Scienza e teologia in dialogo sull’evoluzione
The article is the sum of two parts. First of all the article presents the up to date findings and the interpretations put forward by the scientific field regarding the evolution of human beings and of life. The article then deals with the growth of the complexity of living beings; the modality and the factors regarding the evolution of life, with particular reference to evolutionary developmental biology; hominization and the finalistic principle in nature. In the second part some questions which may have relevance in relation to theology are dealt with, raising a few problems: the emergence of human beings; monogenism, polygenism and original sin; finalism and the Teilhardian perspective.L’articolo si compone di due parti.
This article imagines mercy as an opportunity to enter the mystery of being. Mercy is not only a content, with cultural and conceptual connotations, but it is a method. This thesis is developed together with the reflection of P. Gilbert in his essay Violence et compassion and with his critical and metaphysical method. Through the analysis of the word, the concept and the presence of mercy we try, in the end, to propose an ontology that considers not only the acting but also the suffering at both level, anthropological and of the first principle.L’articolo pensa la misericordia come un’occasione per accedere al mistero dell’essere.
Starting from certain euchological texts of the current Roman Missal and from a popular theological publication on the «suffering of God», the present exegetical study of Philippians 2:5-11 focuses on Christ’s obedient «selfemptying », but also on the «com-passion» of God the Father. Hence it shows how the unsurpassable revelation of Christ attested in the NT transmits to the Church, necessarily in human and anthropomorphic language, the consoling Good News of a Deus patiens, who loves and by that fact suffers with his suffering children. Since, however, he acts as God and not as man, he does everything possible to finally liberate them from any evil.
The internal evolution of what we call «ecology» requires an essential philosophical study, not only to define an ethics able to respond to the urgent needs that we can no longer delay, but also to help us outlining the theoretical, ideal and practical model of the relationship between man and nature. Considering how the theme has developed throughout history, the article suggests to consider the man both an integral part of nature, and at the same time able to keep some distance, and consequently his freedom, in front of the entities he works out and transforms, to meet his needs, perceive and articulate the sense he feels in his existence. What we can define as the cultural importance of the relationship between man and nature inevitably involves also a technical aspect, which has in western societies extended over time.
Man and nature were created to be in relationship with each other, now and forever. This fundamental assumption of creation’s biblical theology finds an interesting further study in the prophetic literature, where different oracles of salvation dedicate attention to (eschatological) “redemption” of nature. Also creation, according to the thought of the prophets, is called to share the saved humanity bliss. Particularly, according to the first Isaiah’s vision, the cosmos assumes a function that we could call “of a witness”: be a sign of the final transfiguration of humanity, and share the same joy.
