Esboço da crítica da economia política do futebol: uma resenha
Get PDFThis text is a review of the work “Esboço da Crítica da Economia Política do Futebol”, a doctoral thesis presented to the Postgraduate Program in Physical Education at the University of Brasília in the year 2022, whose authored by Nadson Santana Reis. The general objective of this work was to understand (and explain) the “social being” of football-spectacle – as a socio-historical phenomenon and cultural process – in late-bourgeois society, as well as the configuration and behavior of its corresponding political economy in general terms. With regard to its technical and operational nature, three procedures were undertaken: literature review, documentary research and theoretical analysis/discussion. The work on screen offers us a rich categorical arsenal to theoretically apprehend football-spectacle in the context of late-bourgeois society, which is summarized in ten theses that cover the process of genesis, constitution and development of this social phenomenon.Esbozo de la Crítica de la Economía Política del Fútbol”, una tesis doctoral presentada al Programa de Posgrado en Educación Física de la Universidad de Brasilia en el año 2022, cuyo autor es Nadson Santana Reis. Dicho trabajo tuvo como objetivo general comprender (y explicar) el “ser social” del fútbol-espectáculo –como fenómeno sociohistórico y proceso cultural– en la sociedad tardo-burguesa, así como la configuración y el comportamiento de su correspondiente economía política en términos generales. En cuanto a su naturaleza técnica y operativa, se llevaron a cabo tres procedimientos: la revisión de literatura, la investigación documental y el análisis/discusión teórica. La obra en cuestión nos ofrece un rico arsenal categorial para comprender teóricamente el fútbol-espectáculo en el contexto de la sociedad tardo-burguesa, el cual está sintetizado en diez tesis que abarcan el proceso de génesis, constitución y desarrollo de este fenómeno social.Este texto trata-se de uma resenha da obra “Esboço da Crítica da Economia Política do Futebol”, uma tese de doutorado apresentada ao Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação Física da Universidade de Brasília no ano de 2022, cuja autoria é de Nadson Santana Reis. O referido trabalho teve como objetivo geral apreender (e explicar) o “ser social” do futebol-espetáculo – como fenômeno sócio-histórico e processo cultural – da(na) sociedade tardo-burguesa, assim como a configuração e o comportamento de sua correspondente economia política em termos gerais. Natureza e Trabalho no tempo das demarcações de limites da Amazônia colonial
No full textIn the second half of the 18th century, administrators, scientists and missionaries selected by the Portuguese Crown landed in the Amazon Valley to carry out the work of the Boundaries Demarcation Commission, which defined the borders between the possessions of the Iberian kingdoms in America. During these expeditions, the demarcators produced various travel reports that described the natural world, enabling the formation of scientific knowledge about the region. Therefore, from the perspective of Environmental History and the Social History of Work, this article analyzes the connections between nature and work at the time of the boundaries demarcations in colonial Amazonia, highlighting the role of indigenous knowledge and interactions with the natural world for the consolidation of the Portuguese colonization project.Na segunda metade do século XVIII, administradores, homens de ciência e missionários selecionados pela Coroa portuguesa desembarcaram no Vale Amazônico com o objetivo de realizar os trabalhos da Comissão Demarcadora de Limites, que definiu as fronteiras entre as possessões dos reinos ibéricos na América. Durante essas expedições, os demarcadores produziram diversos relatos de viagem que descreveram o mundo natural, possibilitando a formação do conhecimento científico sobre a região. Portanto, este artigo analisa, sob a perspectiva da História Ambiental e da História Social do Trabalho, as conexões entre natureza e trabalho no tempo das demarcações de limites na Amazônia colonial, destacando o papel dos saberes indígenas e das interações com o mundo natural para a consolidação do projeto colonizador português

Traducir con el cuerpo: la traducción como experiencia tangible y corporal
