LILRC EVENT:
Everywhere we look there is someone with an electronic gadget.  If you don't mind driving to Farmingdale, 
on Thursday, June 8th, a talk on wireless technology awaits you.  The registration form is attached.
  
PRELEC LECTURE:
The 2006 Prelec Lecturer is Dr Clifford A Lynch who will present a talk entitled " E-Research and 
Cyber-infrastructure:  Implications for a System of Scholarly Communication."  The lecture will be held in 
the HSC Lecture Hall Five (third floor) from 1:00 - 3:00 PM on May 31.
STAFF MEETINGS TO SPOTLIGHT ACCOMPLISHMENTS :
In about two weeks you will have the opportunity to celebrate libraries' accomplishments over the past
year.  Mark your calendar for June  6th and let Maryanne know your preference  10:00 - 11:30 am
or 1:30 - 3:00 pm.  There will be light refreshments at this powerpoint presentation, rated four stars for
mature audiences!  All staff are invited to attend either am or pm held in Javits Room.  Don't miss it.
AN OPPORTUNITY AROUND THE CORNER  . . .
The libraries will once again participate in Orientation Information Fairs to be held during June, July and 
August.  These dates will give us an opportunity to showcase the libraries.  Either one or two people can 
work at each of these fairs, which take about an hour and a half or less and can offer much to incoming 
freshmen or transfer students.  A box will be prepared to take to the SAC lobby; with items to set up 
including a tablecloth, easel + poster, fliers of info, and other handouts.  The only "requirement" is a 
pleasant manner and a willingness to give the libraries a good name.
Here is the list of available dates/times.     Try to let Maryanne know by the 
beginning of June.  Thanks!
IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW:
       (A question from Arlene Dargis led to investigating campus recycling.)  
90% of a laserjet cartridge consists of recyclable materials.  You can help remove this from landfills by 
applying the label (SEE ATTACHED DOCUMENT) to the outside of the box.  Don’t send it back to the 
manufacturer, instead send it to Stony Brook's Dept. of Recycling and Resource Management.
The campus gets credit for its cartridge recycling efforts and the money is used to provide for supplies 
needed by the campus to collect refuse and provide for costs associated with Earthstock.
