Research on the physical changes of cereal seeds dried in the innovative equipment hybrid drying
Hybrid drying of cereal seeds is a modern drying method. Over time, more research has been carried out in the field of
grain drying, moving from convective drying as the commonly used method, to hybrid drying that combines the
convective phenomenon with that of thermal conduction or radiation. Current technology offers the possibility of using
hybrid methods of drying cereal seeds, which have the advantage of lower energy consumption and shorter drying time
compared to the convective drying method. The paper proposes the analysis of the physical changes that occur after the
hybrid drying of cereal seeds. The research was carried out by drying cereal seeds on an innovative hybrid drying
facility that uses both convection and microwaves. In this sense, the physical changes that occur in corn seeds were
studied, through determinations of humidity, changes in color, dimension, as well as changes related to the mechanical
resistance of the seeds. The maximum drying temperatures inside the dryer were between 48 and 50 °C, obtained at a
maximum microwave power of 2400 W, and a drying time of 3 seconds
A comparative study of the behaviour of Antirrhinum majus species cultivated in fields and in vertical systems for green façades under the climate conditions in the North-Eastern region of Romania
A highly popular and well-known flowering species for the unmistakable shape of its velvety and beautifully coloured flowers, Antirrhinum majus is often used in garden decor due to its long flowering period, ease of cultivation and low maintenance during the growing season. This study aims to investigate the behaviour of a dwarf variety of the Antirrhinum majus species grown in both vertical systems for green façades and also in a control field under the climate conditions in the north-eastern region of Romania. The façades of the vertical structure were been oriented towards a cardinal point, each of them having four equal layers arranged on height. The study found that this dwarf variety adapts very well to vertical systems, maintaining its ornamental features for a long time. During the experiment, observations included the diameter, height and number of flowers per plant in the control variant and on each side of the experimental structure.
The highest values in July and August for plant diameter, plant height and the number of flowers were shown for the western facade and the lowest for the control variant. Instead, the control variant in September held the first position showing the highest means for all three monitored parameters and the lowest were for the southern orientation
Effect of aging time, method and temperature on beef quality indicators
The meat business must produce consistently high-quality meat in order to satisfy consumers and improve consumption
frequency. Due mostly to its somewhat larger connective tissue composition, beef's sensory palatability features (e.g.,
increased muscle tissue hardness) have certain unfavorable traits (e.g., greater hardness). To reach the maximum degree
of quality and consumer satisfaction, the meat business, and specifically the beef sector, has developed many
procedures, including aging processes. The primary goal of this research was to examine the effects of varying the age
procedure (wet vs dry), the duration of aging (1, 10, or 15 days), the aging temperature (2, 4°C), on cuts of beef. Beef
carcasses or primal cuts are hung and matured for a certain period of time in a room controlled between 0 and 4 degrees
Celsius and 75 and 80% relative humidity for dry aging. For wet aging, beef is vacuum-sealed in special bags designed
to preserve its internal humidity. The pH of beef samples increased significantly (p < 0.001) during the period of
storage, with wet aging causing more significant results than dry aging. Dry aging and a higher temperature (4 °C) both
contributed to a significant increase in refrigeration losses over time (p < 0.01). Regarding the color parameters, L*, a*,
and b* values decreased over time in dry-aged beef (p < 0.001), whereas in wet-aged beef, the lightness increased in the
first 10 days and a* values diminished. The three variation factors had a substantial effect (p < 0.001) on the
approximate composition (method, time, and temperature). In the case of dry aging, the water content decreased at a
more pronounced rate over time, whereas the fat content increased with the loss of water content
Agrobiological value of some white grape varieties created at Research and development station for viticulture and vinification Odobești, Vrancea county, Romania
Vine varieties react differently
to the influence of environmental factors by
decreasing or significantly intensifying the
vigour of shoot growth, a biological reaction
that also affects fertility and productivity.
