Between Transfusion Tanguine and Euthanasia:Notes on the Relation “Right to die”et l’<ordre public medical>
application/pdf論文(Article)This paper discusses the relations of the personal autonomy of a patient and L’ordre public medical through an examination of the problem of transfusion refusal and euthanasia. In fact, the strong wariness to the active euthanasia by the French law was already shown in the transfusion refusal case. The French law finds the euthanasia in the transfusion refusal, and considers that accepting a transfusion refusal means accepting “the subjective right about an own life”. Thus, in the world of law, the claim of subjective “right to die”is sealed in France, and the President repeats and confirms this in the latest reply to Remy Salvat. Constructing Programming Environment for Time-Varying Image Processing Using Industrial Digital Cameras
application/pdf論文(Article)We have developed a programming environment of image processing for industrial digital cameras. These cameras directly output digital data for image processing,while NTSC-video cameras needed a converting process from analog data to digital data. As those cameras allow various settings such as resolutions and frame rates,they need various control signals to set up. Our programming environment generates these control signals through GUI. Using the environment, programmers can easily write programs for image processing without detailed knowledge on IIDC standard.departmental bulletin pape
A Consideration for Fundamental Education of Discrete Mathematics
application/pdf論文(Article)We offer a wide range of information processing education at Fukuoka Institute of Technology, Junior College (FITJC, for short). Many aspects of these courses are based on mathematical theories. Accordingly,we offer a class on discrete mathematics in which the fundamental ideas of the subject are explained. In this paper, we analyze the content of lectures, the examination results and the students’evaluation reports for the discrete mathematics class as taught by the author at FITJC from 2006 to 2008. Semi-Optimum Solution of Traveling Salesman Problem by Self-Organizing MapsⅡ
application/pdf論文(Article)The traveling salesman problem is one of the most difficult problems in optimization problems. In this study we improve the method of B. Angeniol et al.based on the self-organizing maps (SOM) by T.Kohonen in several points. We apply the present method systematically to 100-, 500-, 1000-, 5000-, 11849-city problem. The result shows that the computing time is proportional to approximately the square of the number of cities. That is,the present method gives a polynomial algorithm, though within the limits of semi-optimum solutions, for the traveling salesman problem that is one of the representative problems of the NP complete problem.departmental bulletin pape
Optimization of Recitation Schedule of College by Genetic Algorithm
application/pdf論文(Article)The recitation schedule of college includes jointly-held classes,two-period long stretched classes,teachers’training days, fixed classes, etc. It needs long time and considerable effort to make a recitation schedule that satisfies such complex conditions. In the case of Fukuoka Institute of Technology,the staffs of the school affairs section make the recitation schedule in the policy modifying the preceding year schedule by new conditions and alterations. It usually takes about two months to make schedules for nine departments. Furthermore the existing schedules hardly satisfy demands of all teachers. A Study on the Effects of Learning Strategies on a Learner’s
application/pdf論文(Article)In order to examine the effects of learning strategies on achievements,an original questionnaire on ways of learning English was developed and distributed to 59 first-year university students. The results revealed that lower proficient learners took less effective ways in memorizing,did not utilize their test results for improvement,and poorly managed their study hours when compared to intermediate proficient learners. Moreover, stronger tendencies to persist in taking the memory-first policy were showed in lower proficient learners. The findings suggest that learning strategies have an effect on achievement, thus making learners think about their learning methods could be an important key to help raise their achievements as well as to avoid losing confidence in learning English.departmental bulletin pape
Microbial BOD Biosensors Based on Shochu Distillery Wastewater-utilizing Yeast Strain
application/pdf論文(Article)Microbial biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) biosensors have been developed for rapid and reliable BOD estimation of the shochu distillery wastewater by employing the same wastewater-utilizing microorganisms isolated from activated sludge. These microorganisms, identified as two strains of Candida species and a strain of Saccharomyces specie, were found to grow more rapidly in a shochu wastewater medium as compared to Trichosporon cutaneum which has been adopted as the microorganism for BOD biosensors by the Japanese Industrial Standard Committee. BOD biosensors based on shochu wastewater-assimilating microbes yielded relatively high BOD values for the wastewater compared to the sensor based on T. cutaneum. This suggests that these sensors respond only to easily and fast assimilable substances for the microbes. The results obtained in the present work demonstrate the developed BOD sensor to be a promising device for BOD estimation of the shochu wastewater.departmental bulletin pape
Control of a Moving Robot by Using an Optical Mouse Sensor
application/pdf論文(Article)We develop a precision moving robot that uses an optical mouse sensor and two drive-wheels placed in parallel. Optical mouse sensor detects two-dimensional movements and generates signals according to its own orthogonal XY-axis. When the sensor is placed at the top of a right isosceles triangle composed of two drive wheels, the sensor independently generates mortion signals for each wheel along its own orthogonal XY-axis.
