Fundamental Study on the Optical Current Sensor System of Mesaurement of Current for Power Distribution Systems
Get PDFFor the purpose of increasing supply reliability in power distribution systems, high reliable voltage and current sensors must be used. An optical current sensor based on the Faraday effect and an optical voltage sensor based on the Pockels effect have actively developed. They have such excellent features as eliminate electromagnetic interference in current or voltage measurement in spite of the smaller size than conventional current transformer or potential transformer and by applying optical fibers to the transmission line from optical current or voltage sensors to signal processing units. The authors have already reported the some characteristics of the two kinds of fiber-optic sensors for current and voltage measurements adaptable to the power distributions systems by using bulk Bi12GeO20(BGO) crystal as a Faraday or Pockels device.
In this work, by using a thin R3Fe5O12(RIG) crystal and a bulk BGO crystal as Faraday devices, the characteristics of the optical current sensors for power distribution systems were investigated by applying AC 60 Hz current to the five kinds of insulated wires (ACSR-OE･OC) with 25, 58, 120, 200, 400 mm2 in nominal cross section, respectively. Then, the current was changed over a range from 1A to 550A at room temperature.
As a result, it was found that when the RIG sensor without a ring core was used as a sensor, the currents in insulted wires cold be measured with accuracy bettte than three percent over a range from 1A to 550A. Also, it was found that when the BGO sensor with a ring core was used as a sensor, the larger currents than 10A could be measured with an accuracy better than five percent, but the currents of less than 10A could't be measured with an allowable accuracy.departmental bulletin pape

A Study of Jus Cogens and Reservations in the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties
Get PDFThe Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties was opened for signature at Vienna on 23 May 1969, and entered into force on 27 January 1980. The article 19 of the Convention is the provision on "Formulation of reservation". It adopted "the compatibility test" on reservations. In this case, States are entitled to formulate a reservation unless the reservation is incompatible with the object and purpose of the treaty. On the other hand, the article 53 of the Convention is the provision on "Jus Cogens". The concept of Jus Cogens is a peremptory norm of general international law: a norm accepted and recognized by the ineternational community of States as a whole as a norm from which no derogation is permitted and which can be modified only by a subsequent norm of general international law having the same character.
In this study, I considered the problem between the system of reservation on the Convention and the article 66(a): procedures for settlement of disputes on Jus Cogens. Especially here, I considered that the former has the "flexibility", the latter has the "absolute character" with the result of discussion in the International Law Commission and the United Nations Conference on the Law of Treaties.departmental bulletin pape
A Review of Middle School English Textbooks Used in Japan: Some Suggestions to the Textbook Writer
Get PDFThis paper investigates similarities and differences found in all 6 different Middle School English textbook series which are in use in japan. The investigation was conducted in terms of the following three criteria: (1) type of exercises; (2) presentation of word lists; and (3) word selection.
The findings of the present study are to serve as a guide for the teacher in grasping those differences so that the teacher using one particular series will know what other areas should be empahsized in class. In addition, some suggestions to the textbook writer were given based upon recent research on language acquisition.
