HYPOXIA-MEDIATED INVASIVENESS AND METASTASIS: FOCUS ON CANINE AND HUMAN MAMMARY TUMORS
Breast cancer and canine mammary cancer are malignancies that affect millions of bitches and women in the world. Several studies show a worst prognosis for patients with hypoxic mammary tumor (tumors with low oxygen perfusion) due to an increased expression of Hypoxia Inducible Factor (HIF) and consequently several other hypoxia-induced molecules, like Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), Lysyl-oxidase (LOX) and Erythropoietin (EPO). All these molecules and factors contribute to a higher chance of tumor cells survival in this hypoxic microenvironment. In this paper review, molecular mechanisms which hypoxia influences on breast cancer were covered for both women and bitches, with some promising drugs that could target these molecules and increase patient survival and quality of life.Breast cancer and canine mammary cancer are malignancies that affect millions of bitches and women in the world. THE NON-JUDICIALIZATION OF THE USUCAPION PROCEDURE BY THE EXTRAJUDICIAL RULE
Objective: This research deals with the new extra-judicial usucapion procedure, introduced in the legal system by the New Civil Procedure Code (Law 13.015/15). In his art. 1,071, the New Civil Code added art. 216-A in the Law n.6.015/73 (Public Registers), and established, in its paragraphs, a list of legal requirements for acquisition of property (real state) by extrajudicial misappropriation. Methods: The research aims at the interpretation of the norms that make up the legal institute of extrajudicial usucapion; analyzes interrelated norms of equal or different hierarchies in the legal system, starting with the Federal Constitution; analyzes the infraconstitutional legislation and normative acts that regulate the extra-judicial usucapion; analyzes technical reports from notary public registries and court decisions, in order to understand the operational aspects of the legal institute researched. Results: The results are partial, with positive and negative aspects and some controversial points, since its application is still in the phase of adaptation by the notaries. There have been practical doubts, however, in view of this, on 14/12/2017, the National Council of Justice – CNJ – brought to public attention a document, which established several guidelines for the procedure of extrajudicial misappropriation in notary public registries and public real estate registries. Conclusion: The extrajudicial misappropriation procedure allowed the recognition by extrajudicial way of all the usucapion modalities foreseen in the Brazilian law, provided that all the legal requirements are met. Thus, the present study aimed to study the new procedure, which brought speed and quick resolution of the demands, but did not exclude the discretion of the judiciary, since the procedure is optional, so it will be up to the interested party to choose. DNA DAMAGE IN WOMEN WITH DYSLIPIDEMIA BEFORE AND AFTER NUTRITIONAL INTERVENTION
Abstract: Dyslipidemias are metabolic alterations characterized by the accumulation of one or more classes of lipoproteins. This pathology is strongly related to lipoperoxidation, since the free fatty acids in the blood are targets for the reactive oxygen species, generating byproducts capable to cause DNA damage. Purpose: The present study aims to evaluate the frequency of DNA damage in buccal cells of dyslipidemic women assisted in the Clinic of Nutrition at University of Franca. Material and methods: Peripheral blood from 19 women was collected to analyze the levels of total cholesterol (TC), high density lipoprotein (HDL), very low density lipoprotein (VLDL), low density lipoprotein (LDL), triglycerides, aspartate aminotransferase (ASP) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT), fasting glycaemia and glycated hemoglobin (A1C) and buccal cells was collect in order to determine the frequency of micronuclei as well as its correlation with the biochemical parameters, the exams were verified at the Clinic of Biomedicine of the University of Franca. Results: The preliminary results showed that among those women with alteration in the lipid profile, 57.9% had more than one lipid parameter altered. It was also detected in the studied population that 47.4% consume alcohol regularly, 57.9% exhibit glycated hemoglobin above the reference value (≥5.7%) and 15.8% ALT levels altered. Interestingly, 73.7% present at least one lipid parameter altered together with high fasting glycaemia (<110 mg/dL). Conclusion: Women with more than one lipid parameter altered exhibit other biochemical biomarker (ALT or A1C) also altered. STUDY OF THE INFLUENCE OF VERY HIGH TEMPERATURES ON THE PHISICAL, QUIMICAL AND ELETRICAL PROPRETIES OF THE COMMERCIAL SILICON POLICRISTALINE PHOTOVOLTAIC CELLS
Introduction: The production of electricity using photovoltaic cells is extremely interesting, because it is a clean and renewable form of electricity production. However, the efficiency of the cells is very low due to factors such as temperature, low sensitivity to infrared and ultraviolet radiation as well as their chemical composition. Objective: The main goal of this work is the study how to increase the efficiency of the photovoltaic cells using the infrared radiation. It will be based on the upward conversion of energy, transforming the infrared wavelength into visible light wavelength. The cell will be coated with a thin film containing a lanthanide element. Since high temperatures are used to form those films, this first study concerns to identify the temperatures that the cells support. Materials and Methods: The cells are of polycrystalline silicon purchased from Panda Energia Solar Importação LTDA-ME, subject to temperatures ranging from 100°C to 500°C, with a heating rate of 5 °C/min for 20 minutes. Cells were characterized by X‑ray diffraction (XRD). Voltage and current measurements were also performed on each cell using a standard light source. Results: X-ray diffraction showed that the structure of the photovoltaic cells did not change with the very high temperatures. Analyzing the electrical measurements, it was noticed that up to 500°C there was no changes in electric power. Conclusion: Since the manufacture temperature of the cell is higher than 600°C, the high temperature deposition of the films will not change the original properties of the cells
KAOLINITE ORGANOPHILIC CONTAINING NH2 GROUPS MECHANISMS OF INCORPORATION AND CONTROLLED DRUGS RELEASE .
