Tecnologia digital e formação do leitor literário: a criação de uma fanfiction por meio do aplicativo Wattpad
Get PDFThis article qualitatively analyzes the use of a reading and writing application on a mobile device, especially smartphones, in the classroom context. Using the Wattpad application to create a fanfiction based on the work The Chronicles of Narnia, by C. S. Lewis, our analysis privileged technology in its pedagogical interactions, especially about contributions to the formation of the literary reader, as well as other aspects important aspects of this resource in education. We note that this reading and creative writing strategy offers alternatives for those involved to expand their imaginative capabilities, providing them with greater contact with the literary universe and, more intensely, with the world of creativity - such as the production of fanfic itself -, in addition to increase the chances of forming literary readers, as it brings participants closer to the habit of reading and writing. This debate, therefore, is the result of several social, educational, and technological factors and trends, ranging from the need for engagement and motivation to learning, with an emphasis on changes in behavior in the face of the need to act in an increasingly more technological and digital.Este artigo analisa, qualitativamente, o emprego de um aplicativo de leitura e escrita em dispositivo móvel, especialmente em smartphones, no contexto da sala de aula. Utilizando o aplicativo Wattpad para a elaboração de uma fanfiction baseada na obra As Crônicas de Nárnia, de C. S. Lewis, nossa análise privilegiou a tecnologia em suas interações pedagógicas, especialmente no que se refere às contribuições para a formação do leitor literário, bem como outros aspectos importantes desse recurso na educação. Notamos que essa estratégia de leitura e escrita criativa oferece alternativas para que os envolvidos ampliem suas capacidades imaginativas, propiciando-lhes maior contato com o universo literário e, mais intensamente, com o mundo da criatividade - a exemplo da própria produção de fanfic -, além de ampliar as chances de formar leitores literários, posto que aproxima os participantes do hábito da leitura e da escrita. Esse debate, portanto, é resultado de diversos fatores e tendências sociais, educacionais e tecnológicas, que vão desde a necessidade do engajamento e da motivação até a aprendizagem, com ênfase para as mudanças de comportamentos em face da necessidade de atuação em um mundo cada vez mais tecnológico e digital.
Mapeando a literatura de língua alemã traduzida no Brasil
Get PDFThis paper presents the quantitative results of a bibliographical research on the translation of German language literature in Brazil from 1900 to 2020. After a brief contextualization of the translations from German in Brazil, the configuration of the project is described and the main results concerning several parameters are presented: temporal evolution, the translated objects (authors, works, epochs) and the agents of translation (translators and publishers). At the end, an outline for further research on the material and ways to improve the data is presented.O presente artigo apresenta os resultados quantitativos de uma pesquisa bibliográfica sobre a tradução de literatura de língua alemã no Brasil de 1900 a 2020. Após uma breve contextualização das traduções do alemão no Brasil, descreve-se a configuração do projeto e apresentam-se os principais resultados referentes a vários parâmetros: evolução temporal, os objetos traduzidos (autores, obras, épocas) e os agentes da tradução (tradutores e editoras). No final sugerem-se pesquisas mais detidas sobre o material coletado e caminhos para o aperfeiçoamento dos dados
La mujer en la traducción audiovisual en España: un recorrido por el mundo académico y el profesional
