Get PDFIntroduction to this issueCe numéro spécial, dirigé par Ekaterina Gloriozova et Aude Merlin, réinterroge la place de l’olympisme dans l’histoire soviétique. Issu d’un colloque international organisé à l’ULB en février 2014, il privilégie les critères d’originalité et de richesse des matériaux empiriques. La plupart des articles se basent ainsi sur des études intensives de cas, centrées sur une approche qualitative. Les analyses présentées ici montrent ainsi que les JO de Sotchi peuvent être appréhendés comme un miroir grossissant de grandes questions qui se posent à la Russie postsoviétique des années 2010

Get PDFThis article focuses on the context of the elaboration and the implementation of public policy in view of large sports events in Russia. This subject is analysed through the specific prism of the implementation of stray dogs’ eradication policies in Kazan and Sochi before the 2013 Universiade and the 2014 Winter Olympic Games respectively. The article underlines subtle interactions between local actors, as well as neo- patrimonial logics that characterise public policies of urban renewal. This brings the author to develop a “engine of neo-patrimonial growth” model, specific to the post- Soviet context.Cet article porte sur le contexte spécifique de l’élaboration et de la mise en œuvre d’une politique publique en vue de la préparation de grands événements sportifs en Russie. Cette question est analysée à travers le cas spécifique de la mise en place de mesures d’éradication des animaux errants dans les villes de Kazan et Sotchi avant les Universiades de 2013 et les JO d’hiver de 2014. L’article permet ainsi de mettre en évidence les subtils jeux d’acteurs locaux ainsi que les logiques néo-patrimoniales caractéristiques des politiques publiques de restructuration urbaine, amenant l’auteure à proposer le modèle de « machines de croissance néo-patrimoniales » spécifique au contexte post-soviétique
