Living in “Smart Cities and Green World”
Every day we face fast development and technology appliance in each field of industry and our everyday life, with the focus of maximization of its service to people. Therefore, a special importance has been particularly given to the construction of "smart cities". This paper will support the idea of creating and usage a network that connects all the key points of human activities as the basis of a "smart" city, focusing on renewable energy, specifically solar one, to carry out these activities that a person performs throughout a full day. We are based on two features, "smart" and "green", which will include the electricity supply of the apartment and coverage of any of its indoor activities, street lighting, charging of electric cars and education on reducing pollution levels on nature.First of all, we will focus on presenting all the elements of this network, whose basis are photovoltaic modules, then we will introduce the creation of photovoltaic plants based on respective standards for their resistance to wind, with materials that do not pierce existing buildings and do not pollute the environment. Last but not least, based on the evaluation of collected results we recommend the effective ways of using photovoltaic systems in open spaces. We can mention lots of benefits by living in smart cities and green world, but most important would be the fact that we are going eco-friendly for the environment and creating economic development and jobs in ICT technology and other engineering fields. So, it’s obvious as it implicates and affects the whole society and it is a productive and green way to smart the living in a safe and green world
Smart and connected cities in Pennsylvania: a multi-case study
The objective of this study is to describe two Pennsylvania cities\u27 unique approaches to smart and connectedtechnology design and implementation around mobility, public safety, and sustainability.Harrisburg and Pittsburgh are emerging leaders implementing their unique smart and connected approach.
These two cities are undergoing a physical, technological, and demographic transformation, which impacts social and economic issues. As a result, many distinct aspects and elements of these cities play an increasingly important role in defining the quality of life of the diverse citizenry.
Cities depend on newer and emerging technologies, such as smart streetlights, autonomous vehicles, electric vehicles, shared mobility, and the Internet of Things(IoT) connected devices to improve health, safety, general welfare, and quality of life for citizens. Moreover, in smart cities, citizens\u27 activities are not limited to their homes.Thus, smart spaces need to connect the smart city to the smart home seamlessly into a smart home concept [1].
The smart and connected cities concept is defined and visualized differently by each city depending on the context, needs and funding. As a result, each city initiates intelligent technology strategies, tools, and partnerships in its approach to developing and implementing the parameters that frame a just, equitable, and inclusive smart city.
This multi-case study describes each city’s smart city and connected goals, successes and challenges to answer the research question: How has Pittsburgh and Harrisburg defined and implemented the concept of Smart City to better manage its emergent needs as a result of changing demographics
Yogyakarta Spatial Planning: Review from the Special Regulation of Yogyakarta
In making spatial planning rules in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, the Regional Regulation (perdais) on Spatial Planning refers to Law No. 26 of 2007 on national spatial planning and DIY Provincial Regulation No. 2 of 2010 concerning the RTRW of DIY Province 2009-2029. The establishment of special rules regarding Spatial Planning of Sultanate Land and Duchy Lands is regulated in Special Regional Regulation No. 2 of 2017 concerning Spatial Planning of Sultanate Land and Duchy Land. This rule governs privileges in spatial planning, especially spatial planning related to Sultanate land and Duchy lands found throughout the DIY region. In addition, this regulation also regulates the spatial functions of the Sultanate and Duchy lands aimed at the maximum for the development of culture, social interests, and public welfare. The concept of spatial planning developed in the Perdais on Spatial Planning of the Sultanate and Duchy Lands is cultural, spatial planning, which is not the same as the spatial concept in western literature, which has been the reference for spatial planning. In-Law number 13 of 2012, it is explicitly stated that spatial planning in the Perdais is directly related to the land of the Sultanate and Duchy. But in the concept of thinking, the idea\u27s substance covers the spatial planning of the DIY region comprehensively. Wise Governance – Elements of the digital strategies of municipalities
The innovation fields of municipalities are based on the creation of added value for the local population by creating a portfolio of digital implementation projects as a "proof of concept".
The Objective of the research project is focussed on answers to the questions of Strategies on multi-time acceptable and responsible governance standards in a portfolio of data-based, bureaucracy-reducing and trend-based topics.
The Prior work serves the elements of Open Data, Public Value Modeling, Business Process Optimization, Public Corporate Responsibility and Digital Leadership in a holistic orientation question of municipal departments.