Get PDFMore than 70% of ATRAE's (Asociación de Traducción y Adaptación Audiovisual de España) members are women. DAMA (Derechos de Autor de Medios Audiovisuales) seems to have similar figures (Mariani, 2021). Furthermore, according to Pérez Escudero’s (2021, p. 423-424) doctoral study within the BITRA database (Franco Aixelá, 2001-2024), Pilar Orero was the most prolific author in audiovisual translation research (AVT) in the world, and of the 20 authors with the most publications in this field, 12 were women. Despite these figures, which in themselves show a clear leading role for women in this specialized field of translation, the number of prizes awarded to their translations, or even the presence of women as plenary speakers at conferences in this field, does not always correspond to these figures. In fact, when it comes to citations, of those 20 most productive authors in AVT, there are only 8 women among the 20 most cited authors. In view of this situation, recent publications have emerged, such as those of Botella Tejera and Agulló García (2021, 2022a), which give voice to women, academics and professionals, who, based on the different modalities of AVT, depict the situation of women in academia and the professional world, and give us some clues about the future to come. This article gathers bibliometric and statistical data that try to help us understand the evolution of women researchers and professionals in AVT in Spain, as well as to discover which authors are the most influential and the most promising ones. In addition, various hypotheses will be studied, and answers will be sought about the situation and future prospects of women in AVT.Más de un 70 % de los socios de ATRAE (Asociación de Traducción y Adaptación Audiovisual de España) son mujeres. DAMA (Derechos de Autor de Medios Audiovisuales) parece moverse en cifras similares (Mariani, 2021). Además, según Pérez Escudero (2021, p. 423-424) a partir de su estudio doctoral en la base de datos BITRA (Franco Aixelá, 2001-2024), Pilar Orero era la autora más prolífica de la investigación en traducción audiovisual (TAV) en el mundo y, de los 20 autores con más publicaciones en este campo, 12 eran mujeres. A pesar de estos datos, que de por sí nos muestran un claro papel protagonista de la mujer en este ámbito especializado de la traducción, el número de premios otorgados a sus traducciones, o incluso la presencia de mujeres como ponentes plenarias en conferencias de este campo, no siempre se corresponde con estas cifras. De hecho, de esos 20 autores más productivos en TAV, a la hora de citar se observa justo todo lo contrario, ya que solo hay 8 mujeres entre los 20 autores más citados. Ante esta situación, han surgido publicaciones recientes, como las de Botella Tejera y Agulló García (2021, 2022a), que dan voz a mujeres, académicas y profesionales, que, a partir de las diferentes modalidades de la TAV, nos descubren cómo viene siendo la situación de la mujer en la academia y en el mundo profesional, y nos dejan ciertas pistas sobre el futuro que nos espera. Este artículo recoge datos bibliométricos y estadísticos que tratan de ayudarnos a entender la evolución de investigadoras y profesionales de la TAV en España, así como descubrir qué autoras son las más influyentes y las más prometedoras. Además, se plantean diversas hipótesis y se ofrecen respuestas sobre la situación y las perspectivas de futuro de la mujer en la TAV.xxx
Exploración de los procesos cognitivos en la postedición especializada de textos: un enfoque de métodos mixtos que integra protocolos de seguimiento ocular y verbalización
Get PDFThe current demand for specialized translation, technological advances, use of CAT tools, and delivery times have impacted both product and process, thereby fostering post-editing services. Post-editing refers to the adjustments of raw products by an automatic translator (Alves et al., 2016). Consequently, there has been an interest in studying product quality and various linguistic features including syntactic, morphosyntactic, and semantic aspects (Popovic et al., 2014; Koponen et al., 2012; Temnikova, 2010) without an examination of the cognitive processes involved in reading for post-editing. This paper aims to describe specialized text comprehension for post-editing purposes. Data was collected using an eye-tracker and a retrospective protocol from three translators. Acting as post-editors, participants were assigned to post-edit a 227-word text from the health area. Findings reveal that specialized text comprehension involves attention and working memory (Cowan, 1999, 2005, 2021) during the processing of Terminological Units (TUs). Additionally, factors such as the field of knowledge, expertise, experience, and level of education might also influence the post-editing process.La demanda actual de traducción especializada, los avances tecnológicos, el uso de herramientas y los plazos de entrega han influido en el producto y el proceso, fomentando los servicios de posedición. La posedición se refiere a los ajustes realizados a los productos arrojados por un traductor automático (Alves et al., 2016). Por consiguiente, ha surgido un interés por estudiar la calidad