Get PDFTranslating is never an activity that is oblivious to what is going on around it. Hence, as is well known, translation theories have changed so much from the middle of the last century to the present day. It goes without saying that the social, economic, political and ethical challenges of the 21st century are unparalleled. In the face of this, translation could not remain on the sidelines. And it has not. There are already many theories that insist on overcoming the “linguistic bias in Translation Studies” (Marais, 2019). What this means is that translation between languages does not seem at all sufficient today, when information is transmitted through many semiotic systems. Meaning is created through varied channels, among them the materiality of objects. That is why in the first part of this lecture I will focus on the so-called “tangible translation” (Ciribuco & O'Connor, 2022), which I will exemplify through tangible translations that have been made in the art world, not with words but with other semiotic systems. These tangible translations will lead us in the second part of the article to understand translation as an experience with our whole body (Campbell & Vidal, 2024, 2025), not only with the intellect. Following the so-called “anthropology of the senses” (Howes, 2005), my proposal is that in the 21st century we translate in a tangible way with the body, because we transmit information with the senses, with emotions, with gestures, with touch, with taste, with smell. Translation is thus extended to become a somatic and parasomatic process (Robinson, 1991, 2023). The third section of the article proposes to apply this tangible translation that is created with the body to the work of an indigenous artist, Cecilia Vicuña, who translates with all the senses, without words, by means of quipus.Traducir nunca es una actividad ajena a lo que ocurre a su alrededor. De ahí que, como es bien conocido, las teorías de la traducción hayan cambiado tanto desde mediados del siglo pasado hasta nuestros días. Ni que decir tiene que los retos sociales, económicos, políticos y éticos que nos propone el siglo XXI no tienen paragón. Ante esto, la traducción no podía quedarse al margen. Y no lo ha hecho. Son ya muchas las teorías que insisten en superar el “linguistic bias in Translation Studies” (Marais, 2019). Lo que esto significa es que la traducción entre lenguas no parece en absoluto suficiente hoy, cuando la información se transmite mediante muchos sistemas semióticos. El significado se crea a través de variados canales, entre ellos la materialidad de los objetos. Por eso en la primera parte de este artículo me fijaré en llamada “tangible translation” (Ciribuco & O’Connor, 2022), que ejemplificaré a través de traducciones tangibles que se han hecho en el mundo del arte, no con palabras sino con otros sistemas semióticos. Esas traducciones tangibles nos llevarán en la segunda parte del artículo a entender la traducción como una experiencia con todo nuestro cuerpo (Campbell & Vidal, 2024, 2025), no únicamente con el intelecto. Siguiendo la llamada “antropología de los sentidos” (Howes, 2005), mi propuesta es que en el siglo XXI se traduce de una forma tangible con el cuerpo, porque transmitimos información con los sentidos, con las emociones, con los gestos, con el tacto, con el gusto, con el olfato. La traducción se amplía así hasta convertirse en un proceso somático y parasomático (Robinson, 1991, 2023). La tercera parte del artículo propone aplicar esta traducción tangible que se crea con el cuerpo a la obra de una artista indígena, Cecilia Vicuña, que traduce con todos los sentidos, sin palabras, mediante quipus
Relações entre a Educação em Astronomia da BNCCEM e a Educação Libertadora: bancarismo ou libertação?
Get PDFThe historical path of the development of the NCCB and its justifications leave implicit a problem of an ideological-practical nature, so that many criticisms were made against the document during and after its formulation. Here, there is a need to find the relationships between the Astronomy curriculum at the national level and Liberating Education, in order to highlight an education that meets or does not meet the emancipation of individuals. Thus, the objective of this research is to investigate the relationships between the Astronomy Education curriculum for High School according to NCCBSE and Liberating Education. The research has a qualitative character, uses the documentary research approach and has a deductive nature. Most of the categories used in this research did not have a close relationship with the NCCB, and of the 12 categories, 3 showed high correspondence, 2 showed low correspondence, and the others were not found positive relationships. Based on the results found, it is inferred that the curriculum has connotations that are closer to a banking education than to a liberating education.O percurso histórico do desenvolvimento da BNCC e suas justificativas deixam implícito uma problemática de cunho ideológico-prático, de modo que muitas críticas foram tecidas contra o documento durante e após sua formulação. Aqui, vê-se a necessidade de encontrar as relações existentes entre o currículo de Astronomia em âmbito nacional e a Educação Libertadora, de forma a evidenciar uma educação que atenda ou não à emancipação dos indivíduos. Assim, o objetivo desta pesquisa é de investigar as relações existentes entre o currículo de Educação em Astronomia para o Ensino Médio conforme a BNCCEM e a Educação Libertadora. A pesquisa possui caráter qualitativo, utiliza a abordagem de pesquisa documental e apresenta natureza dedutiva. A maior parte das categorias utilizadas nesta pesquisa não tiveram uma relação de proximidade com a BNCC, sendo que das 12 categorias, 3 apresentaram alta correspondência, 2 apresentaram baixa correspondências, e as demais não foram encontradas relações positivas. Com base nos resultados encontrados, infere-se que o currículo apresenta conotações que se aproximam mais de uma educação bancária que de uma educação libertadora