The Approach are adjusting screws in the interaction of control options from the spectrum of local governance. Between different surveys there are relationships and effects.
The Results show that basic prerequisites at the level of values, competencies and management are necessary in order to effectively implement targeted instruments of digital transformation in everyday life. Transparency tools and creativity technology support the introduction of targeted governance.
The Implications of this interdisziplinary project should give an impact to academics in the public management and data sciences as well as specialists of leadership and strategic management. For practioneers and leaders of municipalities the possibilities of wise governance should get visual.

Inter-organizational collaboration during emergency response: A case study of 2016’s Hurricane Matthew in Haiti
This paper aims at exploring inter-organizational collaboration during emergency response at local level. Specifically, this paper analyzes collaborations between public, private, and non-governmental organizations that evolved in response to 2016 Hurricane Matthew, in Haiti. While governments play a large role in responding to disasters and managing recovery, many disasters are far too large and complex to handle by themselves. That’s where inter-organizational collective action comes to assist and support the relief of the victims. However, considering how problematic disaster collective response action was during the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, this study is guided by the desire to explore what exactly was accomplished on the ground during Hurricane Matthew in terms of efficiency and satisfaction. Moreover, the use of communication and information is also investigated. Research findings revealed that: a) the destruction of information infrastructures hampered communication efficiency; b) the Directorate for Civil Protection (DPC) failed as main national disaster agency to coordinate all the sectors; c) and finally, a lack of leadership and trust were found between involved organizations. The author recommends the use of smart technologies to enhance communication structure, and advocates for a new collaborative culture built on trust and transparency between stakeholders
Tourism Management System in Mongolia: the Case of Gorkhi-Terelj National Park
International tourism in Mongolia is in modern term still in its infancy. The first international visitors arrived in 1994, when visas were finally available to international tourists. For all its socialist period, from 1924 until 1992, Mongolia was closed to the outside world. Today Mongolia is, measured by Gross Domestic Product (GDP), one of the poorest nations on earth. The primary foreign exchange earner of Mongolia is the export of minerals. Tourism is increasingly important to the national economy, providing not only hard currency earnings but also desperately needed employment. Stated government policy is the future development of tourism, especially the increase in foreign visitors and the contribution tourism makes to the national economy. Tourism sector in Mongolia is strongly characterized by lack of skilled staff at different levels, affected also by high seasonality of Mongolian tourism sector. Lack of knowledge and skills is a problem that goes throughout the whole tourism sector, from the management level, to the operational staff. Training opportunities in Mongolian tourism sector are limited also by lack of professional training institutions with training programs prepared on the basis of existing training needs. The staff cannot satisfy tourists needs if there is no or bad understanding between them. Goods and services will be improved with skilled labors. This research purpose is to investigate and determine the effectiveness of tourism management system of Mongolia via the review of Gorkhi-Terelj National Park. Tourism management system of Mongolia is examined with three key variables which are: information, resource management, inter-organizational collaboration. In-depth interviews with 4 policy stakeholders with different backgrounds serve as the research method. A look at the city of Fortaleza from the perspective of NBR ISO 37120:2017
This article presents, for the city of Fortaleza, the result of the indicators of five of the seventeen sections of the standard NBR ISO 37120:2017 - “Sustainable Development of Communities - Indicators for urban services and quality of life" which establishes an international standard of key indicators and encourages communities to become more proactive, ensuring that stakeholders develop and implement a management system suited to the needs of each region. This standard, launched in 2014, defines the methodology for a set of 100 indicators, divided into 17 sections, which address social, environmental and economic aspects of cities. The five sections chosen for this work were: education, health, security, shelter and transport, since they are key areas for the development of any city. Fortaleza\u27s results, in each of these sections, are discussed and compared with those of 58 other cities available through the World Council on City Data (WCCD) database. It is, therefore, an unprecedented study, since there is no related work in the literature for the chosen city. As a result, it can be seen that, of the 31 indicators evaluated in this work, Fortaleza was below the average of the cities certified by the WCCD in 19 indicators, above the average in 7 indicators and it was not possible to calculate another 5 indicators. It is also evident that in all the sections studied there are critical points that must be evaluated by the public power for the treatment and consequent improvement of urban services and quality of life of the population of Fortaleza
A unified methodology in the application of the comparative approach - the necessity of buildings valuations in Albania
As real estate is one of the most valuable assets of any state and any individual, the valuation process takes on a special significance. Valuations are required of different interests in different types of property for different purposes. Among the methods used to determine the value of a property, the simplest and most direct method of valuation is direct comparison. The method is based on comparing the property to be valued with similar properties and the prices achieved for them, and allowing for differences between them to determine the market value. The art of the comparison method is the discovery of relevant data and the subsequent analysis. Comparison can be defined as ‘the act of comparing’ and to compare as “to examine in order to observe resemblances or differences”. As property is unique, no two are truly the same, the problem lies in the adjustment to be made to the comparable to fit the property being valued.
