Operating behavior of the irrigation system under OUAI AQUA NORTH SOLONEŢ BIVOLARI
The need to rehabilitate and modernize the old irrigation facilities is even greater, due to the fact that most irrigation
systems were built before 1989, respecting the functional parameters of that period. Even if some of them have operated
at minimum capacities or have been exploited only on certain sections, the physical and moral wear and tear do not
allow their exploitation in conditions of maximum efficiency. The opportunity to rehabilitate the old irrigation systems
comes with the launch of the National Program for the Rehabilitation of the Main Irrigation Infrastructure in Romania,
by PNDR, in 2007. A series of Organizations of Water Users for Irrigation (OUAI) benefited from European funds,
submitting financing projects, this being also the case of OUAI AQUA NORTH SOLONEŢ BIVOLARI, from Iasy
County. The necessary funds were obtained for the rehabilitation of the Pumping and Pressurization Station SPP 1.b. by
Measure 125 a1. Since the commissioning, in 2014, and until now, no malfunctions of the water network and
distribution have been registered, nor on the other components of the station. Rehabilitation works were designed,
executed and maintained rationally, so that no malfunctions occurred. After the rehabilitation of the irrigation system,
production increases were obtained for the corn crop of 6.67% -38.48%, depending on the climatic conditions of the
analyzed years
Epidemiological risk of toxocarosis in humans and animals in Iași County
The increasing number of dogs is a determining factor in the occurrence of toxocarosis in humans, as they are the source
of environmental contamination with Toxocara sp. eggs. During a single year, 2018-2019, the number of stray dogs
increased from 0.068 to 0.0709 per capita. Contamination of dogs with Toxocara canis in the conditions of our country
has increased in recent years from 21.4% to 50.2% and is identified as the most common parasitosis in these animals. For
the study of Tococara spp. infection in dogs, the period 2017-2020 was considered, representing cases present at the
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Iasi. Thus, more than 75% of infections are recorded in young dogs under one year old,
while 89% of them are males. The study on the prevalence of Toxocara canis cases at the Animal shelters in Tomești
showed a prevalence of Toxocara sp. of 60% of the total samples analysed; the study on toxocarosis in humans was carried
out during 2020, the information being provided by the Praxis medical tests laboratory. Result on the presence of specific
IgG antibodies to Toxocara canis/cati. It included a group of 95 cases during one year, of which 3, namely 3.25% were
under 3 years old and 14.8% were over 35 years old. Of the total samples, only 2 were positive in the male gender, which
represents 2.1% of the total samples. Fifteen cases were positive in females, representing 15.8% of all samples analysed.
Considering that we are talking about a parasite specific to dogs, the presence of such a large number of cases during a
single year reveals a very high load of Toxocara eggs in the environment, which raises an alarm about the distribution of
this parasite in nature and the high risk of human contamination
Determining the prevalence and risk of acquiring ESBL-producing enterobacteriacee in companion animals and in-contact humans in Romania
The impact of English language learning on the acquisition of soft skills such as critical thinking and emotional literacy skills
The present day desideratum for the educational systems is to develop life-long learning skills and to support learners in
the acquisition of soft skills as well. There are various fields concerned with the development of these skills and a closer
look at the overlapping areas may be beneficial. Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences highlights the characteristics
of the interpersonally and intra-personally minded people. The proponents of the theory of emotional intelligence
incorporate these two types of intelligences as core domains in which emotional literacy skills are rooted. Finally, the
theory of speech acts includes these skills as accompaniment in the verbal interactions of human beings. As part of the
present study, three textbooks from the series CAREER PATHS: Agriculture, Hotels & Catering and Tourism issued by
Express Publishing UK have been analyzed with respect to their potential of developing students’ critical thinking and
emotional literacy skills by means of the speaking activities they suggest. The conclusion that can be drawn is that the
dialogues have the potential of enhancing students’ interpersonal abilities while encouraging polite communication –
especially through the use of modal verbs (can, could, may) – and critical thinking by the extensive use of questions.
