Bovine and swine parthenots generating through electrical stimultion of the oocytes

    No full text
Electrical stimulation is an alternative to chemical activation to induce 2+ influx, responsible for the formation of pores in the cellular membrane. In order to activate the oocytes, electrical stimulation (E.S.) was performed on 30 oocytes derived from gilts (L1), sows (L2), heifers (L3) and cows (L4). We considered that the stage of development of four cells is eloquent for certifying the ES's division triggering and the results we are considering only refer to these parthenots. Following application of ES, oocyte activation occurred as follows: 6.6% at L1, 16.6% at L2, 20% at L3 and 46.6% at L4. It is obvious the higher maturation rate of oocytes from adult females as compared to young females (16.6% in sows versus 6.6% in gilts and 46.6% in cows versus 20% in heifers). The method of electrical stimulation of oocytes in the fusion chamber used in this paper is effective for activating the division in both bovine and swine oocytes. Activation of oocyte division following electrical stimulation is clearly superior when using oocytes from adult females. The electrical stimulation method used generated the upper division activation in cattle compared with the results obtained using swine oocytes

The water supply system pipe networks are made of tubes and pipes joined by sockets or welds, on which a series of fittings are placed. The construction unit interacts with the degradation factors present on site. The research has shown that the main external mechanisms of pipe degradation result from the physico-chemical properties of the site's ground and external loads. External processes, which occur on the ground, lead to the degradation of the pipe network through the appearance of micro-pores, pores, fissures or cracks. Under specific operating conditions, water emission areas can become entering pathways for pollutants from the external environment inside the pipeline, causing the contamination of the drinking water conveyed. Considering the hydro-climatic phenomena in recent years, which have put pressure on viable drinking water resources, it is necessary to identify the external sources of degradation of the pipe networks

The influence of treatments with different phytosanitary products (fungicides) on the attack of some phytopathogenic fungi and on wheat harvest – glosa variety - in 2017 pedoclimatic conditions of the Eastern Bărăgan

This study aims at monitoring the dynamics of the occurrence and evolution of the attack of some pathogenic agents to wheat – Glosa Romanian variety. Among these, we mention: Puccinia recondita f. sp. tritici (sin. Puccinia triticina) which produces wheat’s brown rust and Septoria sp. which produces wheat’s brown leaf spotting (septoriosis). Also, the influence of applying these fungicides on the harvest was monitored, as compared to the untreated control variant. 2 experiments with 4 variants (3 variants with phytosanitary treatment, plus a control variant not treated) were taken into consideration for this study, for which 3 phytosanitary products, homologated for wheat (according to PEST – EXPERT), were used, as follows: ACANTO PLUS (picoxistrobin + cyproconazole); FALCON (proquinazid + tebuconazole + prochloraz); MYSTIC 250 EC (tebuconazole). The treatment variants were the following at the first experiment: V1 - ACANTO PLUS 0.5 L/HA 1 treatment applied at straw’s extension + 1 treatment applied at berries’ filling, V2 - FALCON 460 EC 0.6-0.7 L/HA 1 treatment applied at straw’s extension (0.6 l/ha) + 1 treatment applied at berries’ filling (0.7 l/ha), V3 - MYSTIC 250 EC 0.5 L/HA 1 treatment applied at straw’s extension + 1 treatment applied at berries’ filling and V4 - Control variant not treated. The experiment was placed in Latin square; the 4 variants being placed in 4 repetitions. Among the pathogenic agents under monitoring, Puccinia recondita f.sp. tritici fungus, producing the brown rust and the fungi from Septoria sp species, producing brown leaf spotting (septoriosis), had produced the greatest attacks. The first two leaves placed under the wheat ear had been analyzed for the above. These observations had led to the conclusion that for all 3 treatment variants, the degree of attack (D.A. %) of the two diseases was more reduced than at the untreated control variant. The harvests of the treated variants (V1 8.36 t/ha, V2 – 8.46 t/ha and V3 – 7.8 t/ha) were higher than the harvest of the untreated control variant V4, being of 7.78 t/ha. The treatment variants at the second experiment were identical with the ones from the first experiment in what concerns the products used. The difference consisted in the fact that one single treatment was executed at wheat plants’ blooming at the second experiment. For this experiment, the harvests were: 8.00 t/ha at the untreated control variant (V4), while at the other 3 variants were: V1 - 8.48 t/ha, V2 - 8.56 t/ha and V3 - 7.88 t/ha

Production dimension and potential of permanent grasslands of Romania in relation to animals growth

