* Hvordan beskriver de oppsøkende sosialarbeiderne ungdom i risiko?
* Betydningen av «touchen» i kontaktetablering
* Relasjoner bygget på tid og tilstedeværelse
* Arbeid på ungdommens premisser
* Tiltak som styrker ungdommens tilhørighet og mestringsfølelse
Studien peker også på behovet for strukturell støtte til denne typen arbeid, særlig i møte med økt press på dokumentasjon og målbare resultaterThis master's thesis explores how outreach social work is utilized as a method in working with youth at risk of social exclusion, substance abuse, and criminal behavior. With increasing political and professional focus on preventive efforts targeting youth, there is a need for a deeper understanding of how relationships are built in the field, and which factors promote a sense of belonging and mastery.
The study is based on a qualitative research design, involving semi-structured interviews with five outreach workers from three municipalities, as well as three participatory observations in two of the municipalities.
Through analysis of the data material, five central findings have been identified:
* How do outreach social workers describe youth at risk?
* The significance of “the touch” in establishing contact
* Relationships built on time and presence
* Working on the youth’s terms
* Initiatives that strengthen young people’s sense of belonging and mastery
These findings are discussed in light of theories by Antonovsky, Honneth, and May, highlighting how recognition, mastery, and belonging are central mechanisms in relational work. Lipsky’s theory of street-level bureaucrats and Zacka’s When the State Meets the Street also form part of the theoretical framework.
The thesis concludes that outreach work provides an important contribution to strengthening young people’s ties to society—provided the work remains relational, flexible, and professionally grounded. The study also points to the need for structural support for this type of practice, particularly in the face of increasing demands for documentation and measurable outcomes
This master's thesis explores what can be done in textile education to influence students thoughts and actions towards sustainability. The study is grounded in a practice-based and creative approach and has been carried out as an action research project, based on both personal creative work and a teaching unit conducted with 8th-grade students in the elective subject Design and Redesign. The teaching focused on working with textile scraps and using water-soluble stabilizer to create new textiles. The study is based on participatory observation and student responses, as well as reflections related to the author’s own creative process.
The theoretical framework includes, among others, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the waste hierarchy, Didham and Kalseth’s model for education for sustainable development, and 21st century skills, with particular emphasis on critical thinking. Perspectives from the national curriculum are also included to highlight the potential for sustainable teaching within the subject of Design and Redesign.
The findings show that through creative work with textile waste, students developed increased awareness of sustainability and the value of reuse. Student reflections and observations suggest that students, to varying degrees, engaged with the environmental aspects of textile production. The study indicates that meaningful, hands-on activities that allow for reflection and student agency can be an effective way to promote sustainable thinking in schools through work with textile scraps.

Reflections from the students and observational data suggest that they, to varying degrees, engaged with the environmental aspects of textile production. My own creative process: exploring materials, techniques, and aesthetic expressions, was an integral part of the project and influenced how I facilitated opportunities for student exploration and learning. Patient experience of treatment burden in chronic heart failure self-care interventions: a qualitative systematic review protocol
Introduction: Chronic heart failure management can involve considerable healthcare workload for the patient that impacts on well-being and results in treatment being perceived as burdensome. This can result in non-adherence to treatments. This systematic review aims to identify, appraise and synthesise the available qualitative evidence exploring the experience of treatment burden in heart failure patients participating in a self-care intervention. Findings will provide an in-depth understanding of the patient journey, providing knowledge that will enable the development of targeted interventions that reduce the burden of treatment for patients.
Method and analysis: The databases will include Medline, PsycINFO, Embase, CINAHL, Cochrane and Web of Science. The review protocol is registered in the International Prospective Register for Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO ID no 1052512). This review will systematically scour qualitative research studies in databases from 2010 to January 2025 with carefully chosen search terms such as heart failure, self-care and burden. Searches are limited to studies in English. Two reviewers, guided by the Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal Checklist for Qualitative Research, will independently appraise the methodological quality of the selected studies. Any disagreements will be resolved through discussion with a third reviewer. This review will employ a rigorous thematic synthesis approach informed by the burden of treatment theory, where two researchers will analyse and synthesise data by double-coding.
Ethics and dissemination: Ethical approval is not required for this systematic review as primary data will not be collected. The result of the review will be disseminated through publication in an academic journal and scientific conferences.publishedVersio
The Organizational challenges of municipal call centers as a health service in Norway- A multiple case study
Background: To maintain sustainability in the health care system, technology such as social alarms and sensors has been implemented in people’s homes with the goal of increasing independent living for elderly and multimorbid health care recipients. When implementing technology, someone needs to monitor and answer the alarms and calls, which is often coined ‘telecare’. Many countries have organized telecare service in call centers, which in the Health care domain is a service innovation. This study aims to research how call centers in Norway were organized, what services they offered, and what challenges they faced.
