Get PDFWomen in Love が自己と偉大なる知られざる者 (the Unknown) との一致に基づく「真の自己」の探求の物語であるかを明らかにするために、“The Two Principles” や Fantasia of the Unconscious といった評論、E. Delavenay のE. Carpenter によるロレンスへの影響に関する論考、西田幾多郎の『善の研究』などを参考にしながら、ルネッサンス以来の近代化が培ってきた自己意識がどのように個人の内面を規定しているかを検証した。グラマースクールの教師Ursula は伝統的な愛の観念を捨てられずにBirkin の心を捉えられない。Birkin 以外に友人のいない炭鉱経営者のGerald は何か対象に対して支配の意志を振るっている時だけしか自分の存在に自信が持てない。地位も富もあり、知的生活においても非の打ち所のない裕福な家系のHermione は知識という鎧に自分の存在を守られているが、心の空洞に怯えている。それぞれの人物の詳細な考察によって、内面を拘束している自己意識が他者を遠ざけ、結局、自己が自己にとどまり、他者との、そして大いなる存在との関係を成就できないでいるという実態を明らかにした。Birkin/Lawrenceは、自己の内なる“ a beyond”に目覚めた新たな個 (“a new One”) が新たな一体性 (“a new oneness”) を築き上げることに自己の再生、「真の自己」の復活を期待していた。7P論文Articledepartmental bulletin pape
The use of Multilingual names and Identity
Get PDFMultilingual speakers across world use multiple names living in foreign, second country, or different situations (e.g., Edward, 2006; Hoffman, 1989, etc). As names can be used to reflect, shape and index one’s identity (i.e., Alia, 2007; Makeham, 1994; Nicolaïsen, 1980), this study is valuable to find out the reason why they use multiple names and how their identities can be constructed within various names. The purpose of this study is to investigate how multilingual speakers use their names in different pieces of writing, e.g., letters to family members and friends, emails to acquaintances, bosses, or professors. Besides, what leads to the differences in using their names and how their different use of names represents their identities in the diverse situations. In this study, the name choice in different types of writing show whether the writer is more or less powerful in the relationship with the audience in the power structure. Also, names can be used to show affiliation and distance between the writer and his/her audience. In addition, in using names which contain ethnic/cultural features with particular audiences, the writer is constructing their ethnic and cultural identity within the situations. There were the cases when writers used different name choices when writing to the same person to show the negotiation in the relationships with these people. University education in Corona (COVID-19) related confusion ―Remote teaching and Online symposium―
Get PDFコロナ禍による大学の遠隔授業は、現在、社会問題化している。教員と学生、そして、学生同士が対面することがないまま2020 年度の前期授業は終了した。後期となり、やや対面授業の兆しが見えたものの、まだ全面的な解禁にはほど遠い状況である。こうした状況下で、オンラインによる教育・研究効果は得られないものか、を探るために、日本・中国・韓国と結びオンライン・シンポジウムを実施した。この発想はゼミ生による韓国、蔚山大学校の学生との交流から生まれたものだった。そこに、日中韓の研究者が集まり、壮大な「十五夜シンポジウム」へと発展していった。コロナ禍がなければ、到底、誕生しえないシンポジウムであり、将来の国際間の共同研究への道も開拓された。
現在、文部科学省が、対面授業が5 割未満の大学を公表する方針を打ち出していることが話題となっている。果たして、遠隔授業は、対面授業よりも効果は低いのだろうか。遠隔授業には対面授業にはない可能性を秘めているのではないのか、こうした視点から研究ノートとして実践例を書きとどめておくことにした。16P研究ノートResearch Notedepartmental bulletin pape
On Virtually Free MERGE
Get PDFIn Chomsky, Gallego, and Ott (2019), it is explicitly argued that a lexicon, MERGE (frequently dubbed “Free MERGE”), and nothing else compose a computational system, and that MERGE unconditionally applies to syntactic objects located in a workspace. However, Chomsky (2019) assumes that both the set of the lexicon and that of the workspace are not available to MERGE, without giving any specific reasons. Thus, this article argues that the immunity of the lexicon and the workspace to MERGE can be deduced from Labeling Theory (Chomsky (2013,2015)), which enables us to dispense with the exceptional assumption, in favor of the totally free applicability of MERGE.9P論文Articledepartmental bulletin pape
A Syntactic Analysis of the Lexical, Pragmatic, and Semantic Properties of “Clausal” Nominal Expressions in Colloquial Japanese
Get PDFThe paper deals with the lexical, pragmatic, and semantic properties of Japanese constructions such as Taro-no usotuki! (Taro-GEN liar), which means “Taro, you are a liar!” Since the constructions under investigation are “clause-like” nominal expressions, they are referred to as clausal nominal expressions (CNEs) in the present paper. It is argued that the three properties of CNEs are closely related to the syntactic structure of CNEs and that many of them can be deduced from the syntactic nature of CNEs. Specifically, it is proposed that CNEs should be identified as a vocative phrase (VocP) dominating a nominal Small Clause. It follows from the discussion that CNEs can provide us with evidence for the hypothesis that there is a Middle Field in the noun phrase structure as well as in the clausal structure.10P論文Articledepartmental bulletin pape

Get PDF2020 年から始まった新型コロナウイルスによるパンデミックにおいて、日本においても大きな影響が続いている。特に大学において対面授業ができないため、多くの大学で授業を遠隔にする試みがなされている。本学においても、対面授業が困難なため、急遽既存のLMS を軸に遠隔授業システムを構築し、運用している。そこで、本学の遠隔授業システムのコアシステムであるMoodle サイトが学生に使いやすくできているのかという問題に対して、ユーザビリティ評価調査を行った。その際に用いたユーザビリティ評価手法はWUSである。13P論文Articledepartmental bulletin pape