Purpose: Mechanisms involving the drug delivery systems call attention of various areas of science and developments on the recent years; such as medicine, pharmacy, engineering, agrochemical and materials science, due to several advantages over conventional forms of drug administration. This work has as main objective to evaluate the incorporation of the drug Triaxon® (ceftriaxone sodic) into the organo-kaolinite clay containing NH2 groups. However, the natural kaolinite present very low adsorption capacity of cationic, neutral or anionic species, due their higher cohesive forces between interlayer spaces generating a chemical restriction and limiting the access of guest molecules into interlayer space. Methods: Kaolinite was previously intercalated with dimethyl sulfoxide. The precursor intercalated with dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) was employed for the kaolinite functionalization with the organo-alkoxide (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES) to increase the basal spacing of clay and generate a reactive group to attach Triaxon moleucles. The drug was incorporated from aqueous solution in a typical adsorption experiment resulting in final incorporation of the drug of 21,75 mg/g at 90 minutes. Results: The interaction of the organophilic clay and the drug was evidenced by X-ray powder diffraction, FTIR and UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy. Natural kaolinite showed basal spacing equal 7,2 Å. After the entire process of functionalization with APTES, the even increased to 8,75 Å. And after this incorporation of the drug was 8,84 Å Conclusion: This change confirms the formation of a single monolayer of APTES in the interlayer space of kaolinite. The new steps of this project will be the incorporation of the Triaxon®, performing along with their characterizations, and also the study of drug controlled release in aqueous medium in prolonged periods (up to seven days)
SORPTION AND SOLUBILITY OF ACRYLIC RESINS WITH DIFFERENT POLYMERIZATION TYPES
Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess the sorption and solubility of acrylic resins with different polymerization types. Methods: QC-20 (thermal polymerization) and Vipi Wave (microwave polymerization) were handled according to manufacturers' recommendations. For the sorption and solubility tests, 10 samples (10.0x2.0mm) were divided into 2 groups (N = 5) according to the material. The samples were placed in a desiccator (37o.C, 24h) until constant mass (M1) was reached and then immersed in distilled water (48h) and again weighed (M2). To obtain the constant mass (M3), the samples were again placed in desiccator (24h). The calculation of the sorption and solubility was based, respectively, on the equations (M2-M3) / V and (M1-M3) / V. The data were submitted to one-way ANOVA for repeated measures, and the significance level established was of 5%. Results: There was no significant difference in sorption and solubility, respectively, between QC20 - 15.0±0.2μg/mm3 and 1.0±0.1μg/mm3 and Vipi Wave - 14.7±0.1μg/mm3 and 0.9±0.3μg/mm3. Conclusion: The acrylic resins with different polymerization types did not differ significantly in the physical properties evaluated
“AUGUSTA”, BY SÉRGIO SANT’ANNA. A SEMIOTIC READING
Purpose: The aim of this research is to analyse the short story “Augusta”, by Sérgio Sant’Anna that is part of the work Anjo noturno, the latest publication by the contemporary Brazilian author. The book like most of the author’s works has in autofiction one of his main charateristics which we analyse based on the theoretical reference of French Semiotics. Methods: We first observe the postmodern character of the short story in which the narrator establishes the dialogue between the literary and the pictorial text. The plot deals with the relationship between a couple that meets at a party: Helena and Francisco. She invites him to go to her apartment where they have sex in front of a picture of a naked woman, Augusta. Helena tells Francisco that Augusta was lover of Carlos, the former owner of the apartment and he painted her portrait, but when he was abandoned by her, he committed suicide. The couple feels seduced by the painting of Augusta and, through Helena, who was a writer, the narrator establishes the relations between the literary and the pictorial art. The analysis observes how the narrator associates the construction of the actors Francisco and Helena as beings of literary fiction and Augusta as a being of pictorial fiction. Results: The narrator uses literary language, characterized by linearity, to account for simultaneity, proper to visual art. Conclusion: The narrator, an alter ego of the enunciator, reflects in the text about the relations between life and art in a metalinguistic narrative
UNDERSTANDING THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE FINDINGS OF SELECTIVE ATTENTION HEARING SKILL ASSESSMENTS