    No full text
Permanent grassland is part of the national land heritage, the destination of which can never be changed. The current surface of Romania's permanent grasslands is estimated at 4.81 million hectares, representing 20% of the country's surface area and 34% of the agricultural area, surface that increased by 9% compared to 1990. Romania's permanent grasslands are found in all the altitude zones, from the Black Sea shore to the alpine peaks, being permanently under the influence of the natural factors of these areas (soil, slope, altitude, exposition, etc.), resulting in a decrease in the degree of use of the resulting phytomass as animal feed. Thus, it is estimated that out of the total area of grassland about 17% (780 thousand hectares) are affected by natural limiting factors. Bovines are found in 50% in the plain area, 30% in the hill area and 20% in the mountain area. Sheep and goats are found in the highest proportion in the hill area (40%), followed by the plain and mountain areas by 30%. In the current situation of the distribution of ruminant animals, on relief areas, except for hill and mountain meadows where there is a green mass overflow in these areas, the largest green mass deficit is found in the plains (75%)

Two field experiments were carried out to investigate the optimum nitrogen rate (80, 100 and 120 kg N fed.-1; Fed = 0.38 ha) and stimulative compounds, i.e. foliar spraying with water, as control, Azotobacter spp. and Azospirillum spp., yeast, compost tea and humic acid on vegetative growth, yield, quality, as well as storability of bulb yield of onion (Allium cepa L.) under North Delta conditions. The results showed that the vegetative growth was positive influenced, also yield its components, quality and storability of onion were related to the medium rate of nitrogen (100 kg N fed.-1). Furthermore, foliar spraying with humic acid at the rate of 1 kg fed.-1 led to a significant increment in the most of vegetative growth characteristics, as well as total bulb yield and its components, bulb quality and storability of onion. Both of 100 kg N fed.-1 and spraying humic acid at the rate of 1 kg fed.-1 significantly increased most vegetative growth characteristics, total and marketable bulbs yield fed.-1, bulb quality and storability of onion. So, this study concluded that onion farmers at North Delta of Egypt should fertilize onions with nitrogen at the rate of 100 kg N fed.-1 with spraying humic acid at the rate of 1 kg fed.-1 to achieve the highest economic yield

The situation of lands arranged with drainage works from the Dragoieşti-Berchiseşti system, Suceava county

    No full text
The surface and subsurface drainage systems carried out for eliminating the excessive moisture on agricultural lands were designed with respect to the exploitation of surfaces on the drainage sectors. When establishing and rebuilding the ownership right (1991 year), the orientation of the drainage lines and the drainage channels network was not considered. Thus, the terrain plots are located perpendicularly, parallel or at a sharp angle to the tile drains and / or drainage channels. This paper present aspects of removal of excess water from agricultural lands arranged with drainage works and exploited on parcels oriented along the level curves and perpendicular to them respectively. The different soil works performed on each individual plot has led, in time, to land shaping in ridges and furrows of variable widths, level differences and transverse slopes, depending on the width of the plots, on the manner in which they are used and on the machinery employed for the agricultural works conducted. The modelling of land in ridges and furrows causes an uneven removal of water excess from the soil surface. In the parcels oriented along the level curves, the modelling of the land causes the stagnation of water on trenches, prolongation of water excess, gradual passing from the category of arable use to hayfield and the installation of hygrophilous vegetation. The modelling of the land to parcels oriented perpendicularly to level curves the removal of water excess, which allows the performance of spring agricultural works in good conditions and in due course, ensuring the acquiring of high production

Parasitic diseases occupy a major place in goat farms, antiparasitic preparations are numerous, with different efficacy and costs, and if the cost is too high it becomes an inconvenience for goat breeders. The aim of this study was to know the main parasitoses that can be encountered in a goat farm as well as to test the efficacy of the antiparasitic preparations used, depending on the active substance contained, the doses used and the route of administration. This study was conducted on goats with different breed: Saanen, French Alpine, Alba de Banat and Carpatina. From each age and sex category we chose 10 animals from which we harvested the necessary samples and whose treatment was monitored up to the final results. The groups have been numbered as follows: females-group 1, males-group 2, kids- group 3. The crust harvesting was performed depending on the suspected acariosis: for psoroptic mites, the scraping was superficial and from the edge of the lesions; for sarcoptic mites, deep scraping was performed, mites were found in the deep layers of the epidermis; to identify Demodex spp. it was necessary deep scraping, these mites being located at the base of the hair follicle and sebaceous glands; for the detection of pulmonary strongyles a larvhelmintoscopic method was used; for the detection of heavy trematode eggs the centrifugation method was used. Following the examinations, we initiated the treatment for gastrointestinal strongylosis, eimeriosis and scabies using Evomec (ivermectin), Ascacid (albendazole), Sulfaquinoxaline and Diazinol (diazinon). Mild infestations with gastrointestinal Strongyles in adults (100%), mild infestations with Scabies mites (3.3%) and massive infestations with Eimeria spp. in youngsters (100%) were encountered in the study. The therapy resulted in the insignificant elimination of the strongyl eggs, the total elimination of the mites and the elimination of less than half of the oocysts of Eimeria spp. In addition to deworming, prevention must be done, prophylaxis being achieved by maintaining farm hygiene, providing natural lighting, quality feed, avoiding weaning stress and restricting access of other species in accommodation

