Impact of zinc uptake on morphology, physiology and yield attributes of wheat in Pakistan
A pot experiment was
conducted in the Old Botanical Garden,
University of Agriculture Faisalabad, to
assess the effect of zinc uptake on
morphological, physiological and yield
attributes of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.).
Two varieties of wheat, i.e. W-141 and
W-142, procured from Ayub Agricultural
Research Institute (AARI), Faisalabad,
Pakistan, were used during this study. The
soil used during experiment was field soil
from university fields having sandy loam
texture. The experiment was laid out in a
completely randomized design (CRD) with
five treatments and four replicates. Different
treatments of zinc were applied on different
intervals. After 25 and 35 days of
germination, the plants were subjected to
three levels of ZnSO4 (0, 400 mgL-1, 600
mgL-1). During the experiment, the harvests
were taken after 10 days of intervals for
morphological and physiological analysis.
After the maturity of plants, final harvest
was taken and yield attributes were
recorded. Data of various morphological,
physiological and yield attributes were
statistically analyzed. The results showed
that zinc toxicity had adverse effects on the
wheat varieties. The variety W-141 was a
little bit tolerant to zinc toxicity, as per
shown by the results, as compared to
W-142, which suffered by the toxicity of
zinc. It was also revealed by the results that
zinc affects the morphological,
physiological and yield attributes of wheat
when applied in toxic concentration
The relevance of a metabolic profile analysis in the protocol of testing the bioequivalence of antihelmintic products on sheep
The analysis of biochemical blood indices is essential for testing the bioequivalence and drug
bioavailability. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relevance of the metabolic profile as an indicator of health on
a sheep sample and the bioequivalence testing of two anthelmintic products in view of interchanging them in therapeutic
practice. The research required a sample of 36 clinically healthy sheep. The sheep were selected on the premise of their
health parameters being within the physiological, clinical and hematological indexes. One unicentric, randomized,
cross-over with two-stage, two treatments and a pause were used in the test, including: initial screening and animal
selection, phase I, washout, phase II, and final screening. Determination of blood biochemical indexes was performed
during initial and final screening and consisted of blood samples (on EDTA) by automatic method, with VetScan analyzer
and Large Animal Profile kits, including: ALP-alkaline phosphatase (U / L), AST (U / L), GGT-gammaglutamyltransferase
(U / L), BUN-ureic nitrogen in the blood (mmol / L), total protein (g / L), GLOB-globulins (g / L),
Ca-calcium (mmol / L), P-phosphorus (mmol / L), Mg - Magnesium (mmol / L). The results obtained revealed significant
oscillations of most of the biochemical blood indices, but within the physiological range of the species and age, with
some exceptions. Deviations consisted of ALP, CK and albumin slightly rising above the upper physiological limits,
which we associated with stress-induced manipulation. Considering that the physical effort intensifies the CK activity,
we attribute the higher values recorded in some sheep to the muscular effort generated by the natural grazing and the
manipulation during the test. On the other hand, the slight increases in albuminemia correlated with dehydration. The
integration of the values obtained in the evaluation of the biochemical blood indexes in the results of the clinical,
haematological and statistical parameters was the confirmation that the sheep's health was in accordance with the
requirements imposed by the protocol elaborated for the bioequivalence testing of the anthelmintic products tested
Quality assessment of some meat products manufactured in Transylvania area for public comsumption
Meat products are a part of food industry that has become increasingly important in the diet of consumers. Meat products are consumed mainly due to increased nutritional value but also to other aspects such as the ready to eat, increased shelf life, cost, etc. In order to ensure the hygienic quality of meat products, the quality of raw materials and the hygiene practices during all manufacturing steps must be strictly controlled. The aim of the study was to evaluate the chemical composition and hygienic quality of some meat products manufactured in the central area of Transylvania by three processing companies (A, B, C). The research material was represented by 45 samples of meat products collected between February and June 2018 from the different hypermarket located in Transylvania. All the samples were analyzed for moisture, protein, fat, and collagen with FoodScan equipment. Aerobic plate count, Enterobacteriaceae, and E. coli were analyzed using standardized methods and PCR method were used for specie identification. The main chemical compositional non-compliances were identified at the moisture parameter at which all categories of products analyzed showed higher values, especially for B and C and protein, respectively, where lower values were found in the case of the Parizer obtained by manufacturer B. Fresh sausages exhibited the highest level plate count, Enterobacteriaceae and E. coli, while the raw, dried and smoked sausages exhibited the lowest level of contamination. Enterobacteriaceae and E. coli were not found in any of the raw, dried and smoked sausages samples. Salmonella spp. was not isolated from any of the samples. The percentage of fraud products was 13%, mainly in the case of pork and poultry meat products
Influenţa aplicării unor fertilizanţi diferiţi asupra producţiei de păstăi la trei cultivare de fasole pitică