Purpose: This research aims to characterize and compare the results of tests that evaluate selective attention skills at the level of background figure, the Dichotic Digit Test (DDT) and Alternate Dissyllable Dichotic Test (SSW) for Portuguese. Methods: This is a comparative literature review research, focused on diagnosis. Data collection is being carried out through the analysis of scientific papers describing the results regarding the ability of background figure, observing the implementation of the DDT and SSW test in individuals with different age ranges and different clinical manifestations. We selected papers published since 2010 until 2017. The initial data analysis took into account the characteristics of the populations evaluated (age, schooling, presence or not of associated pathologies or difficulties in the speech learning and the reading and writing learning as well), followed by the description of the findings for each test, in each different age range and for the different populations surveyed. This analysis will be completed by comparing the information that each test provided, in the evaluation process, relating to their specificity and sensitivity. Results: The papers' descriptive data were grouped in tables and graphs, however the comparative analysis will be presented in the narrative form. Conclusion: We expect to be able to correlate the characteristics and the ability that each of the tests presents and to examine whether there is a difference in the level of cortical activity required in each selective attention ability test
ACIDENTE VASCULAR COM CATETER CENTRAL EM EQUINO QUARTO DE MILHA
As colocações de cateteres intravenosos facilitam administrações de medicamentos, principalmente aqueles que necessitam de aplicações em intervalos curtos, assim como verter fluidos, tornando-se mais rápido evitando a perca do acesso. As complicações mais comuns incluem infecções, hematomas, inflamação, punção arterial inadvertida, rupturas, colapsos e destaca-se a tromboflebite. A veia mais acometida é a jugular externa, via de acesso superficial nos equinos. Um cavalo Quarto de Milha foi encaminhado ao Hospital Veterinário da Universidade de Franca, para retirada de um fio guia de aço, alojado na veia jugular, após mal acoplamento de um cateter central, este dispositivo foi localizado através de ultrassonografia do terço médio ventro-lateral do pescoço, impôs-se o tratamento cirúrgico imediatamente, pois receavam que o objeto metálico chegasse à câmara cardíaca desencadeando processos de perfurações que inferiorizava o prognostico. A técnica cirúrgica exigiu conhecimento anatômico para evitar as complicações como ruptura vascular, o que prejudicaria o retorno venoso desencadeando sinais clínicos dolorosos. O prognostico foi satisfatório e as complicações inexistentes com relação a técnica na qual dispôs-se da utilização de fitas de cetim para garroteamento e delimitação do fio guia no lumén da veia e suturas com espaço mínimo de 0,2cm entre os pontos impedindo hemorragias. O pós-operatório foi composto por terapia antimicrobiana com benzilpenicilina procaína (40.000UI/kg/im/) e anti-inflamatória com flunixin meglumin (1,1mg/kg/iv). O relato pretende alertar médicos veterinários para que se capacitem e evitem erros na técnica de colocação de cateteres centrais os quais podem causar perfurações cardíacas e óbito
COMPARAÇÃO DA EFICÁCIA DE DIFERENTES MÉTODOS DE ANTISSEPSIA PRÉ-OPERATÓRIA DAS MÃOS
A antissepsia pré-cirúrgica dos cirurgiões abrange as mãos, punhos e antebraços e tem como objetivo reduzir a carga microbiana, a partir de agentes químicos que não são tóxicos ou irritantes para os tecidos. O propósito do trabalho foi comparar a carga microbiana antes e após a antissepsia das mãos utilizando diferentes técnicas tradicionais utilizadas no Brasil e as novas técnicas da OMS. Foram testados os seguintes grupos: I - clorexidine (CHX) a 2% degermante com escovação, usando escova plástica reutilizável esterilizada em autoclave; Grupo II - CHX a 2% degermante usando escova plástica descartável de uso médico; III - CHX a 2% degermante sem a escovação; IV - aplicação de álcool 70% líquido; V - iodo povidine degermante sem escovação; VI - CHX a 2% degermante sem escovação, com repetição da operação; VII - fórmula 1 da OMS preparada artesanalmente: Álcool etílico (Etanol 80%, glicerol 1,45%, peróxido de hidrogênio 0,125%); VIII - fórmula 2 da OMS preparo artesanal: Álcool isopropílico (álcool isopropílico 75%, glicerol 1,45%, peróxido de hidrogênio 0,125%); e IX - álcool gel 70%. Sendo assim, em ordem decrescente, a capacidade em reduzir as unidades formadora de colônia seguiu a colocação: VII (99.95%), VIII (99,93%), IX (99,57%), VI (99,47%), III (99,15%), II (98,99%), I (96,39%), V (90,62%), IV (42,69%). Com exceção do álcool 70% líquido, as demais soluções são adequadas para antissepsia, com melhor eficácia a fórmula 1 da OMS contendo peróxido de hidrogênio, álcool etílico e glicerol, com a técnica de fricção, massagem das mãos e sem enxágue