Teletrabalho e avaliação em uma instituição pública de ensino superior no contexto do Programa de Gestão e Desempenho
Get PDFContext: In a society in constant transformation, where Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) shape work, this research explores the possibilities of teleworking in the context of the Management and Performance Program (in Portuguese: Programa de Gestão e Desempenho — PGD), with a focus on technical-administrative staff. Aspects such as customer service, communication, formalization of legal processes, and performance evaluation stand out as critical areas for managing remote teams. Objective: To analyze the perceptions of technical-administrative staff about teleworking in the context of the PGD and to understand the dynamics of performance evaluation in this context. Method: An applied, descriptive, and exploratory study was conducted, using a literature review, analysis of the legal framework and primary data collection from civil servants and managers at the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT). Results: The research identified teleworking performance evaluation tools and assessed their alignment with the organizational objectives of the program. The analyses led to recommendations for continuous improvement aimed at optimizing performance management in the academic context. Practical implications: The findings provide support for the modernization of public administration, with the potential for application in other government institutions, promoting more effective practices in teleworking.Contexto: Em uma sociedade em constante transformação, onde as Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação (TIC) moldam o trabalho, esta pesquisa explora as possibilidades do teletrabalho no contexto do Programa de Gestão e Desempenho (PGD), com foco nos servidores técnico-administrativos. Aspectos como atendimento ao público, comunicação, formalização de processos legais e avaliação de desempenho destacam-se como áreas críticas para a gestão de equipes remotas. Objetivo: Analisar a percepção dos servidores técnico-administrativos sobre o teletrabalho no âmbito do PGD e compreender as dinâmicas de avaliação de desempenho nesse contexto. Método: Realizou-se uma pesquisa aplicada, de caráter descritivo e exploratório, utilizando revisão de literatura, análise do marco legal e coleta de dados primários junto a servidores e gestores da Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso (UFMT). Resultados: A pesquisa identificou instrumentos de avaliação de desempenho no teletrabalho e avaliou seu alinhamento aos objetivos organizacionais do programa. As análises resultaram em recomendações para melhorias contínuas, visando otimizar a gestão de desempenho no contexto acadêmico. Implicações práticas: Os achados fornecem subsídios para a modernização da administração pública, com potencial de aplicação em outras instituições governamentais, promovendo práticas mais eficazes no teletrabalho
CONSULTORIA DE ENFERMAGEM EM SAÚDE MENTAL NA INSTRUMENTALIZAÇÃO DE EQUIPES DE ENFERMAGEM EM UM HOSPITAL GERAL
Get PDFThe present work aims to develop a model of nursing consultancy in mental health in inpatient units. This is a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory research carried out in a general hospital in Porto Alegre. Professional nurses who had been working at the institution for more than six months and who had requested mental health nursing consultancy and who consented to participate in the study were included in the research. Professionals with other training in the health area were excluded from the research. Ten nurses from nine inpatient units were interviewed, with an average of 2.3 years of experience at the institution. None of the participants had training in mental health, beyond that required in the nursing course. Braun and Clarke's Thematic Analysis was used to process the collected data. The product developed was a Mental Health Nursing Consultancy model based on permanent health education, through the problematization methodology, worked within the institution's own hospitalization units. The presence of skills gaps in mental health among professionals and the growing demand for this specialized care were observed. The consultancy took place on an educational, empowering and facilitating basis for the teaching process of nurses, through continuing health education. Therefore, the consultancy developed is a powerful mental health care model to help the nursing team provide adequate assistance to patients in psychological distress.O presente trabalho tem como objetivo elaborar um modelo de consultoria de enfermagem em saúde mental em unidades de internação. