In the current paper are presented the resultsregarding behaviour of ‘Sissi’roses in cropping conditions of roses collection from UASVM Iaşi, Romania. During vegetation period were monitoring the following features: bush form, bush vigour, aspect of leafage, resistance at pathogen agents attack, rod and floral peduncle, flowering intensity, rosebud shape, shape of opened flowers, flower’s durability, colour of petals at opening, colour of petals at flowering, falling mode of petals, flowers’ perfume, other aspects (adaptability at cropping conditions). At the end of research was observed that ‘Sissi’roses had a very good adaptation at cropping conditions from the NE area of Romania, decorating from spring till late in autumn with flowers which had a delicate and tender perfume
Incidental histological changes in the canine central nervous system
The canine central nervous system pathology includes a series of histopathological changes, which are often underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed due to insufficient research in this field. The aim of the present paper is to emphasize the main cerebral changes identified incidentally in the canine species, involving 38 dogs from the Department of Pathological Anatomy (FVM Cluj-Napoca), diagnosed with various pathologies that did not develop nervous symptoms. Gross and histological exams of the encephalus from all dogs were carried out. The main important incidental findings of canine nervous system were represented by lipofuscinosis (68,4%), cerebral congestion and edema (47,3%) hemosiderosis (28,9%), neuromelanosis (21%), neuronal necrosis associated with satellitosis and neuronophagia (13,1%), vascular mineralization and diffuse meningeal fibrosis (13,1%). Perivascular cuffing and gliosis (13,1%), corpora amilacea bodies (5,2%), spheroid bodies (5,2%), have also been identified with a lower incidence. There have also been single-case findings during this study, represented by Alzheimer type II astrocytes, a psammomatous-type meningioma and parasitic Neospora spp. cysts. Thus, the results obtained and presented in this paper contribute to the enhancement of knowledge regarding the main lesions of the central nervous system in dogs, most of which were, at times, asymptomatic
Observations regarding ultrasound disgnosis of anestrus syndrome in dairy cattle
Visual transrectal ultrasonography is one of the most effective tools to study ovaries and uterine structures in cows. This study was conducted within a dairy cattle farm and aimed to highlight the importance of ultrasound examination for diagnosis of uterine and ovarian disorders in dairy cattle. During the study regarding ultrasound diagnosis of anestrus syndrome in dairy cattle, several types of genital pathologies were recorded. Thus, of all recorded uterine and ovarian disorders, 35 cases of endometritis (19.1%), 12 cases of acute metritis (6.5%), 26 cows with follicular cysts (14.2%), 21 cows with luteal cysts (11.5%), 42 cases of persistent corpus luteum (23%), 25 cows with ovarian inactivity (13.7%) and 22 cows with silent estrus (12%), were diagnosed. Reproductive tract ultrasound examination provides a more accurate identification and differentiation of ovarian and uterine disorders type, having a higher sensitivity and specificity than manual palpation, improving thus the diagnosis precision
Rezultate privind valoarea decorativă a unor taxoni de Eremurus cultivaţi în condiţiile de la Iaşi, România
Eremurus species are widespread in Central Asia and the Middle East and are commonly knownas desert candle or foxtail lily because of beautiful inflorescences(racemes) long, cylindrical, with brightly colored flowers (white, pink, orange, yellow, golden yellow etc.). Several species of Eremurus and their hybrids are growing for garden design or as long lasting cut flower,in big bouquets.Although they are less known in Romania, these plants can be used very well, being perennial, with good resistance to cold and drought. In this study isanalyzed the ornamental potential of three hybrids Eremurus x isabellinus (‘Cleopatra’, ‘Pinokkio’ and ‘Romance’), in north east of Romania conditions. Some biometric indicators reveal that the Eremurus hybrids analyzed are characterized by floral stems over 100 cm high (116.8-148.7 cm), inflorescences with lengths of approx.50 cm and diameter of plants 70-80 cm.The three hybridsensure a flowering period of approx.one month (May 24-June 22)
Seroepidemiological survey of human exposure to Dirofilaria spp. in Romania and Moldova
The present study aimed to evaluate the extent of Dirofilaria immitis and D. repens exposure in humans from
eastern and southern areas of Romania and central Moldova by serological methods. The serological screening
was performed on a total of 450 serum samples (187 from Romania and 263 from Moldova). The sera were
collected using a convenience sampling with the help of physicians from the hospitals of the study areas. All
samples were analysed by a non-commercial ELISA test for the detection of IgG antibodies against adult somatic
antigens of D. immitis and D. repens. The results showed a total of 49 (10.9%; 95% CI = 8.3–14.1%) individuals
from Romania and Moldova with a positive response to IgG antibodies against both adult somatic antigens of D.