Are known and accepted (within certain limits) the differences in the values reported by different appraisers for the same property and for the same purpose of valuation , but daily contacts with appraisers and appraisals prove that there are significant differences in the reported values. These changes are not simply the result of judgments of different appraisers, but mainly the result of changes in the methodologies used for evaluation.
In this perspective the paper proposes the use of a unified methodology in the application of the direct comparison method in order to narrow such differences. The study includes residential and commercial buildings in the Tirana City
Smart societies, gender and the 2030 spotlight - are we prepared?
Smart societies cannot develop without adequate human and social capital nourished by the accumulation of knowledge. Today this process is driven by the new information and communications technologies. While digitisation is permeating all areas of life, it has become clear that technological revolution is not just a purely technical (or economic) process, but also a social one and it is not gender-neutral. Technology can help women and girls access new opportunities, means of expression and channels for participation. However, technological boom can also cause imbalances in the convergent environment. People will need a variety of skills to be able to contribute on an equal footing to the digital transformations but these skills are not equally distributed across all social groups. Debates nowadays extend even further to encompass artificial intelligence and experts have repeatedly underlined that advanced automation technologies can bring about not only great opportunities for humanity but also risks. Challenges can stem from the accelerated use of artificial intelligence without respecting such categories like gender, ethnic and socioeconomic diversity. International bodies raise the admonition that “transparency and accountability for the data behind AI is critical to reducing bias, but very difficult to govern or enforce.” The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) [1] embody a human rights’ based roadmap for progress that is sustainable and leaves no one behind. Achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment is a crucial goal among others in this important set of priorities for humanity. Only by ensuring the rights of women and girls across all the goals will we get thriving economies, a sustaining environment now and for future generations and genuine social inclusion for a smart society.The article will present a new elaborated version of the summary of the research on gender issues in the converged environment done in the period 2018 – 2020 within the EC COMPACT project
Smart dwellings. Architectural perspectives opened by COVID-19 pandemic
Preamble: The pandemic with COVID-19 that we have been experiencing globally for almost one year now brings continuous challenges on many levels, the built environment being an important one. Social distancing meant that during this period housing has been requested differently, first as a shelter, now as a space in which we have to work or learn. Objectives: The research aims to identify dwellings parameters that need reconsideration from the pandemic experience with COVID-19, how these can be adjusted in order to meet safety and comfort requirements to ultimately maintain well-being. Prior work: The paper investigates the latest written documents on the influence of the pandemic with COVID-19 on the built environment, including published articles, peer-reviewed articles, digital blog posts, expert opinions. Approach: The research is of narrative review type and interdisciplinary investigation of the specialized literature but at the same time it is also a reflection of the personal experience of the authors during COVID-19 pandemic. The following parameters of the home are analyzed: areas, dimensions, functions, finishes, accesses, lighting, relationship with the outdoor. Results: Health, safety and comfort are 3 aspects that were tested during the quarantine period and are essential when we talk about housing and pandemic dwellings. It is estimated that there will be changes in the design of new residential buildings, collective and individual. Homes will need versatility, more generous spaces, functional expansions so as to cover both living and work or learning areas. There is talk of a living architecture but at the same time of touchless technology. The post-pandemic COVID-19 architecture will emphasize the user\u27s well-being, but with much more emphasis on safety issues. Implications: The challenges of the pandemic will influence the design process with possible changes in regulations, with an impact on architects, verification requirements, and contractors but also costs for the beneficiary. The architecture of post-pandemic housing will be an interdisciplinary collaboration between architect and specialists such as medical doctor, biologist, psychologist, engineers. Value: The paper highlights the importance of the need for an interdisciplinary approach in the design of housing, a new aspect catalyzed by the pandemic with COVID-19