del producto y cuestiones lingüísticas como aspectos sintácticos, morfosintácticos y semánticos (Popovic et al., 2014; Koponen et al., 2012; Temnikova, 2010), sin investigar los procesos cognitivos implicados en la lectura para con fines de posedición. El objetivo de este artículo es describir la comprensión de un texto especializado con fines de posedición. La recolección de la información se realizó mediante seguimiento ocular y protocolo retrospectivo, a tres traductores. Los participantes poseditaron un texto de 227 palabras del ámbito de salud. Los resultados mostraron un involucramiento de la atención y la memoria de trabajo (Cowan, 1999, 2005, 2021) durante el procesamiento de Unidades Terminológicas (UTs). Además, factores como el campo de conocimiento, la experiencia y el nivel de escolaridad también podrían afectar el proceso de posedición
Un estudio de la traducción y presencia de las escritoras españolas en el contexto chino del siglo XXI
Get PDFSince the 1980s, literary exchanges between Spain and China have flourished, as evidenced by the hundreds of Spanish works translated into the Chinese language. However, a significant portion of these publications consists of works authored by men, while translations of women writers and related studies remain in the background. This study aims to highlight this situation through an analysis based on a bibliographic review. To document this circumstance more precisely, various bibliographic sources such as textbooks, translated books, thematic monographs, anthologies, and academic journals published in China focusing on works by Spanish women writers have been selected. The observed data reflect their underrepresentation in the 21st century Chinese context compared to male writers and canonical works.Desde la década de los 80, los intercambios literarios entre España y China han proliferado, como demuestran los centenares de obras españolas traducidas a la lengua china. Sin embargo, gran parte de estas publicaciones corresponden a obras escritas por hombres, mientras que las traducciones de escritoras y los estudios relacionados continúan en un segundo plano. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo destacar esta situación mediante un análisis fundamentado en una revisión bibliográfica. Para documentar esta circunstancia de manera más precisa, se han seleccionado diversas fuentes bibliográficas como manuales didácticos, libros traducidos, monografías temáticas, antologías y revistas académicas publicadas en China que se centran en la producción de escritoras españolas. O ensino empírico da língua portuguesa no fim do século XIX: a abordagem pragmática de Augusto Epifânio da Silva Dias
Get PDFConsidering, in the transition from the 19th to the 20th century, the propagation in Portugal of the positivist paradigm inspired by Comte (Catroga, 1977), the present work aims to examine how the empirical research perspective of the time plays a cardinal role in the evolution of philological studies (Santos, 2010), that aims to describe, according to a scientific method, the functioningpatterns of the national language. This attitude, in fact, encourages the proliferation of grammaticaltreatises that updated the previous times methodology, based on philosophical speculations (Gonçalves, 2012, p. 2571). Given this assumption, we will present, in this research, the textual analysis of the injunctive volume Grammatica Portugueza Elementar published 14 times from 1870 until 1921 by Augusto Epifânio da Silva Dias (1841-1916), a positivist didactic resource that presents to the public, both scholarly and popular (Gonçalves, 2021), the phonological, morphological and syntactic rules for better writing and speaking in the mother tongue, applying the modern empirical approach. Indeed, the author provides simple and practical rules, of immediate understanding, whose memorization is provided, on the one hand, by pragmatic examples and application models and, on the other hand, by iconic didactic mediators (Damiano, 1993), such as diagrams, tables and word lists, strategies chosen so that users can fix the illustrated precepts permanently in their cognitive structures. Since the objective of linguistic positivism is to examine the actual use of language (Nigro, 2009), we will study how Dias meets this objective by completing the explanations provided with practical and intuitive application exercises, which help learners to either i) understand the enunciative context of use, or ii) internalize the norms in an effective