MIND AND SPIRITS:
We are having a program with a French twist - featuring Helene!  The details follow.
Don't miss this one.  There will refreshments as we usually add 'spirits' to these events.
Donations are requested:  wine, soda, cheese, crackers, fruit (fresh/dried).  Let Maryanne
know if you are attending and can donate an item. 
There is a change in date first of all.  The new date is February  27.
(The original date, Feb. 22nd, is a holiday and some staff are not going to be at work.)
Time:  3:00 - 4:00 pm
Place:  Javits Room
Some Background:
Hélène Volat received a grant from the French government last year to conduct research at the
Abbaye d'Ardenne  in Normandy from December 18, 2006 to January 16, 2007. She will do
a presentation on her project, co-authored with Robert Harvey and Bernard Alazet, entitled
Les Ecrits de Marguerite Duras and forthcoming in 2008 with the Institut Mémoire de l'Edition
Contemporaine (IMEC). She will show slides of the XIIth century Abbaye d'Ardenne, now a
research center set in bucolic Normandy and just a few miles from the beaches where the
Allied Invasion began on June 6, 1944.
