    Influence of different agricultural management practices on soil microbiome

    Microbiomes are the collection of all microbial inhabitants of a given system. At the level of the soil, the microbiome includes four major groups of microorganisms: bacteria, fungi, archaea, and protozoa, as they are the main organisms for essential soil processes such as nutrient cycling, decomposition of organic matter, and plant growth promotion. A healthy soil microbiome is essential for sustainable agriculture and the overall health of terrestrial ecosystems. Some agricultural management practices, i.e. irrigation, can have a significant impact on the soil microbiome. The quality and quantity of irrigation water can affect the abundance and diversity of microorganisms in the soil. For example, excess irrigation can lead to waterlogging, which can create anaerobic conditions that favour the growth of certain types of bacteria. On the other hand, irrigation water in the right amounts can have a positive impact on the soil microbiome and promote plant growth. To test this hypothesis in the agricultural year 2022, a research was carried out on maize and soybean grown under irrigated conditions, to analyse the variations of microbial density during the vegetation period

    Selected Characteristics of Multifloral Honeys from North-Eastern Romania

    The aim of this research was to evaluate some characteristics (moisture, total solid substances, specific gravity, pH, FA, ash, electrical conductivity, TPC and TFC, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium, phosphorus, zinc, copper, manganese, nickel, cobalt, and lead) of fifteen multifloral honey samples. The quality of the investigated honey was confirmed by the obtained results: moisture, FA, and EC values were below the limit value regulated by the legislation. The average content of total polyphenols and total flavonoids of 29.91 mg GAE/100 g and 2.13 mg QE/100 g confirm the antioxidant properties of honey. Determination of minerals showed that potassium (101.4–1212.6 mg kg−1) was the most abundant mineral in honey, followed by sodium (40.7–302.3 mg kg−1) and calcium (41.8–230.9 mg kg−1). Lead was found in two samples, with a content under the limit stipulation by legislation; nickel was found in one sample of 0.10 mg kg−1, and the content of cobalt was below the detection limit. Significant correlations (p < 0.001) were observed between mm Pfund and electrical conductivity, TPC, TFC, P, Ca, and Zn; strong correlations (p < 0.001) were between electrical conductivity with Ash, TPC, TFC, K, and P. FTIR analysis confirmed the differences obtained by analyzing multifloral honey samples

    The main purpose of the current paper is to highlight the impact of the design of a green wall in a medical recovery clinic where patients with various deficiencies are treated, which may or may not involve comorbidities. Due to the hospital environment, they chose to use lichens and stabilized plants, which don’t require additional costs or specialists for maintenance. Also, there aren’t risks related to the emergence of complications related to the patients’ health, and the colours of the plants are maintained for a long time and don’t require extensive spaces. A connection with nature has been found to reduce stress and remedy mental fatigue. This is due to our body’s automatic reaction to seeing and being around natural elements. The methodology of interior and exterior revitalization of a hospital is based on the knowledge of the principles of healing and the design of therapeutic gardens and their positive influence on the psyche, perception and health of human beings. This methodology concerns the connection between humans and nature, the influence of nature on a person’s psychological perceptions, the connection between nature and human health, and last but not least, the importance of green vegetation as a supplement to a treatment

    Effects of antioxidant treatment on cell differentiation in rabbit embryos

    The antioxidant coenzyme Q10 can influence the expression of genes involved in apoptosis and energy metabolism of oocytes and quercetin can improve oocyte maturation and early embryonic development. In this study, the gene expression of GATA6 and NANOG in rabbit embryos was assessed using the qRT-PCR reaction. The groups were: group A- control group (no treatment added), group B (hormonal treatment of superovulation, which included the administration of PMSG and hCG), group C (administration of quercitin) and group D (administration of Coenzyme Q10). Our results show that the expression of the two genes was different depending on both the stage of embryonic development and the treatment administered. The highest values of gene expression for GATA6 and NANOG were obtained in groups 2, 4, 7, 8 and 9, corresponding to morula and blastocyst stages. In addition to the fact that NANOG and GATA6 are factors that are involved in early embryonic development, we believe that the administration of extrapituitary gonadotropins and antioxidants contributed to the increase in gene expression

    Nitrogen feeding of winter peas at the spring vegetation recovery stage

    In a field experiment from 2020–2023 on the southern chernozems of the Odessa region of Ukraine, we studied the effect of the doses and timing of mineral nitrogen application when growing winter peas on the tuberization process and crop productivity. Mineral nitrogen in doses of 30, 45 and 60 kg/ha in the form of ammonium nitrate was applied in different development phases of winter peas under seedbed cultivation: foliar top dressing with urea solutions during the resumption of spring vegetation, the budding phase and the beginning of grain filling. Winter pea of the Enduro variety was sown annually on October 20, with a row spacing of 15 cm and a rate of 1.2 million germinating seeds per hectare. The previous crop was winter wheat. The conditions of the Southern Steppe of Ukraine for winter sown peas were shown for the first time. The introduction of mineral nitrogen at a rate of 30–60 kg/ha into the soil during sowing inhibited the formation of nodules from the active spring growth phase. The mass of nodules on the roots of pea plants decreased by 30–50% compared to the control variant without nitrogen application. The same norms of mineral nitrogen introduced in early spring during the resumption of vegetation on the leaf in the form of aqueous solutions did not have a negative impact on tuberization. The correlation coefficient between the dose of mineral nitrogen and the number and weight of nodules did not exceed 0.37, indicating a weak relationship between these indicators. The share of influence of mineral nitrogen norms did not exceed 13.7%. With this method of application, the nitrogen content in the vegetative mass of winter peas exceeded the control variant by 18–27%

    A case of bilateral cryptorchidism, ultrasound diagnosis and surgical therapy in tomcat

    Bilateral cryptorchidism is seldom in tomcats. Clinical diagnosis is challenging because the testicles can be located in the abdominal cavity, a situation in which they cannot be palpated, or in the inguinal region, a situation in which they are difficult to identify due to the subcutaneous fat layer. Ultrasound is the most available imaging method for diagnosing this pathology. The testicles have a characteristic structure that is easy to recognize. Ultrasound localization of the testicles allows the approach through a smaller incision, and the use of a castration hook to extract the testicle from the abdominal cavity. The blood vessels and ductus deferens can be ligated with absorbable suture material, but can also be sealed with bipolar forceps. The reason why vascular sealing with bipolar forceps was chosen was to reduce surgical time and to reduce the amount of embedded foreign material. From a histopathological point of view, coagulation necrosis was observed on both blood vessels and ductus deferens. The suture of the abdominal wall was made in a continuous pattern. Skin staples were used to save time
