Team Viability Relationship with Quiet Quitting and Career Satisfaction in Knowledge Workers Teams

    No full text
This study analyses the role of team viability in quiet quitting and career satisfaction. Understanding the core principles of viable teams and disengaged team members or being satisfied with their careers could enable organisations to be more adaptable to the workforce. An empirical study was conducted on a sample of 207 knowledge workers from various organisations. The results of the multiple regression analysis suggest that team viability has a significant negative relationship with quiet quitting, and a significant positive relationship with career satisfaction. The mediation analysis results showed that career satisfaction mediated the relationship between team viability and quiet quitting. The study provided insights about viable team members participating in lower quiet quitting behaviours, and if those team members feel satisfied with their careers, quiet quitting behaviours are even lower

    Vertimas kaip įrodymas teismo procese

    No full text
This article is one of the first studies to examine the use of translation as evidence in Lithuanian court proceedings. It outlines the ways translation enters the judicial process, the involvement of translators and expert linguists, and their respective roles in the process of translation and assessment. Drawing on three case studies, the article demonstrates how translation can itself become challenged in court and analyses the approaches courts employ when assessing the language of the original in relation to the translated text. It draws attention to questionable or flawed practices in determining meaning and raises concerns about the limited linguistic competence of judicial decision makers. It also addresses issues relating to the role and responsibility of the expert linguist.Šis straipsnis – vienas pirmųjų darbų, skirtų vertimo kaip įrodymo Lietuvos teismo procese nagrinėjimui.

The Implementation of Accrual Accounting in Lithuania’s Public Sector: Retrospective Assessment of the Challenges

    No full text
The article analyses the reform of the Lithuanian public sector accounting system, with an emphasis on the transition from cash-based to accrual-based accounting based on International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS). The study examines the stages of the reform and the challenges encountered, including the lack of qualified personnel, complex legal systems and insufficient technological infrastructure. Based on a literature review and qualitative expert interviews, the study finds that external pressures - EU policy, IPSAS recommendations, and internal motivation - led to the initiation of the reform. Although the long-term benefits of the reform are evident, the study highlights persistent systemic challenges, including gaps in legal alignment with the accrual basis, uneven technological readiness, and varying levels of accounting professionals’ competence. Therefore, to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of accrual-based public sector accounting in Lithuania, it is essential to further develop the legal and institutional framework, continuously enhance professional development, and strengthen inter-institutional cooperation. The article contributes to the international discourse on public sector accounting harmonisation by providing a detailed, context-specific case study of the Lithuanian experience

Kidney Agenesis and Müllerian Duct Anomalies: A Report of Two Cases and Literature Review

    No full text
Background: The association between urinary tract anomalies and Müllerian duct anomalies (MDA) is well-known, due to their shared embryonic origin. Disruptions in early development can significantly affect both the kidney and reproductive systems. This article presents two cases illustrating the coexistence of kidney agenesis and MDA in girls, followed by a literature review.Materials and Methods: A literature search was conducted on PubMed, focusing on publications from 2000 to 2024 by using keywords: ‘kidney agenesis’, ‘renal agenesis’, ‘Müllerian duct anomalies’, ‘OHVIRA’ (obstructed hemivagina and ipsilateral renal anomaly), and ‘Herlyn-Werner-Wunderlich syndrome’. The PRISMA guidelines were followed for the study selection. Additionally, two cases managed at Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Klinikos between 2022 and 2024 are presented. Results: The literature search yielded 32 articles encompassing data on 43 girls with an average age of 11.8 years. In 54% of the cases, the diagnosis of kidney agenesis was concurrent with identifying MDA. In other cases, kidney anomalies were detected earlier, including 6 cases identified prenatally. Type III MDA, as classified by the American Fertility Society, was the most common variety. Premenarche diagnosis of MDA was made in 11.9% of the cases. In more than half of the cases, MDA was identified due to complaints necessitating consultations, mostly leading to urgent surgical interventions. At our hospital, a 9-year-old and a 14-year-old were diagnosed with Herlyn-Werner-Wunderlich syndrome. Kidney agenesis was diagnosed prior to MDA in both cases. For the 9-year-old girl, MDA was found incidentally on ultrasound, while the other required consultation and an urgent surgery due to symptoms. Conclusions: Unilateral kidney agenesis frequently co-occurs with Müllerian duct anomalies, highlighting the need for comprehensive evaluations in affected patients. An early diagnosis and management of MDA are crucial to prevent complications. An increased clinical awareness and further research are necessary to enhance early detection and patient outcomes

Stereotactic Ablative Radiation Therapy for Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma – A Review of Evidence

