Unveiling Corruption in Kola Eke’s Poetry: A New Historicist Approach
This paper critically examines Kola Eke’s poetic exploration of corruption within Nigeria’s historical scene. Positioned as a Third-Generation Nigerian poet, Eke follows in the tradition of prominent Second Generation poets like Niyi Osundare, Tanure Ojaide, Odia Ofeimun etc. who have used their poetic works to highlight the socio-political and economic challenges that have plagued Nigeria since its independence in 1960. The study emphasises Eke’s significant contributions to the discourse on corruption, particularly within Nigeria’s civil service, electoral commission, and broader political leaderships. By employing a New Historicist approach, the paper analyses Eke’s imaginative representation of corruption to uncover its various forms and historical roots, while also considering the poet’s suggestions for mitigating these issues. The findings reveal that Eke’s work powerfully critiques the pervasive corruption in Nigeria, shedding light on its destructive and debilitating impacts on the nation.

Assessment of Dyeing Time on Color Change of Dyed Cotton Fabrics using Household Bleach
Dyeing processes play a pivotal role in the textile industry, enabling the patterns context. The duration of dyeing, often referred to as "dyeing time," is an essential variable that impacts color development, color fastness, and resource utilization. The significance of this study is multi fold in textile production. It revealed and addresses a knowledge gap in the textile industry concerning the influence of varying dyeing times on cotton fabrics. The study has multiple fronts that addresses a critical aspect of textile production in the dyeing process. A range of different dyeing times, including short and long durations of 10 minutes to 50 minutes is established. Descriptive Statistic was used to analyse the data which summarizes and describes the characteristics of the data set. This consists of three basic categories of measures: measures of central tendency, measures of variability (or spread), and frequency distribution. Higher dye concentration can reduce the time required for the dye to exhaust onto the fabric. It is apparent that green and purple dyes were used, and the temperature was maintained at 87.5°C. The study examined the parameters for dyeing cotton fabric and assessed the color strength and color parameters of the resulting samples. Beyond this point, dye absorption remained relatively constant, indicating equilibrium in dye absorption. The impact of dyeing time and dye absorption equilibrium, manufacturers can minimize resource wastage
The Theological Significance of Social Action in the Context of Holistic Evangelism in Ugheli Diocese of the Anglican Church
This paper discusses the theological significance of social action against the backdrop of holistic evangelism in Ugheli (Anglican Communion). Generally, evangelism is the ultimate task of the Christian church as evident in the biblical account of the mission of the twelve (Matt. 10: 5-15; Mk. 6: 7-13; Luke 9: 1-6) and the seventy (10: 1-20). Holistic evangelism entails converting non-Christians to Christianity and retaining, as well as strengthening, the faith of the converts. Yet, one of the greatest impediments to effective holistic evangelism in contemporary times is the lack of enchantment on the part of the target audience. This paper therefore, examines how social action impacts on evangelism, using the Diocese of Ugheli (Anglican Communion) as a case study. Historical, analytical, and evaluative approaches were used in the study. More so, the study employed the phenomenological approach to data gathering. The study finds that social action, as a practical demonstration of commitment to the well-being of the people, is an impetuous tool for evangelism as the church addresses the socio-economic problems of the people alongside their spiritual needs through social action. The result of this is increase, not only in the number of converts, but also in the number of those effectively retained. The study concludes that evangelism without social action in contemporary times is counterproductive. The recommendation is that churches should pay adequate attention to social action as a tool for effective holistic evangelism, particularly in Ugheli (Anglican Communion).