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa, descritiva e exploratória realizada em um hospital geral da cidade de Porto Alegre - RS. Foram incluídos na pesquisa os profissionais enfermeiros assistenciais que estavam há mais de seis meses trabalhando na instituição e que solicitaram consultoria de enfermagem em saúde mental, bem como consentiram em participar do estudo. Foram excluídos da pesquisa profissionais com outras formações na área da saúde. Foram entrevistados dez enfermeiros de nove unidades de internação, com média de 2,3 anos de atuação na instituição. Nenhum dos participantes possuía formação em saúde mental, além da exigida no curso de enfermagem. Utilizou-se a Análise Temática de Braun e Clarke para processamento dos dados coletados. O produto desenvolvido foi um Modelo de Consultoria de Enfermagem em Saúde Mental pautado na educação permanente em saúde, por meio da metodologia da problematização, trabalhada dentro das próprias unidades de internação da instituição. Foi observada a presença de lacunas de habilidades em saúde mental por parte dos profissionais e a demanda crescente desses cuidados especializados. A consultoria aconteceu em um eixo educador, empoderador e facilitador do processo de ensino dos enfermeiros, por meio da educação permanente em saúde. Logo, a consultoria desenvolvida é um potente modelo de cuidado em saúde mental para auxiliar a equipe de enfermagem a prestar uma assistência adequada ao paciente em sofrimento psíquico
Subtitling revisers as agents of change in audiovisual workflows
Get PDFThis study explores the pivotal role of subtitling revisers in audiovisual workflows, focusing on how their subjective decisions influence textual quality, cultural relevance, and collaborative dynamics among subtitlers, project managers, clients, and audiences. Grounded in data collected from an experiment involving nine Portuguese professional subtitling revisers, the research provides unique insights into their practices and attitudes. The findings reveal that subtitling revisers navigate complex decisions shaped by their professional expertise, emotional responses, and lived experiences. Their interventions often balance technical precision with creative interpretation, addressing linguistic, cultural, and technical challenges. While these decisions can lead to significant enhancements in subtitle quality and viewer experience, they also highlight the variability in practices and the potential for unintended consequences, such as overlooked errors or changes that disrupt collaborative dynamics. In an era of increasing automation, this research highlights the indispensable role of human intervention in producing subtitling that is both linguistically and culturally appropriate, as well as technically accurate. Subtitling revisers emerge as key agents of change, bridging linguistic and cultural divides while responding to the evolving demands of global audiovisual localisation. Their interventions – whether positive or negative – can significantly influence the quality of the final product, with far-reaching implications for audience reception and for workflows shaped by automation. These decisions not only shape the quality and accessibility of the translated audiovisual content, but also impact key stakeholders – particularly the subtitler, whose work is subject to alteration, and the audience, whose experience of the content depends on the effectiveness of those revision
Re-Claiming “A queen of women as of States”: Feminist Historiography as Dramaturgical Space in Lady Gregory’s Grania (1912), Kincora (1905/1909), and Dervorgrilla (1907)
Get PDFThis article[1] considers how Augusta, Lady Gregory, playwright and co-founder of Ireland’s Abbey Theatre, crafts a dramaturgy of feminist historiographic space across her folk-history trilogy, Grania, Kincora, and Dervorgilla. The article engages with scholars across Irish theatre history, spatial theory, and feminist theory to propose a new vision of a dramaturgy of feminist historiography in Gregory’s plays. Irish women artists and activists intentionally reclaimed and reimagined women from Irish folk history as a method of cultivating women’s space within the national and nationalist imaginations. In her reconceptualization of these histories for the stage, Gregory was envisioning an Irish national drama where women were center stage, and by extension, demonstrated the power of women’s presence within the greater cultural nationalist movement.

(Un)safe Space in the Borderlands: Writing Queer Women of Color into History
Get PDFThis article intends to analyze how Xicana literature navigates (un)safe spaces in the Borderlands. As women, who, more often than not, are also queer, the literature of Xicana authors constantly struggles to find safe spaces in the Borderlands. The historical novel Forgetting the Álamo (2009), by Emma Pérez, illustrates the mobilization of spaces into (un)safe ones. The novel, by remembering the presence of queer Xicanas in history (in the aftermath of the battle of the Alamo), constructs (un)safe spaces in a constantly changing geographical location. The pervasiveness of coloniality is always already endangering the safety of one’s existence. The instability of these “safe spaces” renders them, at the same time, unsafe. This paradoxical relationship opens the possibility of the fractured locus, where colonial and non-colonial discursive practices meet and are rearticulated