The paper aim is to evaluate the production capacity of three varieties of dwarf bean -Ferrari, Rocquencourt and Maxidor (C) -under different fertilization conditions: organic-Orgevit-600 kg/ha, chemical-50 kg/ha, with microorganisms-50 kg/ha and the non-fertilized control variant. The experiment was established in the Experimental Field of Vegetable Growing, the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Iasi, in the 2016-2017 period. The crop was set up by direct sowing in the field, in three-rows bands, the distance between the bands being 60 cm and between the rows 45 cm. Plant spacing was set at 5 cm, resulting in a density of about 400 thousand plants/ha. The experimental results, under the above mentioned conditions, demonstrate the usefulness of the fertilization of the dwarf bean culture for the pods, the highest yield being obtained by applying chemical and microorganisms fertilizatio
The ethanol extracts and essential oils from Pinus sylvestris and Pinus nigra
The purpose of this study was to quantify the extraction of dry substances and essential oils from the needles of
P. sylvestris and P. nigra, growing under the conditions of the Republic of Moldova. The moisture content in needle
samples of both plant species Pinus sylvestris and Pinus nigra increased from March to September, while the
concentration of solid compounds decreases. Nevertheless, the dry substances in the extracts obtained from needles
collected in spring and autumn was not significantly different. The solids content in extracts of 96 % ethanol in ratio raw
materials: solvent 1: 5 after their decantation and filtration was 4.4–4.6 % for P. sylvestris and 5.0–5.1 % for P. nigra. It
was found that the optimal duration for extraction of essential oils from previous dried needles of both species P. sylvestris
and P. nigra using the hydrodistillation method is 4.0 hours. The maximal yield of essential oil extracted by studied
procedure was about 0.6 and 0.5% for P. sylvestris and P. nigra, respectivel
Studii privind influenţa încărcăturii de rod atribuită la tăiere asupra potenţialului tehnologic al soiurilor roşii de viţă de vie cultivate în centrul viticol Copou Iaşi
The quantity and quality of the grape production depends on the biological potential of the varieties, the favorability of climatic conditions and the eye loads left to be cut. Achieving quality production with healthy grapes, high sugar concentrations and high phenolic content is a priority for viticulturists. In order to determine the influence of the fruit load attributed to cutting on the technological potential of the red varieties cultivated in the Copou Iaşi vineyard, the varieties Arcaş and Cabernet Sauvignon were studied. Three loads were tested: 20 eyes / bud (T1),36 eyes / bud (T2) and 28 eyes / bud (M). The T1 variant was highlighted with reduced eye load, which positively influenced the size of the grapes, the accumulations of sugars and the phenolic compound content
Cercetări privind efectul unor tratamente aplicate seminţelor de Phoenix Dactylifera înainte de semănat
Date palm is a plant utilised both for its ornamental features as well as for its edible fruits. At this species seed’s germination is realised with difficulty, germination duration, without interventions on seeds, could be between 8 and 12 months. The current paper present some aspects regarding the effect of some treatments applied to Phoenix dactylifera seed before sowing, on their germination and on plant’s growing. So, were organised seven experimental variants: one control variantat which wasn’t applied any treatment, a variant at which seeds were subjected to a mechanical treatment (filing),two hydrothermal variants and three variants with peroxide (3%) with different exposure period. Treatment of seeds before sowing caused the shortage of germination period up to 90 days. The best results were obtained at variant at which was applied the treatment with peroxide for 3 minutes, which caused a germination rate of 80%. At all variants at which were applied treatments, were obtained very significant results in comparison with control variant
Young farmers attitude to innovation in Vojvodina (Serbia)
The aim of the work was gathering information on the recent position of Young farmers in order to estimate their
intention of innovation, the development of the farm and the possibilities in the increase of their competitiveness. Data
came from a broader research in the DKMT Euroregion (Vojvodina, West Romania and South-East Hungary). Young
farmers were interviewed (n=20) with a standard questionnaire. The survey was not representative. The answers were
processed by Lickert-scale. During the questioning we focused on: the level of mechanization and technology of the
farm; the genetic background of the applied varieties and breeds; the used digital technology, information resources,
marketing and the factors of motivation to innovate. Most of the answerers were self-employed or family farm. They
characterized themselves as: average size farms with average technologies on chernozem soils. They considered
important precondition for the innovation of farming the following factors: new and stabile market of agricultural
products, predictable economic environment, the use of funds (subsidies), get know new technologies and obtain
information continuously (agricultural advisors, farmers’ meetings, agricultural programs in television, professional
journals and books). They found less important the role of internet sites, research results and the offers of companies.
The farmers are hardly ready to cooperate with research institutes, because they are afraid of the risks of the
experiments. All of them aware of the advantages and disadvantages of a possible EU accession of Serbia, and the legal
regulation of CAP
