The description of Josep Maria Jujol’S work has aroused diverse opinions, however, there is a term used frequently by experts: collage. This writing proves the relevance on applying this concept to Jujol’s work, and especially to the Sansalvador villa. First, the use of the term collage to refer to Jujol is briefly exposed, as well as a historical-artistic contextualization. From this, follows that collage may be understood in three ways: as a graphic resource, as an intellectual strategy and as a process. Then the case study is analysed through these three meanings, which allows to discover the presence of decontextualized fragments of different origins, arranged in such a way that they generate apparently unitary images. Therefore, the Sansalvador villa presents the representation and intellectual method that correspond, point by point, to the definition of collage.

In 1964, a young Cedric Price joined forces with the successful theater director and producer Joan Littlewood to conceive a project with the ambitious goal of transforming the concept of leisure and education in post-World War II Britain, which was still recovering from the devastation of the war. The Fun Palace project, however, never materialized into a physical structure, leaving Price’s drawings as the sole record of its design. Employing cybernetic principles, the project was envisioned as a structural framework encompassing an interactive machine without a defined program, in perpetual transformation. It was like a board of combinations with no single solution, foreseeing the emergence of parametric architecture. Based on the collection of Price’s original drawings, this article presents a virtual reconstruction of the Fun Palace project. It includes new documentation and an analysis of the changeability of the constantly evolving elements that define the Fun Palace.

The paintings of Villa Lante, Villa d’Este and the Medici Villas dating from the 16th century have traditionally been interpreted as mimetic representations to explain the historical characteristics of the place. However, an analysis of the graphic process reveals other circumstances. In this article we suggest that the temporal discrepancy between the place and its representation, where the garden imitates the fresco, could have a contractual justification as a project document. Likewise, an intentional distortion of reality could respond to interests related to property and its commodification. The creation of the landscape and the use of perspective in this context complement a process of territorial domination and contribute to the consideration of a universal, distant and immobile observer. Painting and Architecture are articulated in the selected Renaissance villas and allow us to unravel a new visual sensibility of the territory.

The façade, that kind of architectural skin, takes on a multitude of forms and it is in this framework where architecture dialogues between place, identity, and history. Consequently, the city should not be approached only from a physical dimension, but it is essential to incorporate the experience of those who inhabit it. In this sense, photography not only invites us to see the city from a historical perspective, but also allows us to offer a personal and intentional representation of it with which to access expressive subjectivity. Thus, through a series of photographs of various buildings we can not only contemplate the urban and social transformation of A Coruña in the 20th century, but also propose an act of reinterpreta-tion and resignification of architectural spaces with historical and symbolic load.

The article analyses the evolution of postmodern design in Spain and its influence on the construction of its country-brand, popularly known as the «sun of Joan Miró». During the Franco years, Spain had occupied a generally peripheral position with respect to modernity, but the transition to democracy brought with it an atmosphere of freedom and marked the beginning of a creative explosion. This period of cultural transformation was characterised by an attitude of protest and the constant search for innovative approaches. Arguments in favour of «good design» lost relevance in favour of an «anti-design» aesthetic that rejected the formal and the conceptual, moving away from the International Style that had previously dominated. The boundaries between design and art merged, considering the designer as an artist in his or her own right. In this context, the image of Spain as a tourist destination was designed. The «Miró sun» became a milestone in the world of graphic design and left a profound mark on the promotion of tourist destinations worldwide. The main objective of this article is to explore the relationship between the birth of postmodern design in Spain and the design of its country brand. This study provides an analysis of the postmodern movement, evaluates the elements that contributed to the formation of Spain's brand image and investigates the relevance of the «Miró sun» and its influence on the design of other brands.

Some results on weaker forms of starn-CCC, weakly Lindelöf and starn-DCCC spaces

    Get PDF
In this paper we provide some general results about topological spaces X which satisfy starn- P , weakly starn- P and almost starn- P, for  P∈ { κ ᴄᴄ , W κ L , ᴅ κ ᴄᴄ } , where κ is an infinite cardinal number. The particular cases when κ = ω , P  ∈ { ᴄᴄᴄ , weakly Lindelöf , ᴅ ᴄᴄᴄ } are obtained. Furthermore, for the same classes of spaces defined by such P, by applying Erdős-Radó's theorem and using the rank l-diagonal notion, we establish some cardinal inequalities

Fixed point approximations via generalized MR-Kannan mappings in Banach spaces

In this paper, we introduce a generalization of the concept of MR-Kannan type contractions and utilize this condition to derive new fixed point theorems under both contractive and non-contractive conditions. Our approach enhances various existing results related to enriched mappings

On star Rothberger spaces modulo an ideal

    Get PDF
In this article, we introduce the ideal star-Rothberger property by coupling the notion of a star operator to that of an ideal Rothberger space, after which some of its topological characteristics are analysed. By creating relationships between a numbers of topological features with structures similar to the ideal star-Rothberger space, we reinforce the concept. In order to illustrate the differences between a number of related topological properties, we also provide several counter examples. Certain preservation-related properties under subspaces and functions are investigated. Lastly we find a way to express ideal star-Rothberger space by means of families of closed sets by bringing some modifications to the SSI^I property.

    Butterfly points and hyperspace selections

If f is a continuous selection for the Vietoris hyperspace ℱ(X) of the nonempty closed subsets of a space X, then the point f(X)∊ X is not as arbitrary as it might seem at first glance. In this paper, we will characterise these points by local properties at them. Briefly, we will show that p=f(X) is a strong butterfly point precisely when it has a countable clopen base in cl(U) for some open set U⊂ X\{p} with cl(U)=U ∪ {p}. Moreover, the same is valid when X is totally disconnected at p=f(X) and p is only assumed to be a butterfly point. This gives the complete affirmative solution to a question raised previously by the author. Finally, when p=f(X) lacks the above local base-like property, we will show that ℱ(X) has a continuous selection h with the stronger property that h(S)=p for every closed S⊂X with p∈S
