessions per week, carried out before regular training. The variables analyzed will be lower extremity stability, dynamic hip stability, core strength, and hip mobility. Tools such as the Y-Balance Test, Biering-Sorensen Test, Dead Bug isometric exercise, and two-dimensional video analysis of functional tests (single-leg drop landing and single-leg squat) will be used. Tasks will be recorded from the frontal and sagittal planes for kinematic analysis using Kinovea software. Evaluations will be conducted at three time points (pre, mid and post-intervention) and data will be processed by independent statisticians to assess the effectiveness of the proposed protocol
Think Globally, Act Locally: A Glocal Approach Based on the Regional Report Cards From Spain in the AHKGA Global Matrix 4.0
Background
The Global Matrix initiative aims to create a world map of indicators related to physical activity to provide the most up-to-date information for decision-making. In the latest edition, three regions from Spain joined the initiative, based on a ‘glocal’ approach. The objectives of this study were (i) to compare the grades of the Report Card and the public policies between and within the Spanish regions and with the national Report Card; (ii) to evaluate sex differences; and (iii) to identify differences in the policy priorities between regions and the national policy.
Methods
The three regions studied and the country followed a harmonized process to develop a Report Card. The common physical activity indicators included in the Global Matrix 4.0 were analysed. The Government indicator was analysed using an approved methodology. Additionally, sex-specific information was provided. Report Card leaders provided the main priorities to improve the indicators included in the analysis, and a comparison by indicator was performed.
Results
Regional differences were observed in the grades assigned to the behavioural indicators included; however, the average grades were similar, with Extremadura showing the lowest average. Grades for the sources of influence indicators differed in the analysed Report Cards.
Conclusion
Regional Report Cards analysed in Spain differ among themselves, with similar average grades in the behavioural indicators. These identified regional differences could lead to a more ‘glocal’ approach that will allow for more efficient action at the local level.
Summary
Variations in physical activity indicators among regions emphasize the need for customized solutions to address different regional challenges.
Access to comprehensive regional data is essential for accurately grading indicators and implementing targeted actions at the local level.
Improved data availability on a regional scale will improve decision-making and policy effectiveness.
Differences in priorities reflect the need for tailored strategies that address local realities.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Measurement of ψ(2S) to J/ψ cross-section ratio as function of multiplicity in pPb collisions at sNN=8.16 TeV
The production ratio of ψ(2S) to J/ψ charmonium states is presented as a function of multiplicity in proton-lead collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of sNN=8.16 TeV, for both prompt and nonprompt sources. The total luminosity recorded by the LHCb experiment corresponds to 13.6 nb−1 for pPb collisions and 20.8 nb−1 for Pbp collisions, where the first particle corresponds to the particle traveling towards the detector. Measurements are performed in the dimuon final state at forward (backward) centre-of-mass rapidity, with respect to the proton direction, 1.5 < y*< 4.0 (−5.0 < y*< −2.5) for pPb (Pbp) collisions. A multiplicity dependence of the prompt production ratio is observed in pPb collisions, whereas no dependence is found in nonprompt production, nor in either prompt or nonprompt production in Pbp collisions. These results suggest that in the Pb-going direction additional suppression mechanisms beyond comover effects may be present, possibly related to the formation of quark-gluon plasma. This highlights a transition from small to large collision systems and provides important insight into the suppression of charmonia in proton-nucleus collisions.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
A narrative review of vascular conduits for coronary artery bypass grafting
Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) involves creating new conduits to restore blood flow to the heart. Using autologous vascular grafts presents challenges, including infection risk after vein harvesting, and scarcity of viable vein tissue. Researchers are exploring tissue-engineered vascular grafts (TEVGs), aiming to create optimal small-diameter vascular graft (SDVG) (<6 mm) for CABG surgery. TEVGs with suitable long-term patency could offer a promising alternative, potentially reduce patient morbidity and improve surgical outcomes. However, no SDVG is commercially available for CABG surgery in Europe, and no new clinical trials of coronary TEVGs have been reported since 2018. This narrative review summarizes the development and use of SDVG (<6 mm) for CABG, focusing on TEVGs and cell-seeding strategies. We outline the main types of grafts tested in preclinical and early clinical studies and highlight how different cell sources and seeding approaches aim to enhance graft functionality, patency, and long-term outcome.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