This article presents data on some
agrobiological properties (vegetative growth
of shoots, fertility and productivity) of some
white wine varieties, created at the Research
and Development Station for Viticulture and
Vinification (R.D.S.V.V.) Odobești, Vrancea
County, Romania) - Şarba, Băbească gri,
Mioriţa and Vrancea, in the period 2020 -
2021. The data obtained were compared with
the control variety Fetească regală. In
Odobeşti vineyard, 2020 was much warmer
than normal, characterized by a severely
deficient rainfall regime resulting in
atmospheric drought, followed by the gradual
development of pedological drought. The
vigour of shoots was negatively influenced
by the climatic conditions of the vegetation
period in 2020, the highest values being
recorded for the varieties Șarba (159.6 cm)
and Vrancea (141.5 cm), which showed
significant positive differences, compared to
the control variety. The fertility of the buds
was lower in 2020, compared to 2021, the
Vrancea variety being distinguished by higher
potential fertility than the varieties Șarba,
Băbească gri and Miorița, but lower potential
fertility than the control variety. The absolute
fertility coefficient (Cfa) had superunitary
values for all varieties (1.07 - 1.50), and the
relative fertility coefficient (Cfr) had
subunitary values, except for the Vrancea
variety (1.32). The varieties Șarba, Băbească
gri and Miorița achieved an absolute
productivity index (Ipa) superior to the
control variety Fetească regală due to the
higher average weight of the grapes, and the
relative productivity index (Ipr) ranged from
199 for the Vrancea variety to 182 for the
variety Șarba
The impact of two anticoagulants on erythrocytes morphology in different vertebrate species
In this study, we aimed to
highlight the influence of anticoagulants on
erythrocyte morphometry in different
vertebrate species. Anticoagulants are a
category of substances that inhibit blood
clotting through various mechanisms. Due to
this property, they are used to collect blood
samples for a wide range of laboratory tests.
The literature mentions that the use of
anticoagulants produces morphological
changes of erythrocytes, thus influencing
results. Blood samples were collected from
three warm-blooded vertebrate species
(horse, rabbit, and chicken) and one lower
vertebrate species with nucleated erythrocytes
(fish) in vacutainers with Heparin and EDTA
(ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid), in a normal
concentration and a double concentration. At
the time of harvesting, control smears were
performed. In order to be able to compare
the effects produced by anticoagulants on the
morphology of erythrocytes, they were
evaluated morphometrically at intervals of 3,
6, and 24 hrs. after harvest. The following
features were evaluated using the Toup View
software: length, width, surface and perimeter
of erythrocytes for species with anucleated
erythrocytes. The same characteristics were
evaluated in the nucleus for species with
nucleated erythrocytes. The data obtained
were processed with statistical programs to
highlight changes in erythrocyte morphology
produced by anticoagulants
Technical and economic efficiency of the drip irrigation system at S.C. Triticum S.R.L.
The new global challenges related to climate change, the efficient use of natural resources, sustainability or food
security require scientifically based and updated answers in order to create the general framework for ensuring the
balance of human-economic activity-nature system. The paper aims to highlight the technical-economic efficiency of
the drip irrigation system at S.C. Triticum SRL, an enterprise with agricultural profile from Neamț County, Romania. In
order to show the efficiency, the technical description, the analysis of the statistical indicators (based on the data
provided by the accounting balances made available), the correlation of the irrigation potential with the yield increase
and the identification of the productivity of the drip irrigation system were taken into account. The results of the study
indicate a significant increase in yield obtained as a result of using of the system compared to the non-irrigated version
(and implicitly an increase in the economic result recorded by the company). The research also identifies a much more
efficient use of the amount of water in relation with the increase in production. Drip irrigation systems can be sources of
added value in a green economy being elements that can contribute to ensuring the technical-economic performance of
agricultural holdings. Even if the initial investment is high, requiring additional efforts on the part of the beneficiary, the
calculations highlight the profitability of using such a system and also the results can be extrapolated to other economic
units in the agricultural sector with similar characteristics
The relationship between environmental factors, satisfaction with life, and ecological education: an impact analysis from a sustainability pillars perspective
The paper analyzes the link between three concepts: environmental values, ecological
behavior, and satisfaction with life. Various studies indicate the links between environmental values
and ecological behavior, satisfaction with life, and pro-ecological behavior, but no connection between
these three concepts. The paper aimed to develop such a research direction, namely sustainability as
an integrative concept. The existence of a complex conceptual model between three specific constructs
is analyzed. A questionnaire to 267 students from the universities of Iasi, Romania, was applied. To
identify the existence of some equations between components, PLS-SEM and PLS-MGA methods
were used, through SmartPLS3.9 and SPSS 18. The final model was a reflective-formative one on two
hierarchical levels, being made up of 5 latent variables and 18 observed ones. Only the existence
of significant equations between knowledge of environmental values and pro-ecological behavior
and between knowledge of environmental values and satisfaction with life was highlighted. The
multi-group analysis: although higher values are obtained among students from the rural compared
to urban, there are no significant differences. The influence of knowledge of environmental values
and ecological behavior on life satisfaction among students was highlighted. The results encourage
the continuation of research on a larger population, from an extended area

Comparative Influence of Biochar and Zeolite on Soil Hydrological Indices and Growth Characteristics of Corn (Zea mays L.)