    No full text
Gamma irradiation is a widely manipulated mutation breeding approach in agriculture for producing crops with desired agronomic traits. The technique is particularly advantageous to conventional breeding methods because of minimal labor and time requirement. Under laboratory and field experiments during 2013, seeds of Linum usitatissimum L. were irradiated with 2, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28 and 32 krad of gamma irradiation doses from Co-60 source for evaluating their effects on germination, seedling survival, radicle and plumule lengths, vegetative growth and productivity. It was noted that radiation doses caused significant changes in the studied traits of test plant. Germination, radicle and plumule lengths in lab study while shoot length, number of leaves and leaf area, number of fruits plant-1, number of seeds fruit-1, husk weight fruit-1, number of branches plant-1, fresh and dry biomass and moisture content of shoots under pot culture varied significantly under the applied radiation stress. In general, radiation doses up to 8 kr had stimulatory effects on the studied parameters while doses exceeding 8 kr negatively influenced germination, growth and productive attributes of flax. Results observed both stimulatory and inhibitory effects of the irradiation doses. The study suggests that radiation doses above 32 krad induced lethal effects on general growth of flax

Rabbit viral hemorrhagic disease, known as viral necrotic hepatitis or hemorrhagic pneumonia, is a contagious disease with peracute or acute outcome and characterized by hyperthermia, prostration, hemorrhagic foamy discharge and mortality in 50-90% of cases. The main lesions are consisting in hemorrhagic diathesis, especially in lungs, liver and spleen. There are no evolution particularities regarding the age, breed, gender or species (domesticated or wild). The aim of this paper was consisting in describing the symptomatology and the pathology of hemorrhagic disease outbreak in rabbits. To the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Iasi were submitted for a physical examination 5 rabbits, 4 female and one male, crossbreed between Lionhead and Californian breed, 4 to 9 months old, kept in a private household, and. During the physical examination, the main symptomatology seen was consisting in sign of seizures, agitations, respiratory illness and nasal bloody and foamy discharge. Due to their bad conditions, the rabbits died shortly after the physical exam. The gross pathology was characterized by hemorrhagic diathesis, catarrhal-hemorrhagic rhinitis, laryngitis and tracheitis with the presence in lumen of a frothy and hemorrhagic liquid. The lesions seen in lungs were consisting in hemorrhagic pneumonia and edema, in liver a necrotic hepatitis, while in kidneys lesions with hemorrhagic pattern

Screening of trichinosis in wild boar in IASI county, N-E area of Romania in 2014-2018

    No full text
Unrealizing the control of wild boar, in the case of shotguns, may be the cause of the occurrence of positive cases of Trichinella in the county of Iasi. The completion of the epidemiological studies of the hunting funds in Iasi County contribute to the identification and confirmation of the presence of trichinella outbreaks. EFSA adopted on 3 October 2011 a scientific opinion on the public health risks to be taken into account when carrying out meat inspections. In this opinion EFSA notes that Trichinella represents a medium risk to public health related to meat consumption. EFSA identifies the sporadic presence of Trichinella in the United States mainly for swine fever or for those born in freedom. Annual surveillance of the same hunting funds for wild boar is an important tool for assessing the evolution of prevalence. Regulation (EC) No 853/2004 does not apply to wild boar which is supplied directly to the final consumer, so it is up to the Member States to adopt national measures to limit the risk of man being infected with Trichinella following wild boar consumption. The hunting funds from which the samples were collected are in Iasi County and represent the Turia Perieni area, Bahlui area and Mădârjac area. The samples were collected from the elected places. Between 2014 and 2018, we processed 200 samples, and the method used to detect the parasite was the compression method. Even if the results were negative, the study has brought new data on disease dynamics among wild boar population from Iasi county hunting grounds