    No full text
Because of its remarkable precision in providing targeted radiation, recent evidence supports Stereotactic Ablative Radiation Therapy (SABR) as a promising non-invasive treatment approach for metastatic renal cell carcinoma, minimizing harm to adjacent healthy tissues. With regards to its heterogeneous nature with diverse clinical presentations, rapid progression and metastatic potential, Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) is known to make therapy more challenging, and also to reduce the survival rates. Even though Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors (ICIs) remain the gold standard for treating metastatic RCC (mRCC), certain patients with one or a few distant metastases seem to have a longer survival period if the metastases are surgically removed. However, complete responses are not always the case, with radiation being increasingly incorporated as a component of multidisciplinary care. Moreover, studies proving the immunogenic qualities of hypofractionated SABR and the safety and potential of combining SABR with immune-based and surgical therapy for mRCC are becoming more prevalent in the literature. SABR helps induce local inflammation with the tumour, promoting T cell activation and antigen presentation. Multiple retrospective and prospective reports have also demonstrated that SABR assigned to the metastatic locations of mRCC, while using ablative dosages, achieves high local control rates with a good toxicity profile, thus disproving earlier theories of RCC radioresistance. This review outlines the key evidence favouring SABR being administered to metastatic tumours, including the results of recent prospective phase 2 trials in patients with oligometastatic, oligoprogressive, and unselected mRCC. The body of data that has been gathered points to SABR as a promising indicator that is being utilized more and more in the multidisciplinary management of mRCC

Health Literacy and Self-Efficacy among University Students in the United States

    No full text
Research suggests that college can be a time of high stress, serious mental health challenges, and high-risk substance use habits. Self-efficacy (one’s belief in their abilities) and health literacy (one’s ability to read, understand, and apply health information) are two factors that promote wellbeing and positive health behaviors among college students, but little research has been conducted so far that looks at the relationship between these protective factors. Thus, this study examined the connection between self-efficacy and health literacy among American college students. Data were collected by using quota sampling from 410 undergraduate students. Health literacy was measured by using the All Aspects of Health Literacy Scale, whereas self-efficacy was measured by using the General Self-Efficacy Scale. Self-efficacy was positively predicted by functional (b = 2.77; d = 0.26; p < 0.001), communicative (b = 2.94; d = 0.27; p < 0.01), and critical health literacy (b = 1.51; d = 0.14; p < 0.05). Our findings suggest a positive relationship between self-efficacy and health literacy in the college student population in the United States. Colleges and universities can work to provide accessible health literacy resources and education, as this type of health literacy education may also lead to higher self-efficacy and increased overall wellbeing

Breast Cancer Support Groups and Benefits Associated with Their Participation: A Narrative Literature Review

    No full text
Support groups are widely established in the world and serve as effective psychoeducational interventions, reducing stress, anxiety, and depression while enhancing the overall well-being and self-efficacy. The study aimed to describe the characteristics of support groups tailored for women diagnosed with breast cancer and the benefits associated with their participation. The narrative literature review strategy was applied. A search was performed in PubMed, Science Direct, and EBSCO from 2013 to 2023, and SANRA was used to evaluate the quality of the articles. The narrative analysis incorporated 29 research articles. The study findings reveal that support groups are held at various stages of the cancer journey, and participation in support groups significantly benefits women diagnosed with breast cancer by providing social support, information, and knowledge. Peer support and forming social bonds contribute to well-being, while communication opportunities address social needs. Overall, support groups are an opportunity to empower women, and participation in them is a valuable chance for individuals to connect, share experiences, increase knowledge of the disease, and receive the necessary emotional reinforcement

People understood the concept of a curve intuitively in ancient times. By observing the trajectory of a thrown stone, the curvature of riverbanks, the contours of leaves of plants and flowers, people gradually developed the concept of curve. The paper attempts to discuss such curves, which have led mathematicians to take a deeper look at the concept of curve and to study the properties of curves more seriously. The authors use the term ``remarkable curves\u27\u27 for those curves of third and fourth order that give rise to circles (generating circles). The equations of such curves in Cartesian coordinates can be derived using elementary geometry methods, usually using the similarity of triangles. The authors believe that the ideas presented in this article will help mathematics teachers to encourage students to take a more serious interest in the very interesting science of mathematics.Kreivės sąvoka buvo intuityviai suprasta dar gilioje senovėje. Stebėdami mesto akmens trajektoriją, upės krantų išlinkimus, augalų ir gėlių lapų kontūrus, žmonės palaipsniui vystė kreivės sąvokos sampratą. Straipsnyje bandoma aptarti tokias kreives, kurios privertė matematikus giliau pažvelgti į kreivės sąvoką ir rimčiau užsiimti kreivių savybių nagrinėjimu. Terminu ,,ypatingosios kreivės`` autoriai vadina tas trečiosios ir ketvirtosios eilės kreives, kurias generuoja apskritimai (generuojantys apskritimai). Tokių kreivių lygtis dekartinėse koordinatėse galima išvesti tik elementariosios geometrijos metodais, dažniausiai taikant trikampių panašumą. Autoriai mano, kad straipsnyje išdėstytos mintys padės matematikos mokytojams paskatinti mokinius rimčiau domėtis labai įdomiu mokslu – matematika