Biochar and zeolite, due to their porous structure, are supposed to be appropriate soil amendments especially in agricultural areas with a lack of water or unsuitable soils with coarse texture. Two soil additions that are intended to assist an increase soil water content (AWC) are biochar and zeolite. With this aim, the effects of biochar and zeolite at two levels of 5 and 10 t ha−1 (known as B5, B10, Z5, and Z10) on soil hydrological properties and consequently corn growth were investigated in this study. The results showed that the application of B5 and B10 significantly improved AWC by 76% and 48% due to increasing soil micro- and meso-pores. The application of Z5 and Z10, associated with an increase of macro-pores in soil, enhanced saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ks) up to 174% and 303% and caused losses. The highest specific surface area and mean weight diameter in soil obtained from B10 had an increase of 171% and 197% over the control. Biochar treatments considerably affected plant growth features and shoot nutrient content, whilst zeolite treatments had an impact that is much less apparent than that of biochar. Observations indicate that biochar greatly boosted nutrient availability and water retention in the soil by raising the share of micro- and mezzo-pores, respectively, and as a result, has benefited plant growth. Increasing the level of biochar application from 5 to 10% would have more positive effects on the water available in the soil and on plant root systems. In contrast, the high rate of application of zeolite particles due to coarseness and adding Na+ ions to the soil caused the dispersion of soil particles, the destruction of soil structure, increasing Ks and water loss and consequently a reduction in plant growth
Influence evaluation of enzyme treatments on aroma profile of white wines
Improving aroma profile represents one of the principal goals in winemaking. This paper
focuses to evaluate the influence of enzymes applied before alcoholic fermentation of Feteasca
regala and Sauvignon blanc wines, even if most studies analyze their use in different winemaking
stages. Feteasca regala wines are described by higher proportions (1.07–4.28%) of ethyl octanoate
(exotic fruits), 3-methylbutyl acetate (pear, banana), hexanoic acid (creamy, phenolic, exotic fruits),
propan-2-yl acetate (ripe fruits, banana), and ethyl decanoate (floral, fruity, woody), while Sauvignon
blanc wines are distinguished by significant proportions (2.77–42.15%) of 3-methylbutan-1-ol (exotic
fruits), acetic acid (vegetal, sour), 1-phenylethanol (floral, honey), and diethyl butanedioate (fruity,
floral). Variables as 3-methylbutyl acetate-ethyl decanoate, ethyl decanoate-hexanoic acid (r > 0.8)
showed proportional levels in Feteasca regala wines. In Sauvignon blanc samples, positive correlations
were observed for 2-ethyl hydroxypropanoate-diethyl butanedioate or 2,3-butanediol-ethyl
4-hydroxybutanoate (r > 0.7). Data confirmed a significant influence of enzymes on wine’s aroma
profile (p < 0.05). The higher proportions of the most volatile compounds were obtained in samples
treated with pectinases, for both varieties. In correlation with the sensory analysis, these variants
showed the lowest intensity for negative descriptors such as phenolic sensation, the mineral or
bitter taste, demonstrating that pectinases can give more acceptable results regarding the sensory
perception compared to -glycosidases