immitis and D. repens. Specifically, 48 (10.7%; 95% CI = 8.0–14.0%) patients were positive for IgG-antibodies
against adult somatic antigens of D. immitis, one (0.2%; 95% CI = 0.4–1.2%) against D. repens antigens, and four
(0.9%; 95% CI = 0.4–3.3%). were positive for antigens of both parasites.
At country level, out of 187 samples from Romania, 13 (6.9%; 95% CI = 4.1–11.5%) were positive for anti-D.
immitis IgG with high exposure in the southern part of the country (Bucharest). Of the 263 people from Moldova,
36 (13.7%; 95% CI = 10.0–18.4%) were positive for D. immitis antigens from which three (1.1%, 95%
CI = 0.4–3.3%) were positive for the antibodies against antigens of both parasites. Only one sample was found
positive for anti-D. repens IgG.
Positive IgG-ELISA results were confirmed by Western blot analysis. In addition, for further confirmation, a
complementary ELISA was performed for anti-WSP IgG antibodies against Wolbachia endosymbionts. Our
findings showed a noticeable exposure of humans from Romania and Moldova to Dirofilaria parasites. Serology
can be useful for indicating exposure to Dirofilaria spp. in a healthy population in order to obtain useful data on
the epidemiological scenario of human dirofilariosis in Eastern Europe
Clinical and biochemical studies on contagious caprine pleuropneumonia with special reference to lipoproteins profile and fibrinogen levels
Contagious caprine pleuropneumonia (CCPP) is a worldwide disease that lead to great economic losses. The goal of this investigation was to investigate the hematological picture, lipid profile and fibrinogen levels in goats with CCPP. A total of 355 goats were selected for this study. CapriLAT Latex Agglutination test was used to detect antibodies rapidly against Mycoplasam capricolum subspecies capripneumoniae (Mccp) from serum samples ((N=355). Then paired blood samples were collected from 65 Mycoplasma capricolum subsp. capripneumoniae (Mccp)-infected goats (positive cases), together with 20 healthy controls. Lipid profile, blood hematology picture and some biochemical blood values were determined. The examined hematological parameters revealed a significant increase in total leucocytic counts, neutrophil and monocytes with a significant decrease in PCV value, hemoglobin content, RBC count in the goats with Mccp compared with the control group. Biochemical parameters examination revealed increased in the diseased goats, except high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c), and total cholesterol that found significantly decreased than control group. Fibrinogen value was consider higher in the diseased goats when compared to the control ones. This study will open avenue on the possible pathophysiological role of hematological parameters, lipid profile and fibrinogen in goats that affected with CCPP

Critical patiens: nutritional management in cats and dogs
Among the first symptoms the pet’s owner observes when the animal is sick is the lack of appetite. Although this lack of food appetite isn’t usually the cause of the illness it would have a delay effect of the healings. One of the usual point of view of the hospitalized dogs and cats lies in the delay of nutrition till the appetite or wish to be fed comes back .Still it is very well underlined the fact that the early nutritional management for the dogs and cats being in a critical state reduces the mortality, improves the answer to stress and trauma and brings upon healing. The lack of an adequate nutritional support of the hospitalized patients can lead to high infectious risk, delayed healing, muscular weakness and high mortality. To reach this goal it is recommended the supply of the patient with a caloric support and balanced proteic diet. The study has been done on 10 patients, 8 dogs and 2 cats from different breed. Clinical exams of the animals have been done, X-rays, Ultrasounds, biochemical and hematological analysis in order to achieve a correct diagnose of the illnesses of the patients and to establish an adequate treatment for them. From the accomplished research and the obtained results we conclude that nutrition within the patients in critic state improves the general health state of the patient, so that it must be imposed along with the drug treatment as well as to other treatment modalities the moment the patient is brought to the vet
