Areas cultivated with eggplants occupy a very large surface in greenhouses and greenhouses, after tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. The rootstocks assure to the eggplants high productivity, high quality of fruits and resistance/ tolerance to diseases and pests. The biological material was represented by eggplant cultivars Luiza and Aragon F1 and rootstock Torvum vigor. The purpose of the experience was to study the rootstock's influence on the growth, fructification and resistance to pathogens and pests of grafted eggplants.Eggplant plants grafted on Torvum vigor had a 19.8%higher vigor than Luiza and 25.2% Aragon F1 non-grafted. The yield was higher in grafted plants with 18.5% to Luiza cultivar and 17.8% to Aragon F1 compared with non-graftedvariant. The Torvum vigor rootstock gives to graftedplants a high resistance to the attack of soil pathogens Verticillium dahliae and Fusarium oxysporumf.sp. melongena

Elimination of water excess from buildings perimeter

    No full text
For the purpose of ensuring the stability and normal exploitation of buildings, the land on which they are built and their foundation must comply with certain conditions. The growing demand for houses, office buildings, industrial halls, etc. especially in the big cities has also determined the expansion of buildings on less favourable lands, with excess humidity, landslides, etc. The high level of groundwater causes most problems, including significant damages to civil and industrial constructions, both during their execution as well as during their use and exploitation. This paper presents a method to eliminate the excess of water from groundwater and rainfall, in the case of buildings with lower ground floors. To remove the excess of water from the foundation, it is recommended to carry out a perimeter drainage at a level lower than the foundation base. In buildings with lower ground floors, filter columns spaced at 2.5-5.0 m facilitate the collection and evacuation of the excess of water. Moreover, in order to accelerate excess water removal, drainage can be doubled by placing a drainage tube at a depth of 1-1.5 m, distanced at 1.0-3.0 m from the face of the building, so as to take over the water from leaks from the surface of sidewalks, framings, parking lots, etc. Drainage lifetime can be increased by protecting the filter layer with geotextile material. By executing a drainage adequate to the constructions, an efficient elimination of excess water is ensured, the hydrostatic pressure exerted onto the walls is reduced, the formation of dampness and mould is avoided, allowing for a proper use of the spaces in basements and a longer lifetime of buildings

Barley is attacked during the vegetation period by many pathogenic agents. One of these pathogenic agents, Pyrenophora graminea fungus producing the barley’s leaf stripe (Velichi E. 2012) appeared in the Eastern Baragan area in 2018. An experiment took place in 2018, where 4 products of phytosanitary usage were used, as follows: ACANTO PLUS (picoxistrobin 200g/l + cyproconazole 80 g/l), MYSTIC 250 EC (tebuconazole 250 g/l) and FALCON 460 EC (triadimenole 43 g/l + tebuconazole 167 g/l + spiroxamine 250 g/l). This experiment consisted in 7 variants (6 variants with phytosanitary treatments in different combinations of products, plus one control variant not treated). The experiment was placed in Latin square. The 7 variants were placed in 7 repetitions. Among the pathogenic agents monitored, the greatest attacks were produced by Pyrenphora graminea fungus, which produces the tearing of barley’s leaves. The first two leaves below the spike were analyzed for this. The observations showed that the degree of attack (D.A %) of the disease (barley’s leaf stripe) was more reduced at all 6 variants of treatment than that of the control variant, V7. The harvests of the treated variants (V1 … V6) were higher than the harvest of the untreated control variant, V7. The harvests of treatment variants were significantly higher than the harvest of the untreated control variant (statistical assurance, LD 5%), except for V1, where the harvest increment has no statistical assurance. In what concerns the economic efficiency, like in the study performed in the year 2016, the fungicide product MYSTIC 250 EC 0.5 l/ha has proved to be the most efficient from price point of view

