Food safety in the age of transparency: clean label products in the post-Covid-19 era
Clean-label products are defined as foods and beverages formulated with simple, natural, and familiar ingredients, instead
of using artificial ingredients and additives. The clean label movement has gained popularity because of a rise in consumer
demand for authentic, transparent, and healthier foods and beverages. In the post-COVID-19 era, the clean label trend has
evolved considerably, indicating a shift in consumer preferences and demands. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a
significant effect on consumer behavior, particularly regarding food safety and products with clear labels. According to
recent studies, during the pandemics, consumers have shown an increased interest in products with clean labels as they
seek healthier choices. In addition, the pandemic has impacted consumer purchasing patterns, with a shift toward
ingredient examination and an increased demand for healthful products. In conclusion, the COVID-19 pandemic has
highlighted the significance of the clean label trend, redirecting consumers toward safe, natural, and transparent food
products, and emphasizing the importance of local purchasing and sustainable supply chains
Agricultural trends in Romania in the context of the current trends of the world economy
The role of agriculture is an extremely important one because it provides the necessary production of foods for the population and, at the same time, represents a source of raw materials for different processing industries. For a growing population, agriculture has been the main source of agri-food products that must ensure the food security of the population. Compared to other states of Europe, Romania is one of the European countries with the most favourable soil and climate conditions for agriculture. The last world crises, from the crisis in 2008 to the pandemic crisis in 2020-2021, and especially to the current conflict between Russia and the Ukraine, have brought up the issue of food self-sufficiency. During the current period, it is important to know what production can be obtained in Romanian agriculture and if it can provide the food necessary for the population. An analysis regarding the dynamics of the cultivated areas and production of the main crops in Romania has been carried out, for each of its 8 development regions. The data, collected from different sources, were analysed using different methods. The research results highlight, for example, that Romania can easily achieve the self-sufficiency stage for most agricultural products of plant origin. In conclusion, natural resources, as well as the existence of a certain material base in Romanian agriculture, can ensure the increase of agricultural production, the satisfaction of the food needs of the population, as well as a certain availability for export
Research on the behaviour of shore defences to hydrodynamic erosion
Shore defences located in beds formed in weakly cohesive rocks are affected by the phenomenon of hydrodynamic erosion in a differentiated way. Research carried out over a period of about 20 years on a section of the Moldova River highlighted the behaviour of "heavy - concrete slabs" and "light – geo-bags" bank defences. The climate changes of the last period of time, which influenced the hydrological regime of the river, determined a rapid degradation of the shore protection made of concrete slabs. The replacement of the shore defence made of concrete slabs with a structure made of geo-bags filled with ballast influenced the behaviour of the shore to hydrodynamic erosion. At the same time, the shore protection made with geo-bags filled with ballast stabilized with cement allowed a better cooperation with the foundation ground consisting of weakly cohesive rocks. The defence made of geo-bags has a larger area and perimeter at the same cross-section of the river. This situation causes the reduction of the velocities and the frictional effort at the wall, respectively the reduction of the erosion effort
Seroepidemiological and anatomopathological investigations on Feline panleukopenia in Northeastern Romania
The objectives of this study are as follows: to carry out seroepidemiological and hematological investigations on feline
parvovirus infections in the north-eastern region of România and, on the other hand, to study the clinical and
anatomopathological aspects in parvovirus infections in cats, following the prevalence of feline paleukopenia cases in the
counties of Suceava, Botoșani, Iași and Vaslui, in România. To carry out the study, clinical examination, rapid commercial
immunochromatography tests for the detection of panleukopenia virus antigen from feces, blood count and monitoring of
cats infected with parvovirus in veterinary offices, as well as necropsy for deceased animals were used
Short Review on the Biological Activity of Cyclodextrin-Drug Inclusion Complexes Applicable in Veterinary Therapy
Cyclodextrins (CDs) are a family of carrier molecules used to improve the pharmacokinetic parameters of therapeutic molecules. These cyclic oligosaccharides have medical and pharmaceutical applications by being able to form inclusion complexes with molecules that are poorly soluble in water. The benefits of these complexes are directed towards improving the chemical and biological properties—i.e., solubility, bioavailability, stability, non-toxicity and shelf life of drug molecules. Since the 1960s, the first inclusion complexes used in therapeutics were those with α-, β- and γ-CD, which proved their usefulness, but had certain degrees of particularly renal toxicity. Currently, to correct these deficiencies, β-CD derivatives are most frequently used, such as sulfobutylether-β-CD, hydroxypropyl-β-CD, etc. Therefore, it is of interest to bring to the attention of those interested the diversity of current and potential future clinical applications of inclusion complexes in veterinary medicine and to present the contribution of these inclusion complexes in improving drug efficacy. The most important biological activities of β-CD complexed molecules in the veterinary field are summarized in this short review
