    In this study, mechanically alloyed Fe70Nb10V10B10, Co70Nb10V10B10, Ni70Nb10V10B10, and (FeCoNi) 70Nb10V10B10 high-entropy alloys were successfully synthesized, and their structural, magnetic, and radiation shielding properties were systematically investigated. Structural analysis revealed that Fe favored bcc phase formation, while Co and Ni stabilized fcc structures; the equiatomic alloy resulted in a single-phase fcc solid solution with the smallest crystallite size (2.1 nm). All samples exhibited soft ferromagnetic behavior, with the Fe-based alloy achieving the highest saturation magnetization (120 emu/g), and the (FeCoNi) 70Nb10V10B10 alloy displaying the lowest coercivity. Among all compositions, Co70Nb10V10B10 demonstrated the best gamma and neutron shielding performance, showing the highest linear attenuation coefficient and fast neutron removal cross-section. The equiatomic alloy also exhibited well-balanced and stable shielding behavior. These findings position Co70Nb10V10B10 as a promising candidate for multifunctional applications requiring both efficient radiation protection and favorable magnetic properties

    Ultrasound-Guided Lumbar Plexus Injection: A Cadaveric Validation

    Ultrasound (US) has gained increasing acceptance for evaluating the axial spine, including the lumbar region. While its accuracy for superficial structures such as facet joints and medial branches has been validated, evidence supporting its use for deeper targets, such as the lumbar plexus, remains limited. This cadaveric study aimed to assess the feasibility of US-guided lumbar plexus injection. A fresh-frozen female cadaver with a body mass index of 23 kg/m2, prepared using the "Fix-for-Life" technique, was utilized. Using a 2-5 MHz curved linear transducer (HS30; Samsung Medison, Seoul, Republic of Korea), injections were performed with an in-plane approach under continuous needle visualization. A 20-gauge, 7 cm spinal needle was used to deliver 5 mL of green dye targeting the L3 and L4 nerve roots. Dissection confirmed that L3 injection achieved dye spread to the extraforaminal region, whereas L4 injection demonstrated anterior dye distribution adjacent to the intervertebral foramen. The main limitations included the use of a single specimen and acoustic shadowing from articular processes, which impeded visualization of neural structures. This study demonstrates the feasibility of US-guided lumbar plexus injection and supports its potential application in clinical pain management, although further validation with larger sample sizes is warranted

    A novel CRISPR-Cas12a-based diagnostic for rapid and highly sensitive detection of West Nile virus

    Climate change is increasing the global threat of vector-borne diseases, including West Nile Virus (WNV), a significant human and animal pathogen transmitted primarily by Culex mosquitoes. Current WNV diagnostic methods, while including sensitive techniques like RT-PCR, have limitations in early detection, practicality, and cost-effectiveness. There is an urgent need to develop novel and more efficient strategies to address these challenges and to facilitate the surveillance and management of WNV infections and their spread. This study presents a highly specific and sensitive CRISPR-Cas12a-based detection protocol for WNV detection. Through systematic analysis of key reaction parameters (time: 0-60 min; reporter concentration: 1-80 nM, Cas12a and crRNA concentration: 5.625-90 nM; and template amount: 10-2-105 pg) and integration with reverse transcriptase recombinase polymerase amplification to enhance sensitivity through an isothermal technique, this assay demonstrates a novel strategy for the rapid detection of WNV, achieving 10 femtomolar sensitivity within one hour. Moreover, the assay retained its efficacy at different temperatures (25 degrees C and 37 degrees C) and in biological matrices containing the host (fly or human) genetic material, which supports its applicability in resource-limited settings. Therefore, the method presented here has the potential for broad application in diverse point-of-care settings for rapid diagnosis of WNV

    Teamwork in Team Debriefings: Coaches' Communication Patterns After Wins and Losses

    This study aimed to test the difference in coaches' teamwork-focused behavioral patterns in team debriefings following wins and losses. Seven male coaches (Mage = 41.91, SD = 6.4) from elite basketball, volleyball, and soccer teams were recorded and their behaviors were coded during 18 team debriefings (M = 55.98 +/- 26.49 min) held after nine win and nine loss games. Coaches' behaviors were coded through a novel teamwork coding scheme developed for the present study. Behavioral rates, relative durations, and lag sequential analysis were used to identify behavioral patterns and significant differences. The findings showed that coaches displayed performance monitoring and problem-solving-focused teamwork behaviors for an extended period following wins. In addition, rates of systems monitoring behaviors were significantly higher in loss conditions. Coaches were more inclined to use feedback, opponent analysis, and data presentation with performance monitoring following losses, while questions and instructions were preferred with problem-solving behaviors. Lag sequential analysis revealed that coaches followed a significant pattern of performance monitoring, problem solving, and planning behaviors. The findings suggest that game outcomes could affect coaches' teamwork-focused behaviors and communication strategies of these behaviors in team debriefings. Furthermore, the study highlighted the importance of teamwork in team debriefings, which provides a better understanding of effective debriefing practices and future research directions in sports
