PERSONNEL NEWS:
Clara Tran, one of the night team staff, just finished her MLS degree.  Congratulations Clara!  
Clara Tran completed a Master's in Library and Information Science at the Palmer School of Library and 
Information Science at C.W. Post campus of Long Island University.  
WELCOME ABOARD to Susan Lieberthal - her first day of work as Business Librarian is January 26th.  
Look for her in Reference.   WELCOME BACK to Karen Kostner who has been working for a few weeks 
both in Bibliographic Instruction and the Computer Science Library.  Look for her upstairs in the NRR - 
she has a corner office to herself.
ALEPH 17:
In case you missed the celebration last week in Javits Room try to imagine this . . . entering a room full of 
balloons in every color to announce Aleph 17.  The program included presenting gifts of appreciation to 
the crew that worked to make the upgrade possible.   In the gift bags were business card holders and 
computer shaped stress busters.  There were plenty of the stress busters so anyone who attended could 
take one.  After thank you's were given - the long awaited cakes arrived!  Each cake Donna made was 
different; a couple included liquor.  We applauded Donna, who then mentioned she enjoyed the 
preparation, but does not plan to go into the bakery business in the near future!
As the writing on one of the cakes read - DoIT Did It.  We thank them for it.

guide us in an informal discussion and include a demonstration using a laptop.   IF YOU PLAN TO 
ATTEND SEND AN E-MAIL TO MARYANNE.

Web Content:  Blogs & Wikis" on Friday, February 10, 3:00 - 4:00 pm in Classroom 2 within the Health 
Sciences Library.  Call 4-3099 if interested, as class size is limited to 20. 
FROM CAMPUS ANNOUNCEMENTS:  (Eleventh University Senate Survey)
Sometimes we have so much in our IN box that we miss the announcements . . . 
The University Senate is conducting another survey among the faculty and professional staff in 
order to determine priority concerns for the University. A similar survey was conducted in 2003, 
so we will be comparing results with the previous survey to determine changes in campus 
attitudes and perceptions. All responses are non-attributable, and are only summarized at the 
highest organizational level (e.g., College).
This year, the survey is available only on-line at 
http://naples.cc.sunysb.edu/DoIT/senatesurvey.nsf/survey
Please take the time to respond. The survey should take only about 15-20 minutes to complete, 
and a high response rate will make the results more meaningful.