Fennel is a plant belonging to the Apiacea (Umbelliferae) family, and used by humans for a long time for medicinal purposes. In order to evaluate the influence of different materials on germination and seedling growth of three cultivars of fennel, an experiment was conducted in 2018. The cultivars of fennel were Isfahan, Yazd, and Shiraz in main plots, and three materials including 100% soil, 50% diatomite + 50% soil, and 100% diatomite in subplots, were analyzed in a split plot experiment based on a randomized complete block design (CRBD) with three replications. The highest total germination percentage, coefficient of velocity of germination, epicotile length, fresh epicotile weight and dry epicotile weight was related to Isfahan. The maximum speed of germination, mean germination time, fresh length and dry leaf weight was achieved in Shiraz cultivar. The higher values of total germination percentage, speed of germination and mean germination time were related to 100% soil, while application of 50% of soil + 50% of diatomite had obtained the maximum values of radicle length, epicotile length, fresh epicotile weight, dry leaf weight and dry epicotile weight. The maximum values of coefficient of velocity of germination and fresh leaf weight was achieved in application of 100% diatomite. It seems that application of 50% soil + 50% diatomite and Isfahan and Shiraz cultivars have a great potential of seed germination of seedling growth

The paper presents the results of the appreciation of varieties and lines from the collection of tomatoes of the Institute of Genetics, Plant Physiology and Plant Protection, Republic of Moldova based on productivity, resistance to stressing temperatures and some fruit characters. The analysis of the useful characters of the studied forms from the collection revealed a wide variability in the fruit characters, the overall productivity, the share of the fruits, which allows selection and recommendation of the most valuable forms for hybridization and obtaining new varieties and hybrids of different destination. Cluster analysis (k-means method) demonstrated that the 38°C temperature level manifested a higher discriminative capacity of tomato clusters based on root and strain length (controlled conditions), which revealed the more pronounced interaction specificity with this temperature level. Were identified clusters of tomato genotypes with diminished reaction at stressful temperatures, which is important for the involvement in programs to improve genotypes with increased resistance to heat

The aim of this study was to evaluate the physico-chemical, microbiological, sensory properties and antioxidant activity of the functional cream cheese prepared with lipophilic extracts of sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides L.). The first step of the research consisted of an evaluation of the physico-chemical characteristics and the antioxidant capacity of the sea buckthorn lipophilic extracts. The sea buckthorn extracts had a significant antioxidant capacity (67.04 ± 2.67%), a content of total carotenoids of 8.27 ± 0.01 mg L−1 and a content of total polyphenols of 1842.86 ± 1.41 mg/100 g dry vegetal material. The addition of the sea buckthorn extracts did not negatively affect the fresh cream cheese’s sensory characteristics. The addition of sea buckthorn extracts to the cream cheese resulted in an increase of antiradical activity and dry matter content, a decrease in acidity and higher growth inhibitition of germs

The benchmarking of agricultural production and labor in agriculture in the European plan

In this paper we propose a comparative analysis on European agricultural production and labor involved in this activity. Rural areas have a vital social role and a significant growth potential in society. There is a diminishing in reserves of manpower in rural areas throughout the EU, especially in emergent countries. The existing projections at this time, show a growing demand for agricultural products. For those who work in this field it is essential to be able to plan and predict medium and long-term activity. In this respect, we analyze the statistics of people working in some of the EU countries to have an overview of employment in the agricultural sector. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the evolution of the two factors that influence the agriculture and the macroeconomic stability. With the increase in the share of industry and services in the economy, agriculture begins to be increasingly less attractive and available a large number of jobs in this sector. In this respect, an important role returns to farmers in sustainable economic development, diversification of the rural economy by creating new jobs and protecting the environment. But farmers by themselves without a concrete and immediate help from the authorities cannot succeed in reducing this alarming phenomenon. In conclusion, agriculture is an important contribution to the EU GDP and has a fluctuating and uneven route across the European Union in terms of reporting the value of agricultural production to the number of farms, their size and manpower involved
