Serological study of exposure to leishmania in dogs living in shelters, in South-East Romania

    Get PDF
One of the most important canine vector-borne diseases in the Mediterranean region is canine leishmaniosis and there are frequent reports that it is spreading to the North and East of Europe. Romania is one of the countries traditionally considered non-endemic. However, L. infantum infections in dogs, humans and one jackal, as well as vector-competent sandflies have been recently reported in the country. To determine the seroprevalence of this infection we collected sera from 110 stray dogs, from two counties (Galați and Călărași), from the south-east of Romania and investigated for the presence of IgG antibodies against Leishmania by an in-house ELISA. Anti-Leishmania antibodies were detected in 5 stray dogs from the county of Galați. The prevalence in the county of Galați was 8.33% and the overall prevalence was 4.54%. These results are comparable to what was reported before in the southern county of Vâlcea and suggest that stray dogs from the south of Romania are exposed to L. infantum. There is a need for more studies in order to understand the situation of L. infantum infections in Romania

Local organic wastes - important source for soil fertility remediation

    No full text
Soil fertility and productivity restoration may be ensured partially from the local sources of organic matter as: byproducts of livestock sector (cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, horses and poultry manure), crop wastes (straw, organic crop residues, green fertilizers), alcoholic beverages production wastes (wine yeast, vinasse, distillers grains). The mentioned wastes are biologically and chemically very active, are in permanent transformation, have the strongest and diverse pollutant load. At the same time, they contain elements essential for plant life that help improve soil fertility and increase crop productivity

The execution of topographic measurements for the real estates from the cadastral sectors of the territorial administrative units is part of the integrated cadastral and land registration system. This unitary general cadastre system includes 3,181 territorial administrative units at national level, more precisely: 103 municipalities, 217 cities, 2,161 communes and 12,957 villages. The present stage of the systematic cadastre consists in implementing The National Programme for Cadastre and Land Registration 2015 – 2023. These works are performed by specialized professionals and financed by the National Agency for Cadastre and Real Estate Advertising. The legal frame for the general cadastral works in Romania is regulated by the Law on Cadastre and Real Estate Advertising no.7/1996, with all the subsequent modifications and completions. In the case of Iasi County, which covers a total surface of 5,477 km2 , there are officially identified 98 administrative territorial units, which include: 2 municipalities, 3 cities, 93 communes and 418 villages. The ongoing operations at the level of the cadastral sectors of Iasi County include 52 territorial administrative units and cover a surface of almost 63,000 ha. This sums almost 87,000 owners. The selected case study highlights the cartographic and legal aspects of the technical documentation drawn up for the cadastral sector no. 22 (strip of land no. 46). From Holboca commune, Iasi County. The delimited and measured surface for this cadastral sector was of 173.3235 ha, with 244 real estates identified and a road used for agricultural purposes. The limits of this cadastral sector and of the real estates included, respectively, were set on the field, based on the identification provided by their legal owners. After processing the specialized studies, it resulted the graphic and alphanumerical data base for one cadastral sector. This data base represents the base for the opening of land registers and the official records of real estates and owners

Clinical approach, diagnosis and therapeutic management in cystitis in dogs and cats

    No full text
Cystitis as a primary suffering is found in an overwhelming percentage among females, as a consequence of favorable factors such as bladder topography and bladder size. This condition has a high degree of variability in terms of prognosis and therapeutic success. The purpose of this paper is to present the etiological and evolutionary features of cystitis and also the response to treatment at patients in different stages of cystitis. The studied cases were investigated in two private clinics in Bucharest according to the following protocol: anamnesis, clinical examination, urine examination (cytological, uroculture, summary and urinary sediment) and ultrasonographic examination. The paraclinical examinations included the biochemical analysis of the blood, the hemoleucogram (CBC) and the urine examinations in order to assess the specific parameters of the urinary tract disorders. Ultrasound was used, as a fast, non-invasive method by which it can be identified changes in bladder topography, bladder integrity, inflammation, accumulation of uroliths at different stages, as well as possible neoplastic formations. The established treatments aimed at calming the symptoms in order to prevent an irreversible decompensation of the general status of the patient, as well as healing and preventing any recurrences. In both species, there was a predominance of the prevalence of cystitis secondary to the processes of urinary lithiasis among males, as well as an increased predisposition of bacterial complications in the bladder among females. Among the methods used for examination, ultrasound proved to be indispensable for a correct diagnosis. In both species, it was observed that there is a direct correlation between the sex of the patient and the type of cystitis installed. There was no direct correlation between the patient's hormonal status and the risk coefficient for the development of urinary calculi and the appearance of cystitis. Therapeutic management of cystitis comprises a wide range of drugs that address both the etiology and symptomatology of cystitis, which is why treatments have most often led to the healing of patients even if sometimes there were relapses

The impact of fiscal pressure in the viti-vinicultural sector and its role in the development of rural area in The Republic of Moldova

    No full text
The wine sector is one of the strategic branches of the national economy of the Republic of Moldova. In this respect, ensuring a dynamic and balanced development of it, increasing the competitiveness and economic efficiency of the wine products, increasing the export potential of the country - all these need to be regulated by an effective and easily applicable legislative and normative framework. The absence of a coherent strategy at national level in the field of winemaking, in order to penetrate the product and promote it on the EU market, leads to the need to examine the impact of taxes on the financial situation of entities in the wine sector, to study the processes of taxation of entities in correlation with various indicators that characterizes economic and financial activity. All decisions in the field of the entity's economic policy, the modification of the product range, the replacement of the retail market and the deployment of other important measures require the forecasting of possible fiscal aspects. The underestimation of the expected fiscal consequences can lead to unpredictable situations for businesses in the wine sector. However, it is important for the entity not only to know the size of future tax payments, in the event of any changes in the indicators of its economic activity, but also to take measures to obtain economic indicators of the activity that would ensure its optimal taxation

Current data regarding the evolution of hematological profile in Broiler chickens: a review

    No full text
In the last decades, along with the progress of poultry farming, avian medicine has seen remarkable progress. The use of improved breeds has raised the issue of their increased susceptibility to pathological factors and environmental conditions. Currently, the detection of diseases in birds, especially in poultry, is based on serological and necropsy investigations; complementary laboratory investigations, such as hematological and biochemical, are only used in companion birds. The assessment of the health of poultry through hematological and biochemical tests, especially those from intensive breeding farms, allows the early detection of signs of disease before it causes mortality and implicitly economic loss. Chickens were used as an animal model of research to establish physiological parameters for other avian species. However, little information has been published on the evolution of their hematological and biochemical parameters. Furthermore, the establishment of reference intervals for interpretation of results in birds in general and chickens in particular has proved extremely difficult due to their hematological and biochemical features. Hematology in birds partly mirrors health status can vary due to race, age, gender, stress, bacterial and viral infections. Considering the complexity of the animal organism and the complex interrelation established between its different systems, the administration of an exogenous substance will cause complex reactions