Geographic distribution of canine heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis) infection in stray dogs of Eastern Romania
A survey was conducted in the eastern part of Romania to assess theprevalence and geographical distribution of Dirofilaria immitisindogs. Plasma samples were collected from 458 stray dogs hosted inshelters in 8 counties and tested serologically for the presence ofheartworm. In addition, 45 blood samples from dogs of a shelter inGalati city were examined by the modified Knott and multiplex poly-merase chain reaction (PCR) techniques. The immmunological assayshowed a heartworm infection prevalence of 8.9% in the dogs. Opticaldensity results for positive samples ranged between 0.217 and 2.683.Geographical information systems (GIS) were used to produce over-lays of distribution maps of D. immitisprevalence and predictive mapsbased on temperature suitability. High prevalence of D. immitiswasfound in the central East up to the northern border of the country, i.e.Galati county (60%), followed by the counties of Vaslui (12.0%) andIasi (7.7%). Out of 45 samples examined using the Knott test, 23 werepositive for circulating microfilariae (51.1%), while 19 dogs were pos-itive for D. immitisand 4 for both D. immitis andD. repens with themultiplex PCR test. The high prevalence for D. immitisshown in dogsin the Southeast (Galati, 42.2%) also by multiplex PCR gave strongsupport to the results achieved by the serological tests. The presentstudy confirms the ability of GIS to predict the distribution and epi-demiology of dirofilariosis in different geographical territories as hasbeen already demonstrated by the empirical epidemiological dataobtained at the continental, national and intraregional levels
Researches regarding the influence of fertilization on grains yield and quality at Sorghum bicolor L. in the pedoclimatic conditions from the Center of Moldova
Crop fertilization has beneficial effects on the productivity of sorghum crops although the species does not have high
demands on it. This is explained by the fact that the root system of sorghum is well developed and manages to extract
nutrients from the soil. Previous experiments show that mineral fertilizers contribute to the production increase with
40%. Under A.R.D.S. Secuieni pedoclimatic conditions, for a five years period (2013 – 2017) the influence of nitrogen
and phosphorus fertilizers on the soil production and quality was studied, and the conclusion was that sorghum reacts
well to the fertilization with these fertilizers. Significant production increases have been achieved in the variants
fertilized with doses starting from 80 kg a.s./ha of nitrogen and phosphorus, and the maximum level was recorded in the
variant fertilized with 120 kg a.s./ha of nitrogen and phosphorus. Of the five years of experimentation, the most
favorable for sorghum crop was 2013, a year characterized as very warm. This year's average production was high and
reached 7397 kg/ha. In each of the five years of experimentation, the maximum yield was achieved in the variants
fertilized with 120 kg/ha and its variation ranged between 5506 kg/ha (2015) and 7397 kg/ha (2013). The minimum
yield level was recorded each year in the non-fertilized variants, ranging from 3842 kg/ha (2014) to 4517 kg/ha (2017).
The highest production increase per 1 kg of active substance fertilizer was obtained each year in the variants fertilized
with 40 kg a.s./ha of nitrogen and phosphorus. The nitrogen and phosphorus fertilization has also influenced the grain
quality, which had a positive influence on the protein content and a negative influence on the starch content
