Efficacy of an innovative product based on zeolite in the prevention of parturient paresis in dairy cattle
The purpose of this paper was to develop a versatile and easily applicable product for dairy cows, based on zeolite (Zeolites Development SRL, Rupea, Romania), for the prevention of hypocalcemic parturient paresis. The study was performed in an intensive dairy farm, on a total of 180 Holstein cows, 5 to 7 years of age, with an average milk production of over 8000 liters/lactation. Two zeolite porosities (P1=0.4 nm and P2=0.6 nm), two doses of zeolite (D1=25 g/kg forage, D2=10 g/kg forage) and two time intervals for administration (T1=starting 2 weeks before parturition and continuing for 60 days after parturition, T2=starting 2 months before parturition and continuing for 60 days after parturition) were tested, in all possible combinations. Blood tests were performed before the beginning of the experiment, one week before parturition, the day of parturition (onset of lactation), 48 hours and 7 days later, as well as in peak lactation, approximately 2 months after parturition. Administration of zeolite had a positive effect on all dairy cow groups, regarding their health status, parturient paresis prevention and fluctuation of blood biochemical parameters. The incidence of parturient paresis decreased more or less significantly in the experimental groups, as compared to the control group, which also corelated with the results of blood biochemistry. The average calcium blood level was normal in all groups before the beginning of the experiments and showed a tendency to decrease at the time of parturition. The decrease was higher in the control group as compared to the experimental groups, which was confirmed by the highest number of clinical cases of parturient paresis for this group. Two months after parturition, the calcium blood level was restored to normal in all cows. The recommended administration protocol for parturient paresis prevention is 20 g zeolite (0.4-0.6 nm porosity)/kg forage, starting two weeks before parturition and continuing until 60 days after parturition
Metoda de analiză spectrofotometrică a metamizolului din tabletele farmaceutice: investigarea linearităţii, a limitei de detecţie şi a limitei de cuantificare
The aim of this research was to exactly quantify the pure sodium metamizole content frompharmaceutical tablets, by using a spectro-photometric analysis method in visible range. The method applied has been subjected to a validation protocol which consisted in analyzing the following parameters: linearity of the method, limit of detection (LD) and limit of quantification (LQ). The pure sodium metamizole amount in a pharmaceutical tablet was found to be 477.477 mg, assigned to a percentage content of 95.495 %, close to official declared amount (500 mg), presentingan average percentage deviation of 4.505 % from the officiallystatedactive substance content. This value was situated below the maximum admissible percentage deviation of active substance content (± 5%), stated by Romanian Pharmacopeia, X-thEdition
Histological aspects concerning the stomach of grass snake Natrix Natrix
Recent studies have described the importance of snakes, in relation to their utility in several medicinal fields. However, gaps are common in the field of snake histology, which is part of the basic knowledge on these animals. Similarly, not enough information has been published on the digestive system of the grass snake (Natrix natrix). Natrix natrix was first described in 1758, by Linnaeus. It is sometimes called the ringed snake or water snake, and it belongs to Reptilia Class, Squamata Order, Serpentes Suborder, Colubridae Family, Natrix Genus. The grass snake is widely distributed in mainland Europe, northern Africa and the Middle East. It is considered one of the most common snakes in Romania. The gastric wall reveals four layers: mucosa, submucosa, muscular layer and serosa. The mucosa has projections to the lumen, similar to those of the mammals and is composed of a lining epithelium with non-ciliated simple columnar cells (cambered), lamina propria and gastric glands. Lamina propria is composed of richly vascularized connective tissue. Two categories of glands were observed: mucosal glands, located on top, made of mucosal cells, with flattened nuclei at basal pole and vacuolar cytoplasm; serous glands, located at the bottom, made of serous cells, with central spherical nuclei and intensely colored cytoplasm. The submucosa is well represented and richly vascularized. The muscle layer of the wall was composed of an inner circular, and an outer longitudinal layer. the maximum thickness is associated with the posterior area. The serosa is composed of richly vascularized and innervated connective tissue
The importance of arterial hypertension in geriatric dogs and asoociated diseases
Systemic hypertension is an increasingly diagnosed disorder in dogs and cats and frequently occurs secondary to chronic kidney disease. Prevention of damage to organs such as the kidneys, brain, heart, and eyes is one of the primary concerns in the management of veterinary patients with hypertension. Hypertension can be classified as primary (essential) or secondary. Essential hypertension refers to hypertension for which the cause remains unknown after extensive diagnostic testing, whereas secondary hypertension is associated with underlying disease or administration of hypertensive agents. In contrast to humans, essential or idiopathic hypertension is rare in veterinary patients. In cats and dogs, systemic hypertension is most often associated with another disease or condition such as: Renal disease, hyperadrenocorticism, Hyperthyroidism, Pheochromocytoma, Primary hyperaldosteronism, Diabetes mellitus, Renal disease, especially chronic kidney disease (CKD), is the most common cause of hypertension in dogs; approximately 31% to 93% of dogs may be hypertensive. The Main objective of this study is to determine the importance of the detection of arterial hypertension in elderly dogs and its impact on the pathogenesis of associated diseases. Other objectives are, to determine the prevalence of hypertension in elderly dogs, the significance of the clinical manifestations of systemic hypertension and the prevalence of the most common diseases affecting geriatric dogs