Method: This was an explorative study, using multiple case methodology. The study included five call centers, covering approximately 60 municipalities across Norway. 11 interviews with 15 informants, holding a variety of positions, such as managers, assistant managers, health personnel, technicians, advisors, and subject coordinators, call center observations and document studies were conducted. The data was analyzed inductively, and empirical literature as well as a framework for service innovation were used as theoretical perspectives.
Results: Four types of organizational structures of call centers were identified: 1) call center combined with emergency room; 2) call center combined with other technology; 3) call center combined with ambulant team and 4) call center combined with an advisory department. One factor for innovation success has been identified as market conditions which are expected to be increasing, whilst the study identified several challenges, for example the complexity of stakeholders. Based on different stakeholder worldviews, the various methods of innovation and organization have led to a variation in services.
Conclusions: Stakeholders with different worldviews, service innovation strategies and municipal autonomy have influenced how the call centers have developed in different directions. They are still in a service innovation phase, implementing new services and technology. The call centers appeared to be ‘caught between a rock and a hard place’ – situated between health and social care, but slowly moving towards acute and contingency services, that is, from telecare towards telehealthpublishedVersio
“It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it”: Committed consumers' voluntary emotion work in alternative market systems
Despite increasing attention to alternative market systems, where consumers perform considerable voluntary labor, consumer researchers have a limited understanding of the nature or implications of the emotion work entailed in making such contributions. This paper addresses this gap, focusing on “committed consumers” defined as those who provide extensive volunteer labor to support alternative markets and their principles. It does so based on hermeneutic analysis of ethnographic and netnographic data collected from participants in local food markets (REKO markets) in Norway. The paper identifies four distinct types of institutional emotion work that contribute to perpetuating alternative markets and conceptualizes how committed consumers' own emotions are affected when making such contributions. This paper extends our understanding of consumers' roles in alternative market systems and of the socially constituted and constitutive emotions entailed in consumer volunteerism.publishedVersio
Exploring co-creation with student nurses in contemporary nursing education: A systematic scoping review
Background and aims: Co-creation in educational design and development is evolving and increasingly recognised as a vital component of contemporary nursing education. However, there remains a need to strengthen the knowledge base for this approach. Therefore, this study aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of empirical research on co-creation within nursing education and identify gaps in knowledge and areas requiring further investigation. Methods: This study utilised a systematic scoping approach and followed a five-stage methodological framework: (1) identifying the research question; (2) selecting relevant studies; (3) choosing appropriate studies; (4) charting and organising the data; and (5) synthesising, summarising, and reporting the results. It searched the ERIC, Web of Science, Scopus, Medline, CINAHL, and PubMed databases to identify relevant articles, which then underwent double-blind screening, identifying 14 that met the inclusion criteria for this scoping review. Results: The analysis identified five themes that reflect the scope and nature of empirical research on co-creation in nursing education: (1) scarcity of studies and varied conceptualisation of co-creation, (2) dominance of digital educational co-creation initiatives, (3) underrepresentation of multidisciplinary collaboration in co-creation initiatives, (4) workshops as key activities of co-creative collaboration and engagement, and (5) paucity of knowledge on co-creation effectiveness. Conclusions: This review highlights the need for more comprehensive research systematically examining the benefits, impacts, and facilitators of co-creation in nursing education. Future studies should incorporate the perspectives of multiple stakeholders, especially within clinical nursing education, and investigate the scalability of co-creation, including its costs and benefito.publishedVersio
A stretched polar vortex increased mid-latitude climate variability during the Last Glacial Maximum
The Arctic stratospheric polar vortex (SPV) is a key driver of winter weather and has been found to modify winter climate variability and its predictability in Eurasia and North America on inter-annual and decadal timescales. However, to what extent this relationship plays a role in driving climate variability on glacial–interglacial timescales is still unknown. Here, by systematically analysing SPV changes in four sets of PMIP4 (Paleoclimate Modelling Intercomparison Project – Phase 4) simulations for the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) and the pre-industrial (PI) period, we explore how the SPV changed during the glacial climate and how it influenced climate variability. Our results show that under LGM conditions, the SPV stretched towards the Laurentide ice sheet; this was accompanied by anomalous upward wave propagation and enhanced SPV variability, which increased the likelihood of cold-air outbreaks into the mid-latitudes. During the LGM, this stretched SPV pushed cold Arctic air further equatorwards, increasing winter climate variability over the more southern mid-latitudes. In particular, in winter, this strengthened cooling over the mid-latitudes extended beyond the coverage of the Laurentide ice sheet (unlike in summer). SPV-induced temperature variability also explains the inter-model spread as removing SPV variation from the model results reduces the inter-model spread by up to 5°C over mid-latitude Eurasia. These results highlight the critical role of the SPV in connecting the polar region and mid-latitudes on glacial–interglacial timescales. These connections are reminiscent of intra-seasonal stratosphere–troposphere coupling.publishedVersio