Impact of Peer Tutoring and Co-Operative Learning on the Academic Achievement of Adolescents in Education District II of Lagos State (Assessment implication for Evaluators)
The current paradigm shift in teaching-learning processes of the 21st century education space is the student centered approach of keeping the students actively engaged and involved within the limited learning time. It is no more the teacher centered approach, whereby teachers to do all the talking while students watch and listen during class time of lessons. ‘With the aim of sustaining this paradigm shift, the study examined the impact of peer tutoring and cooperative learning on academic achievement of adolescents in Education District II of Lagos State. The descriptive survey research design was employed. Three hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The instrument for the study was a self-constructed questionnaire “Impact of Peer Tutoring and Cooperative Learning on students’ Academic Achievements (IPTCLSAA) questionnaire, and Mathematics Achievement Test (MAT). Findings from the study revealed that cooperative learning, peer tutoring exerts a significant influence on students’ achievement in Mathematics lastly, the joint effect of students’ use of cooperative learning and peer tutoring towards Mathematics was significant on their academic achievement, when such effect accounted for 27.6% of the variance in the students’ academic achievement; such significant effect emanated from the individual significant contribution or influence which the culture of using peer tutoring had on academic achievement, while the culture of using cooperative learning had no significant effect on academic achievement. It was recommended among others that the Nigerian Government/Ministry of Education/all well-meaning education stakeholders should encourage the school teachers with financial aids or incentives in order to attend seminars and capacity building workshop in relation to best practices of using cooperative learning and peer tutoring to impart knowledge in mathematics, and that curriculum planners should replicate this research in order to authenticate the findings obtained.

Managerial Irrationality and Dividend Policy of Non-Financial Firms in Nigeria
The study examined the effect of managerial irrationality (Hubris Hypothesis) on dividend policy of 27 non-financial firms listed on the Nigerian stock exchange for the period 2011 to 2022. The specific objectives were to ascertain whether managerial overconfidence, chairman-CEO duality, ownership concentration, firm growth, leverage, total assets and profit after tax significantly affect firms’ dividend policy. To this end, the panel data analysis econometric technique was employed for analysis of data, and the results obtained revealed that while managerial overconfidence has significant positive effect on dividend policy, profit after tax has a significant negative impact on dividend policy. The other hypothesized variables such as chairman-CEO duality, ownership concentration, firm growth, leverage and total assets do not have any significant relationship with dividend policy of firms in Nigeria. The study recommends among others that, board of directors intending to grow their firms should endeavour to recruit managers who do not have such behavioural trait/biases. Also, a higher proportion of independent directors should be engaged on the board in order to mitigate the effect of managerial overconfidence and dominance and reduces the probability of the firms not to pay dividend.

Warfares and Weaponry of Pre-Colonial Igala Land 1500-1900: A Historical Analysis
It is gratifying to know that the study on warfare and weaponry in pre-colonial times is receiving attention globally and not just limited to African studies within Africa as a continent alone, but cuts across the globe. Global War Studies is indeed a study of warfare right from pre-colonial times to the present. Prior to the arrival of the Europeans, Africans had no means of recording their histories in written form. By the 1800s the art of writing in Arabic was introduced to them and some Islamic scholars could record their histories in Arabic language and could record their military histories in written form too. Even the widely acclaimed works of Arabic scholars were restricted and obviously too, to just certain parts of Africa. In analyzing the mode of pre- colonial warfare fought at the time, certain factors were considered such as the strategies and tactics adopted by the people and how such strategies and tactics contributed to the defeat of their enemies. The Euro - Centric Scholars on the other hand have written their historical records to sooth their side of the story, their records of war fought against Africans were mostly biased. European scholars especially were inclined to believe that in pre-colonial times the peoples of the West African sub-region were too weak to defend themselves or too timid to launch offensives, against offending neighbours. This assumption was considered as misrepresentation and misunderstanding of historical realities. This work unveils various warfare fought in pre-colonial Igala-land with a view to clearing doubts regarding the factors that makes up the history of the Igala more complete. Warfare is very important function of state formation. This paper examines the peopling of Igala land, their traditions of origins, oral tradition. Their social, political, economic and religious institutions in pre-colonial times. Other issues include rules and conventions of wars, liability to military service. The organization and role of the military, weapons and how they were acquired, administrative and logistic support and the fate of prisoners of war among others. The paper also assesses some major wars fought by the Igala, the Igala-Benin war, the Igala-Jukun War, the aftermath and consequences of such wars, Lessons learnt, peace initiatives and processes, termination of hostilities and the relations in the Igbo-Igala borderland. Oral tradition of origin was mostly consulted and used in reconstructing the histories of Pre-colonial Warfare in Igala land as a reference material in the histories of Pre-Colonial Warfares and Weaponry in Igala land and Africa at large. This paper has adopted both primary and secondary sources.
