Synthesis of anisotropic hydrogels of poly(N -isopropylacrylamide) hybridized with nanosheet liquid crystal of fluortetrasilicic mica

application/pdf論文(Article)Anisotropic hydrogels were synthesized by radical polymerization of N-isopropylacrylamide in the liquid crystalline aqueous colloids of fluortetrasilicic mica (FTSM) nanosheets. As the concentration of FTSM and/or chemical crosslinker (N,N’-methylenebisacrylamide) increased, the swelling degree at equilibrium decreased, while the gels became more elastic but more brittle. The gels synthesized in a thin glass capillary showed unilateral orientation of the optical axis over whole the gel domain (several cm)due to concentrically aligned nanosheets in the cylindrical gel. Birefringence index △n increased as the nanosheet concentration increased. The diameter of the capillary and the lateral size of the nanosheets also affected △n. Due to the anisotropy in the structure of the hybrid gels, the gels also showed anisotropy in thermally-induced volume phase transition at around 34℃ upon increasing the temperature. The degree of shrinkage as well as its anisotropy basically decreased as the content of FTSM increased.departmental bulletin pape

Classification of mental disorders by Self-Organization Maps : New analysis of MMPI data

    Get PDF
application/pdf論文(Article)A result of a psychological test (MMPI) that is often used in the diagnoses of psychiatric patients is classified by using the Self-Organization Maps. The test is composed of 550 questions that are grouped in 10 scales corresponding to characteristic symptoms. The used data is those of 45 psychiatric patients and healthy 6 staffs. The classified map is in rather good coincidence with the outcomes of a clinical doctor.departmental bulletin pape

Model Based Learning in Stochastic Environments

    Get PDF
application/pdf論文(Article)Model based learning can reevaluate the utility of every state, according to a measure of urgency. Prioritized sweeping is a typical algorithm for efficient state updating. In a stochastic environment, a probability distribution can be used to represent the uncertainty of the Q-value caused by probabilistic state transitions or probabilistic rewards. The product of the confidence interval and the Bellman error is used to provide a measure for prioritizing, which takes account of the level of confidence and also yields a measure of urgency. The performance of this approach in the trap domain is examined and compared with that of the ordinary sweeping method. Experimental results indicate that the proposed approach results in a more effective exploration of the state than does the use of conventional sweeping methods.departmental bulletin pape

The Regulation Concerning an Agreement between the Undertakings in EU Competition Law ―Focusing on the Judgment Framework of Article 101(3) TFEU―

application/pdf論文(Article)This paper discusses the judgment framework of Article 101(3) TFEU.Article 101(1) TFEU prohibits agreements that restrict competition and may be declared inapplicable where the criteria set out in Article 101(3) are satisfied. Further, Article 101(3) TFEU renders exemption from the prohibition pursuant to Article 101(1) TFEU subject to the following conditions:(Ⅰ) improving the production or distribution of goods or promoting technical or economic progress, (Ⅱ) fair share for consumers, (Ⅲ) indispensability of the restrictions, and (Ⅳ) no substantial elimination of competition.departmental bulletin pape

The states and ideas in education shown in "Genshishiroku" by Issai Sato

    Get PDF
application/pdf論文(Article)Based on the states and ideas in education shown in “Genshishiroku” by Issai Sato, some methods of instruction were examined in this article. First, four states affected by a teacher’s instruction are discussed. They are 1) a state by the instruction based on a learner character, 2) a state set a good demonstration by a teacher, 3) a state by the instruction at exactly the right time, and 4) a state influenced by a teacher’s good personality. Second, two teaching methods are referred. One is a method concerning “words”used by a teacher and it is discussed from three points of view. They are 1) to use clear and simple words and speak slowly, and 2) to speak to learners honestly with a teacher’s whole heart. Another methods about enhancing a learner’s self-direction competence. It is categorized into 1) indirect influences by other persons, 2) instructions with mind of acceptance, 3)instructions with topics on morals, 4) confirming a learner’s original intention, and 5) having a learner think over the contents of a lecture after the lecture.departmental bulletin pape

The Global vision system for TekBots®

    Get PDF
application/pdf論文(Article)The Department of Electrical Engineering at FIT is carring out the curriculum named TekBots Platform for Learning (TekBots PFL) in cooperation with Oregon State University that is our partner university in the USA. We have developed the overall education system that uses the global vision system for TekBots PFL. In this paper, the development of the global vision system is reported along with the TekBots, educational program. The system that is composed by a color camera, a vision sensor, a strategy computer, and TekBots has been developed by us. It enables the analyses of the vision with color camera, and it controls TekBots. As a result, The TekBots successfully carries a ball to a target point.departmental bulletin pape

Performance Evaluation of Shuffled Complex Evolution Optimization M ethod and Its Improvement

    Get PDF
application/pdf論文(Article)This paper investigates the characteristics of the shuffled complex evolution (SCE-UA) global optimization method and proposes a modified SCE-UA algorithm. The search performance of the SCE-UA method was compared with that of a real-coded genetic algorithm with the simplex crossover (SPX) using several benchmark functions. The SCE-UA method showed higher performance than SPX for all test functions. The“mutation step”on the SCE-UA algorithm was modified because of a decrease in optimization performance for the objective function that has the optimal solution near the boundary of the search space. As a result, the modified SCE-UA method showed a high efficiency for optimization. It is thought that the improved SCE-UA method can be effectively applied to various problems with function optimization.departmental bulletin pape