and meaningful way in the encyclopedic memory, although still prioritizing the traditional deductive method.Considerando, na transição do século XIX para o XX, a propagação em Portugal do paradigma positivista de inspiração comtiana (Catroga, 1977), o presente trabalho visa examinar como a ótica empírica de investigação da época desenvolve um papel cardeal na evolução dos estudos filológicos (Santos, 2010) que visam descrever, segundo um método científico, os padrões de funcionamento da língua nacional. Tal atitude encoraja, de facto, a proliferação de tratados gramaticais que atualizem a metodologia das épocas anteriores, baseada em “especulações filosóficas” (Gonçalves, 2012, p. 2571). Diante deste pressuposto, apresentaremos, nesta pesquisa, a análise textual do volume injuntivo Grammatica Portugueza Elementar editado 14 vezes de 1870 a 1921 pelo estudioso Augusto Epifânio da Silva Dias (1841-1916), recurso didático de cunho positivista que proporciona ao público, tanto escolar como popular (Gonçalves, 2021), as regras fonológicas, morfológicas e sintáticas para bem escrever e falar na língua materna, aplicando a moderna abordagem empírica. Com efeito, o autor fornece regras simples e práticas, de imediata compreensão, cuja memorização é facultada, por um lado, por exemplos pragmáticos e modelos de aplicação e, por outro, por mediadores didáticos icónicos (Damiano, 1993), tal como esquemas, tabelas e listas de palavras, estratégias elegidas para que os usuários possam fixar os preceitos ilustrados permanentemente nas estruturas cognitivas. Sendo o objetivo do positivismo linguístico examinar o emprego real da língua (Nigro, 2009), veremos como Dias atende a este objetivo completando as explicações fornecidas com práticos e intuitivos exercícios aplicativos, que auxiliam os aprendentes quer a i) compreenderem o contexto enunciativo de uso, quer a ii) interiorizarem as normas de forma eficaz e significativa na memória enciclopédica, embora priorizando ainda o método tradicional dedutivo
Uma língua em evolução: um património epistolar de particularidades morfológicas e ortográficas
Get PDFA specific and selected epistolary corpus—the correspondence between members of Fernando Pessoa’s family—is an interesting sample of the flexibility of the spelling of the Portuguese language in the last twenty years of the 19th century. Exponents of a moderately wealthy and cultured bourgeois family, the authors of these letters show a whole series of uncertainties and alternations in the graphic realisation of their thoughts, undoubtedly due to the fluidity of the Portuguese language at the time, as well as idiosyncratic uses and the possible influence of their region of origin, the Azores. These phenomena, not only orthographic but also affecting morphology, are presented here, divided into categories, and commented on, representing a portrait of the familiar use of Portugueseat the turn of the century.Um corpus epistolar específico e selecionado – a correspondência entre membros da família de Fernando Pessoa – é uma amostra interessante da flexibilidade da ortografia da língua portuguesa nos últimos vinte anos do século XIX. Expoentes de uma família burguesa moderadamente abastada e culta, os autores dessas cartas mostram toda uma série de incertezas e alternâncias na realização gráfica de seus pensamentos, sem dúvida devido à fluidez da língua portuguesa da época, bem como a usos idiossincráticos e à possível influência de sua região de origem, os Açores. Esses fenômenos, não apenas ortográficos, pois também afetam a morfologia, são aqui apresentados divididos em categorias e comentados, representando um retrato do uso familiar do português na viradado século

In this text, based on Genette (2009), we will first analyze the paratexts, and then, with the help, mainly of Berman (1995) and Pym (2012), we will discuss the translational position, the translation project and the horizon of the translator(s) of this collection, as well as aspects related to the ethics of translation.Este artigo tem por objetivo analisar a coletânea de contos de Machado de Assis lançada na China em 2020, que foi organizada por Xuefei Min. Em um primeiro momento, traçamos um breve panorama da presença de Machado de Assis na China. Na sequência, com base em Genette (2009), analisamos os paratextos da coletânea e ainda, com o auxílio de Berman (1995) e Pym (2012), discutimos a posição tradutiva, o projeto de tradução e o horizonte do(s) tradutor (es), bem como aspectos ligados à ética da tradução
