Casamento infantil: as diferentes realidades entre Portugal e Brasil

    No full text
This research has as its theme the profile and main causes of child marriage in Portugal and Brazil, seeking to understand why the latter, even being a secular country, has high rates of child and adolescent marriages. In other words, through a historical-structural reconstruction of the different realities, it is intended to investigate what justifies the discrepancy between the rates of child marriage in these two regions, having as a hypothesis that it is in our slave-owning past and in the lack of applicability of the national and international regulatory frameworks, as well as the absence of effective public policies, the fact that Brazil is now the fourth country with the most child marriages in the world. Making a comparison in this sense will help us to make future and efficient proposals for the Brazilian case

DualRep: Knowledge Graph Completion by Utilizing Dual Representation of Relational Paths and Tail Node Density Insights

    Get PDF
Knowledge graphs (KGs) possess a vital role in enhancing the semantic comprehension of extensive datasets across many fields. It facilitate activities like recommendation systems, semantic searching, and intelligent data mining. However, lacking information can sometimes limit the usefulness of knowledge graphs (KGs), as the lack of relationships between entities could severely limit their practical application. Most existing approaches for KG completion primarily concentrate on embedding-based methods or just use relational paths, neglecting the valuable structural information offered by node density. This research presents an approach that effectively combines relational paths and the density features of tail nodes to enhance the accuracy of predicting relationships that are missing in knowledge graphs. Our method combines the sequential relational context represented by paths with the structural prominence indicated by node density, allowing for a dual view on possible entity connections. We validate the effectiveness of our technique by conducting comprehensive tests on many benchmark datasets, revealing substantial enhancements compared to conventional approaches. The Dual-Rep model, which incorporates relational paths and node density features, has continuously shown improved performance across several metrics, such as Mean Reciprocal Rank (MRR), Hit at 1 (Hit@1), and Hit at 3 (Hit@3). The DualRep model achieved a mean reciprocal rank (MRR) of 90.80. Additionally, it achieved a hit rate of 87.39 at rank 1 (Hit@1) and a hit rate of 91.18

Music and states of consciousness: A narrative review of the broader significance of music to understanding absorption, mind wandering and creative thought

    Get PDF
Due to music's extraordinary capacity to temporarily alter mental and physical states, the domain of musical experience offers a natural and accessible field of investigation for the study of states of consciousness. However, despite the continued emergence of music-related investigations into conscious experience, their research paradigms remain on the fringes of consciousness research, with the broader significance of their contributions often overlooked. In this narrative review, we aimed to address this gap by offering a twofold contribution. Firstly, we have highlighted and critically assessed key contributions of empirical research in music psychology and music neuroscience to our understanding of non-ordinary states of consciousness, such as absorption, mind wandering and creative thought, emphasizing the broader significance of exploring consciousness through music. Secondly, we have identified the unique aspects of music that offer special insight into consciousness and discussed how these aspects can shape future investigations. Overall, our review underscores the importance of integrating music into consciousness research and highlights avenues for future exploration in this interdisciplinary field

Ethical and Political Constellations: Fichte, Schlegel and Hegel on Kantian Peace

    Get PDF
Aguarda versão final. The reception of the Kantian essay on Perpetual Peace by Fichte, Schlegel and Hegel gives rise to a contrastive constellation of ethical, juridical and political ideas revolving around the idea of freedom, and the relationship between rights and duties within a constitutional State. In his review of the Kantian essay, Fichte (1796, Werke I, 3: 221-228; SW 08: 427-436) emphasizes the rational foundation of Kant’s Hauptidee, thus endorsing also the metaphysical status of the historical process through which Republican Constitutions are generated; for the progressive fulfillment of peace would testify both to the rational essence of Right and to the unfolding of the inexorable ends of Nature. The imperative of peace reveals the “supreme question of right” which concerns the purely rational condition of possibility of a community of free beings, i.e., the very possibility of humanity-as-community, encompassing necessarily the law of coexistence or compatibility of all possible free beings that relies on the reciprocal capacity of free self-limitation of freedom. Such capacity belongs to the people alone, and therefore it entails also the capacity to judge, without rebellion, how rightfully freedom is realized; hence, the proposition of creating a new institution, the Ephorat. In a nutshell, according to Fichte, peace and right are one and the same process of self-ordering freedom. Unsurprisingly enough, F. Schlegel accepts the equation that conjoins freedom and republicanism, and draws the logical conclusion that the true definitive article of perpetual peace would be the practically necessary political imperative of “universal and perfect republicanism” (1796, Versuch über den Begriff des Republikanismus, in Ausgabe 07: 11-25). Grounded in “primordial freedom,” source of individuality and independence, the Hegelian idea of State cannot surrender any degree of internal and external sovereignty. Consequently, the actualization of the individuality of the State implies negation, and thereby requires the continuous creation of the enemy and the continuous readiness to wage war against the enemy. Only the dialectical power of war does avoid vegetative and feminine stagnation, and by the same token it guarantees the protection and development of the State’s individuality. Peace must always be overcome by the “ethical moment” of war in which patriotic courage signifies a “universal duty” and a “formal virtue” consisting of self-sacrifice and self-abandonment or self-alignment with the universal (Grundlinien der PR, §§. 259, 324-327)

From the inside out: employee-based brand equity and b2b branding dynamics. An exploratory and multilevel analysis

    No full text
In an era where global competition is intensifying, fueled by rapid globalization, technological advances, and fluctuating economic conditions, brand equity has emerged as a critical aspect of organizational competitiveness and sustainability. The strategic significance of brand equity, recognized as the inherent value a brand adds to an organization, underscores its role as an important asset in navigating the complexities of the global marketplace. This doctoral thesis investigates the pivotal role of Employee-Based Brand Equity (EBBE) in enhancing brand equity within the B2B sector, framed through an exploratory and multilevel analysis. The complexity of B2B transactions, characterized by high levels of interaction, places employees at the forefront of brand representation and advocacy. This thesis aims to address the literature gap by focusing on EBBE's impact on brand equity in B2B contexts, where direct employee-customer interactions are critical. To accomplish its objectives, the thesis employs a mixed-methods approach, incorporating three main studies that collectively address the nuanced relationships between brand-specific transformational leadership, employer branding, EBBE, B2B brand image, brand loyalty and B2B overall brand equity. The first study systematically reviews the literature to construct an integrative framework of EBBE. The second and third studies empirically test the relationships between brand-specific transformational leadership, employer branding, and EBBE, and explore the multi-level effects of EBBE on B2B brand equity, respectively. The findings from these investigations underscore the strategic importance of cultivating a strong EBBE to enhance B2B branding efforts. Specifically, they reveal that effective employer branding practices, coupled with leadership that aligns with brand values, significantly boost EBBE, which in turn positively influences brand image, loyalty, and overall brand equity in the B2B context. Moreover, this thesis provides theoretical contributions by advancing our understanding of EBBE's mechanisms within B2B firms and offers practical implications for managers aiming to leverage EBBE for enhanced brand performance and competitiveness. Through its comprehensive analysis and integrative framework, the thesis highlights the pivotal role of employees as brand ambassadors and the strategic necessity of aligning internal and external brand-building efforts for achieving sustainable competitive advantage in the B2B landscape.