Pyridazinic Bioisosteres with Potential Applications in Medicinal Chemistry and Agriculture
Bioisosteres are substituents or groups (atoms, ions, or molecules) with similar chemical or physical properties, and which usually have similar biological properties. Pyridazine and its derivatives are invaluable scaffolds in medicinal chemistry, having a large variety of activities such as antibacterial, antifungal, antimalarial, anticancer, antituberculosis, antihypertensive, etc. Also, the pyridazine core is of high interest in agriculture, being used as a growth factor for plants, herbicides, etc. This study aims to review our previous contributions related to antimicrobials and the germination and seedling capabilities of some seeds and plants of some pyridazine classical and nonclassical bioisosteres. So, we present herein the synthesis (under conventional thermal heating and microwave irradiation) and spectral characterization of seven series of pyridazine bioisosteres, the in vitro antimicrobial activity (against different strains of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and fungi), and the biologic effect on wheat germination and seedling growth. Some pyridazine bioisosteres proved to have very good activity against pathogenic bacterial strains, with some spectacular results. Overall, nonclassical bioisosteres prove to have better antibacterial and antifungal activity compared with classical bioisosteres. The pyridazine bioisosteres may influence the wheat germination rate, seedling growth, height, and weight of the plantlets. Feasible explanations for this behaviour were furnished

drought and flooding increase due to the
change in climate, which has a negative
impact on crop productivity and food
security. The aim of this paper was to
demonstrate the role of corn in carbon
sequestration based on plant biomass and
soil organic carbon accumulation. We
presented the main factors that contribute to
carbon sequestration and concrete examples
regarding the capacity of corn hybrids
created at National Agricultural Research
and Development Institute (NARDI)
Fundulea, as well as aspects regarding the
importance of soil tillage and fertilisation. In
contrast to genotypes in which this ratio was
lower, maize genotypes that demonstrated a
rise in the root:stem ratio under drought
stress conditions produced more biomass,
suggesting that the roots of these genotypes
can grow at water potentials where stem
growth is inhibited, which are attributes that
also prove their good potential for carbon
sequestration under climate change
conditions. The organic carbon content in the
superficial soil layer decreased with the
intensification of the degree of soil
mobilisation (9.95% when working the soil
with the chisel, 17.91% for ploughing), but
fertilisation had a beneficial effect. The
biomass was higher than that of the
unfertilised soil. This means that a higher
carbon input has a positive influence on the
carbon stock in the soil
Comportarea soiului pentru struguri de masă ʹputnaʹ în podgoria odobești în condițiile anilor 2020-2022
The study falls within the general context of research on the agrobiological and technological value of vine varieties for table grapes existing in the culture, adapted to the changing climatic conditions permanent. The ʹʹPutna variety was obtained at RDSVO Odobești through intraspecific sexual hybridization between the ʹCeaușʹ x ʹMuscat de Alexandriaʹ varieties and approved in 2014. In the climatic conditions of the study period (2020-2022) the ʹPutnaʹ table grape variety showed good fertility (70.2% fertile shoots), medium growth vigor good tolerance to the main cryptogamic diseases. Medium-sized grapes (299.7 g) reached consumption maturity in the first decade of September, achieving an average production of 5.97 kg/bunch, of which 82.9% was commodity production. It showed a high potential for the accumulation of sugars in the grains (187.7 g/L), with an average total acidity value of 4.6 g/L H2SO4, very well balanced glucoacidimetrically (27.3), that place it in the group of valuable table grape varieties
Influența tratamentelor cu biofungicidul Carbecol și biofertilizantul Ecolit asupra conținutului de azot, fosfor și potasiu la plantele de tomate (Solanum lycopersicum L.)
The impact of treatments with ecological plant protection products on nutrient status of tomato plants is not elucidated. A green house experiment was conducted with the purpose to determine the influence of treatments with a new biofungicide Carbecol and biofertilizer Ecolit on nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium contents in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.), cultivar Tolstoy. The experiment included 6 variants, a control one (untreated) to which no treatments were applied. Carbecol was applied alone or in combination with biofertilizer Ecolit. Experimental results revealed an increase in the nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium contents in treated tomato plants. Hence, the results of the study demonstrated that the integrated use of ecological plant protection product Carbecol and biofertilizer Ecolit has the potential to improve mineral nutrition of tomato plants.
