Nómadas digitais. Perfil e fatores de escolha dos destinos turísticos
Get PDFA presente dissertação pretende analisar o perfil e as motivações dos nómadas digitais e compreender melhor quais os principais fatores que influenciam a decisão de escolha dos destinos turísticos. Neste contexto, pretende-se ainda explorar com mais atenção a valorização dos espaços de alojamento (coliving) e de trabalho (coworking) frequentemente associados a este segmento turístico. A metodologia utilizada baseia-se na abordagem qualitativa, suportada pela revisão da literatura e pela aplicação de entrevistas a nómadas digitais. Os resultados destacam a relevância da conectividade e adaptações locais para atrair esse público. A pesquisa fornece diferentes perceções sobre os desafios e oportunidades que os nómadas digitais enfrentam, incluindo questões relacionadas a vistos, infraestrutura e a necessidade de espaços de trabalho adequados. Os dados recolhidos revelam que, apesar da flexibilidade e liberdade associadas ao nomadismo digital, muitos indivíduos ainda enfrentam barreiras que dificultam a experiência de alguma forma, como a solidão e a dificuldade de criar relações duradouras. Este trabalho de investigação contribui, deste modo, para um conhecimento mais aprofundado deste segmento turístico, associado aos nómadas digitais, e possibilita a identificação de propostas estratégias para os destinos turísticos se adequarem melhor às características deste segmento turístico.This dissertation aims to analyse the profile and motivations of digital nomads and better understand the main factors influencing the decision to choose tourist destinations. In this context, we also intend to explore more closely the value of accommodation (coliving) and work (coworking) spaces frequently associated with this tourism segment. The methodology used is based on a qualitative approach, supported by a literature review and the application of interviews with digital nomads. The results highlight the relevance of connectivity and local adaptations to attract this audience. The research provides different insights into digital nomads' challenges and opportunities, including visa issues, infrastructure, and the need for suitable workspaces. The data collected reveals that, despite the flexibility and freedom associated with digital nomadism, many individuals still face barriers that inhibit the experience, such as loneliness and difficulty creating lasting relationships. This research work thus contributes to a more in-depth knowledge of this tourist segment associated with digital nomads. It enables the identification of strategic proposals for tourist destinations to better adapt to the characteristics of this tourist segment
Does time matter? The role of time perspective and ageism in mental health along the lifespan
Get PDFTime perspective is a consistent personal viewpoint which evolves with age and may influence mental health across the lifespan. This study aims to: (1) compare time perspective, perceived ageism and mental health indicators, in three age cohorts across the lifespan; (2) examine the influence of time perspective on mental health indicators (depression, anxiety, and stress); and (3) assess whether ageism serves as a moderating factor between time perspective and mental health indicators. 1311 participants from three distinct age groups (18–39, 40–59, and 60+) participated in this cross-sectional study. The following instruments were used: (a) Future Time Perspective Scale (FTPS); (b) Perceived Ageism Questionnaire (PAQ); (c) Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scales (DASS-21); and (d) a sociodemographic, health and lifestyle questionnaire. MANOVAs and moderated regression analyses were performed on the data. Results indicated the highest levels of stress, anxiety and perceived ageism among younger and older participants. A decrease in FTP-Opportunity and an increase of FTP-Limitation, and the perception of increased positive ageism were found throughout the life cycle. FTP-Opportunity was found to negatively impact stress, anxiety, and depression, whereas FTP-Limitation showed a positive effect. Positive ageism also moderated the effects of FTP-Opportunity on anxiety and depression. This study unveils the intricate relationship between time perspective, mental health, and ageism, indicating that time perspective significantly influences mental health outcomes such as depression, anxiety, and stress. Addressing ageism emerges as a crucial component in enhancing mental health in individuals of all ages

No full textThis study proposes a conceptual model for a virtual environment that mediates lesson planning activities in high school education. In today’s online society, we frequently encounter innovative digital products and services that leverage advances in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The main objective is to explore teachers’ needs and the possibilities offered by current technologies to enhance pedagogical practices. Using a projective approach based on activity theory, we identified the main challenges faced by teachers in the initial stages of lesson preparation, including short, medium, and long-term planning. Based on the identified requirements, a virtual environment was developed that represents the minimum structure necessary to mediate this activity. The results indicate that the virtual environment can promote greater participation and collaboration among teachers, facilitating the shared construction of knowledge. We conclude that the proposed virtual environment has great potential to mediate lesson planning, improving the quality of pedagogical practices and didactic activities

AI Integration in Organisational Workflows: A Case Study on Job Reconfiguration, Efficiency, and Workforce Adaptation
No full textThis study investigates how the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) transforms job practices within a leading European infrastructure company. Grounded in the Feeling Economy framework, the research explores the shift in task composition following AI implementation, focusing on the emergence of new roles, required competencies, and the ongoing reconfiguration of work. Using a qualitative, single-case study methodology, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with ten employees and company documentation. Thematic analysis revealed five key dimensions: the reconfiguration of job tasks, the improvement of efficiency and quality, psychological and adaptation challenges, the need for AI-related competencies, and concerns about dehumanisation. Findings show that AI systems increasingly assume repetitive and analytical tasks, enabling workers to focus on strategic, empathetic, and creative responsibilities. However, psychological resistance, fears of job displacement, and a perceived erosion of human interaction present implementation barriers. The study provides theoretical contributions by empirically extending the Feeling Economy and task modularisation frameworks. It also offers managerial insights into workforce adaptation, training needs, and the importance of ethical and emotionally intelligent AI integration. Additionally, this study highlights that the Feeling Economy must address AI’s epistemic risks, emphasising fairness, transparency, and participatory governance as essential for trustworthy, emotionally intelligent, and sustainable AI systems