However, in terms of emotional vocabulary, there is a scarcity of emotional words being employed, with a frequent
occurrence of concepts such as: happy, angry, sorry, worried, which may seem a bit restrictive. Consequently, the
mission of the English courses and educators is to extend the area of the communicative situations that rely on the
diversification of this specific vocabulary, which may contribute to a broader understanding of people’s interactions in
the long run and to a genuine embracing of a relevant linguistic material
Considerations regarding the role of immune status in the preventions of infectious diseases in calves

During the growing season there were made observations and determinations concerning shoots annual growth rate, the growth rhythm of leaves and the number of flowers on the stems
Manifestations of antropo natural aridization in the agrogenic layer of arable cernozems: factors, mechanisms
In the present research, anthropo-natural aridization is examined as a complex process manifested in reducing the
available water reserves below the potential level within the respective climatic conditions of the region, reducing the
biological productivity of ecological soil-plant systems, quantitative and qualitative changes at all hierarchical levels of
structural-functional organization of the soil ecosystem materialized in changing the meaning and intensity of
chernoziomic typogenetic processes, the involvement of anthropo-natural processes uncharacteristic of chernozemic
pedogenesis and increasing the degree of inhomogeneity of the soil cover. In this context, anthropo-natural aridization
is a process inherent in the use of chernozems in agriculture caused by the evolution of the pedogenetic environment
under the unidirectional intercalated action of natural soil degradation processes (water and wind erosion, decay) and
physical, physico-chemical and chemical degradation (disintegration-destructuring, compaction, degradation of the
porous space, salinization, solonetization, etc.) in conditions of reducing the role of the biological factor and the process
of humus formation and accumulation within the anthropogenic chernozemic process. The current trend of climatic
conditions in the Pridanubian space, especially reducing the amount of atmospheric precipitation and changing their
regime, increasing the frequency and intensity of droughts, increasing the average multiannual and warm temperatures
are factors that intensify the effects of anthropo-natural aridization of arable chernozems
The effect of different sowing times on fresh ear yield and yield components in sweet corn (Zea mays L. Saccharata Sturt.) varieties
This study was carried out to
investigate the effects of different sowing
times on duration of tasselling, plant
height, first ear height, ear length, ear
diameter, number of ears per plant, fresh
ear yield with husk, fresh ear yield
unhusked, and marketable number of ears
of different sweet corn (Zea mays L.
saccharata Sturt.) varieties in Diyarbakır
between the years of 2010-2012. The trial
was conducted as split plots in randomised
complete blocks with three replications.
The main plots were sowing times, and the
sub-plots were varieties. The trials were
carried out at eight different sowing times
(1 April, 15 April, 1 May, 15 May, 1 June,
15 June, 1 July and 15 July) with ‘Merit’,
‘Jubilee’, ‘Lumina’, ‘Vega’ and ‘Sakarya’
composite sweet corn varieties. From the
variance analysis of the three-year
combined average, the duration of
tasselling, plant height, first ear height, ear
length, ear diameter, number of ears per
plant, fresh husked ear yield, fresh
unhusked ear yield and marketable ear
number were statistically significant for
sowing times and varieties. According to
the sowing time × variety interaction,
except ears per plant and first ear height
values, all other traits were significant.
The fresh husked and unhusked ear yields
varied between 8541.7-19396.8 kg ha-1
and 5065.0-13485.7 kg ha-1, respectively.
The highest fresh husked and fresh
unhusked ear yields were obtained from
the 15 April sowing time of ‘Vega’
variety. The results state that optimal
sowing dates for different varieties of
sweet corn could be from 1 April to 1 May,
and the most suitable variety to be planted
is ‘Vega’ in Diyarbakır conditions
In vitro selection of true potato seed genotypes tolerant to drought stress
The biological material used in this study was produced from true potato seed (TPS). Nine genotypes (MIL19-01-08,
MIL19-01-22, MIL19-01-37, ZIL19-02-01 , ZIL19-02-11, ZIL19-02-43, GIL19-03-07, GIL19-03-29 and GIL19-03-38)
were tested in vitro for drought tolerance. Four treatments were used to induce in vitro water stress: MS medium with
three different concentrations of PEG (1%, 1.5%, 2%) and one variant of MS medium without PEG as control. On
culture medium variant with highest concentration of PEG (2%) GIL19-03-29 obtained best results for plantlet height
(11.08 cm), leaf number (9.50), root number (5.33), fresh plant weight (0.167 g). In stress conditions GIL19-03-07
recorded best results for plant fresh weight (0.173 g), root length (7.17 cm), plantlet height (12.28 cm) on PEG 1%.
Also, ZIL19-02-43 obtained higher values on the culture medium variants with the highest level of water stress for
parameters such as root fresh weight (0.146 g), plant fresh weight (0.163 g), root length (7.08 cm) on PEG 1.5%. The
potato genotypes GIL19-03-29, GIL19-03-07 and ZIL19-02-43 showed the best tolerance to the water deficit and were
selected for further assessments both in protected area (greenhouse) and open-field conditions
Aspecte privind păstrarea şi valorificarea florilor tăiate de crocosmia
Lately, crocosmia is gaining more and more interest on the cut flowers market in Romania. The ornamental value of the cut flowers is given by their longevity and the number of flowers on the stem, as well as by the general appearance of inflorescences. In this research, determinations were made on the influence of storage solutions on the longevity of Crocosmia cut flowers, using six experimental variants: V1-distilled water (control); V2-commercial floral preservative-Vital Fleur (5 g/L); V3-gibberellic acid (150 mg/L); V4-boric acid (150 mg/L); V5-silver nitrate (1000 ppm); V6-potassium benzoate (0.03%). Observations and determinations showed, that boric acid (V4) had the best results in terms of the number of open flowers per stem. AgNO3 (V5), Vital Fleur (V2) and GA3 (V3) positively influenced the number of open flowers on the stem. Instead, potassium benzoate (V6) had negative influenced both the number of flowers open on the stem and their longevity
