Estudios de género en Latinoamérica

El curso se enfoca en el pensamiento crítico y analítico de las
representaciones sociales de género e identidad sexual, y sus efectos en las
culturas latinoamericanas contemporáneas. En el mundo globalizado, los
artefactos culturales dirigidos a la cultura de masas son un modo de
influencia y de negociación en la construcción social y personal, en el espacio
público, privado e íntimo.
En este curso se analizan textos teóricos y textos literarios latinoamericanos
considerados canónicos (poesía, cuento, teatro y novela corta), entrevistas,
testimonios y expresiones de la cultura de masas (música popular, videos,
TV, filmes, redes sociales) que protegen, cuestionan, subvierten, interpretan
y/o representan la feminidad, la masculinidad y la sexualidad. En suma, este
curso estimula a los alumnos a pensar críticamente acerca de las narrativas,
las imágenes, las prácticas que perpetúan, negocian y/o confrontan las
normas de género y sexualidad.
Se espera que los estudiantes enriquezcan sus habilidades para interpretar,
evaluar, escuchar, leer, ver, pensar, hablar y escribir críticamente

Our goal is to raise critical questions about the opportunities and challenges that
companies and entrepreneurs encounter when doing business with countries from
the Southern Cone such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile,Paraguay and Uruguay. We
begin by introducing the general context in which international business takes place
in the region. Once we have looked at the big picture, we focus on the controllable
and uncontrollable forces in the Southern Cone business environment. Our approach
is based on a guided, well-informed discussion thatwill help students build
understanding on the advantages and disadvantages of doing business in the
region. Throughout the course students are expectedto develop basic
interdisciplinary skills for business decision-making. By the end of the course,
students gain valuable insight on the opportunitiesthat Argentina, Brazil, Chile,
Paraguay and Uruguay offer and are ready to conductresearch and access first
hand information about Southern markets
Political and Social Change

This course focuses on political and social change and its instrumental role in the
formation of national identity. Drawing mainly on historic sources, the course
analyzes the cases of Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia and Argentina.
Students will get familiar not only with the political system and parties but also with
the uprising of new social actors and protest movements and prospects resulting
from the dialogue between states, societies and social forces. The course will also
address the role citizenship and institutions play in democracy nowadays and the
effect the succession of repressive military dictatorships had in relation to memory

No full textThis course will study the development patterns of Latin America since
colonial times to present days. Dependency from external factors has
underpinned Latin America´s economic development. This course will focus
on the specific issues that determined the economicdevelopment of the
region as a whole, as well as that of individual countries. The first part of
this course will focus on economic history. In the second part, students are
expected to choose one country from a list of LatinAmerican countries and
conduct research. A case study of the chosen country’s patterns of
development and how economic history forged present-day conditions
/issues /disparities/insertion in the world will bepresented, both orally -
approximately 25 minutes followed by a 10-15 discussion – as well as
written, both with a substantial weigh in the totalfinal grade of the course,
as seen below. The third part of the course will focus on the future
prospects of Latin American development, future dilemmas and strategies
to follow

curso es que puedan adquirir un dominio general de la lengua para comunicarse en situaciones
conocidas de la vida diaria y del turismo. Al completar el curso, los alumnos podrán interactuar en
situaciones conocidas, dar y comprender indicaciones sencillas, entender y transmitir mensajes
breves y simples y llenar formularios, redactar notas, postales y cartas breves.
Por otro lado, dado que el estudiante se encuentra en un contexto de inmersión, el curso se propone
explotar la experiencia del contacto cotidiano con la lengua para fomentar el conocimiento de las

It’s specific and distinctive characteristics challenges the “traditional” conception and dynamics of
drug trafficking and -therefore- the control of law enforcementagainst them. This article intends to
offer a brief but (nonetheless) wide analysis about this kind of drug and its global and -
consequently- regional impact; presenting a necessary status of this criminal process and the
challenges ahead.Dentro del narcotráfico como fenómeno delictivo global, las drogas de diseño o de síntesis

El patrimonio arquitectónico del siglo 20 en Buenos Aires: el legado Vilar / The 20th century architectural heritage in Buenos Aires: the Vilar’s legacy
Get PDFThe new chapter of our research is devoted to enlighten the omnipresent contribution of
Antonio and Carlos Vilar to Buenos Aires architectural heritage. Their work, individually and
in partnership, is relevant though far from being recognised in its real dimension.
While Antonio Vilar’s work was mostly -though not exclusively- devoted to public and big
scale projects, Carlos Vilar, who collaborated with his brother in some of them, focused his
practice on individual and middle scale buildings for housing. Both based their proposals on
the international Modern Movement principles but rooted them into the local context.
Antonio Vilar was a pioneer in different fields: integral design, building rationality and even
cultural preservation. Carlos Vilar explored the housing programme in deep. Their aesthetics,
based on the strict attachment to functionality and efficiency became a reference for the
architecture of middle 20th century. Both contributions are being revisited in this preliminary
report in an attempt to enhance their legacy.Este nuevo capítulo de nuestro proyecto de investigación está destinado a iluminar el
omnipresente aporte de Antonio y Carlos Vilar al patrimonio arquitectónico de Buenos Aires.
Su obra, individual y conjunta, es relevante y aún espera ser reconocida en su real
dimensión.
Mientras la producción de Antonio Vilar fue fundamentalmente –aunque no exclusivamente dedicada
a la obra pública y proyectos de gran escala, la de Carlos Vilar, quien colaboró con
su hermano en algunos casos, se focalizó mayormente en edificios para vivienda individual y
colectiva. Ambos adoptaron los principios internacionales del Movimiento Moderno pero
supieron arraigarlos al contexto local.
Antonio Vilar fue un pionero en distintos campos: diseño integral, construcción racional e
incluso preservación cultural. Carlos Vilar exploró con dedicación las posibilidades del
programa de vivienda. Sus propuestas estéticas, basadas en el estricto respeto de la
funcionalidad y la eficiencia se convirtieron en una referencia habitual para la arquitectura de
mediados del siglo 20. Ambas aportaciones son estudiadas en este informe preliminar en un
intento de ponerlas en valor