Study on the economic implications of the retained placenta in cows in a farm from Brașov county
Retained fetal membranes is an issue that has been debated over the years, especially regarding the treatment,
because it is wanted to implement a therapeutic option that affects, as little as possible the female reproductive life, thus
reducing the associated economic implications of this pathology. In this study, we have analyzed the cases of retained
placenta in a farm from Brasov county. The aim of this study was to verify the incidence, diagnosis, treatment of the
retained placenta in cows and its economic implications. In this study were included 248 bovines that have calving in
the interval January 2015-December 2017. Of these, a number of 29 animals have been found with retained placenta,
which represents 11.69%. All 29 bovine animals were treated by manual detachment of the placenta. Economic losses
stem mainly from the treatment of the retained placenta and the treatment of the uterine infections, as well as from the
longer duration of the service period and calving interval
Studii asupra valorii agrobiologice şi tehnologice a soiurilor de struguri pentru vinuri aromate cultivate în podgoria Iaşi
The purpose of this paper is to study the climatic conditions of 2017 and to correlate them with the quality of the grape varieties for aromatic wines (Busuioacă de Bohotin, Tămâioasa românească and Muscat Ottonel), from the Ampelographic Collection of the Faculty of Horticulture Iasi. The climatic conditions specific to 2017 and their influence on production (grape mass, sugars, acidity, mass of 100 berries, etc.) were analyzed. The line of production specific to Iasi vineyard, namely the production of aromatic wines, should be maintained also under the current climatic conditions
Researches regarding weed control in winter wheat in the context of climate changes
The aim of the researches carried out in Tămădăul Mare village from Călăraşi county, during 2015-2018 was the weeds
control in winter wheat crop. The segetal flora that infests wheat crops in Romania is varied both in species and
especially as a species-related relationship, being subject to permanent changes, especially in the context of climatic
changes. The changes occurred in the structure of the segetal flora represent the qualitative and quantitative expression
of the influence of the soil seed stock dynamics, of the changes in the plant cultivation technology and of the weed
control management, of the climatic variations and, last but not least, of the influences related to the economic and
social factors. These changes involve and justify permanent monitoring of weed structure and dynamics in a certain
territory in order to establish the most effective and rational methods of control, having the effect of reducing the yield
losses. In wheat cultivated fields, aspects related to: the dynamics of the degree of weed infestation, the identification of
the problematic weeds, the criteria for choosing the most effective herbicides and the optimal moments of application
were studied. The best results in weed control of autumn wheat crops were obtained by integrating agrotechnical,
phytotechnical and chemical measures, conclusion resulting also from this study
Alternative methods of therapy in articular disorders in dogs and cats
Alternative medicine has no clear definition, consistent and universally accepted, but most often is defined as all products, practices and healthcare systems that are not part of conventional medical system. Complementary medicine or medicine called unconventional, alternative medicine can help treat various diseases where conventional medicine does not offer solutions. Joint diseases, particularly chronic ones, requires a long therapy with anti- inflammatory drugs, often resulting in the occurrence of secondary reactions, which require cessation of therapy, leaving the patient with pain and physical discomfort. For the most efficient and rapid recovery of locomotor or joint functions, it is recommended to apply alternative methods. In most cases of joint diseases, alternative medicine is not used alone, but together with allopathic medicine, conventional treatments to increase the efficiency and represents the combination of the most effective practices and methods of traditional medicine with conventional medicine
Boosting the entrepreneurial spirit - a structural model
The aim of the paper is to design a structural model for boosting entrepreneurship spirit. The model is based on the
structural human matrix, respectively the relationships that are created between the biological, the information and the
energetic DNA. From a methodological point of view, the paper presents critical approaches to phenomena studied
through observation, a qualitative method representative for research in the field of economics and sociology. Data was
also collected through unstructured interviews with various entrepreneurs. The research results indicate the following: i)
entrepreneurship exists in a latent state in each individual's DNA; ii) entrepreneurial skills require a triggering factor;
iii) entrepreneurial skills can be stimulated by identifying the gold proportion that produces critical mass of emotions,
moods and information; iv) once the entrepreneurial spirit has been triggered, the model of thought must be simple,
step-by-step and dichotomous
