    Disruptively regional: How women in Regional, Rural and Remote communities ‘imagine’ with and through digital and social media

    Too often, regional, rural and remote cities and towns are configured in deficit to the metropolis.  As local newspapers have closed, how are local stories gathered, understood, published and disseminated?  The objective of this article probes how women leaders in the media industries deploy their lived experiences to re/shape, reimagine and sustain regional, rural and remote life through digitizing community leadership. We explore how technology provides new opportunities to share stories of women’s strength and capacity to build new pathways between information and citizens.  Using original interviews, we investigate how women in these locations use the internet and digitization to share stories of their communities and culture to metropolitan environments in the absence of truly local news outlets, bypassing traditional news media and taking control of how their stories are told. This approach to the research demonstrates that alternative modes of ‘writing back’ are emerging.  Certainly, analogue injustices overlay digital inequalities. However, the opportunities and potential for resistance and interventions are revealed and disseminated the courage, direction and gumption of women summoning a different mode of media leadership that is critiques and transforms traditional models of ownership, production, and consumption.  The implications of this paper are important, as we offer a fresh model to think about regional media and regional media leadership.  Yet the value of this research transcends media, summoning a model of social, cultural, and economic transformation, through digitization, disintermediation and deterritorialization

    Since 2009 when the first cryptocurrency Bitcoin began to be inserted into the market of electronic currencies, today in 2023 there are more than 19,850 electronic cryptocurrencies [1]. According to information from the coinecko website, the cryptocurrency market has expanded dramatically from a market capitalization of 1millionin2013to1 million in 2013 to 3 trillion in November 2021 [2]. Referring to the latest statistical data, 3 are the cryptocurrencies that rule the e-commerce market in November 2023, Bitcoin,Ethereum AND Tether USDt [3]. Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is a growing trend in the restructuring of business processes, combined with digital transformation. This technology can be applied in different areas of business processes and by organizations from any activity sector [4].With continuous advances in automated processes through RPA, mechanisms involving Artificial Intelligence (AI) were incorporated to influence real-life decision-making [5]. Artificial Intelligence (AI) allows improving the accuracy and execution of RPA processes in extracting information and recognizing, classifying, predicting and optimizing processes [6].Nowadays, artificial intelligence is affecting the way people process computer data, televisions have started to create avatars that they use for news reporting. In this paper we will study the impact that the use of automatic sale and purchase of electronic cryptocurrencies can have using IPA and RPA and the possibility of this process being realized through this process

    Digital advertising in smart cities – methods for raising consumer engagement

    The paper discusses the opportunities that lie before digital advertising in smart cities and how its effectiveness could be raised through engaging consumers. The theoretical framework of visual attention and banner blindness is analyzed, so as to outline the challenges but also opportunities before digital advertising. The main objective is to propose methods for raising the efficiency of mobile ads with regard to their surrounding area. Previous studies are also analyzed regarding digital advertising and smart cities. Through content analysis the main aspects of digital advertising and  smart cities are analyzed, so that a proposition could be made regarding their integration aiming at raising ads visibility and thus their effectiveness. Key component of user engagement regarding mobile advertising is interactivity. It is found to play a vital role in negating the effects of banner blindness. It also enables users to turn the ads into viral ones and thus raise brands’ awareness. The paper could be of interest to practitioners, academicians and students in the field of marketing, advertising, sales promotion and brand communication

    Smart life and sustainable development: a comparative analysis on energy and water efficiency in China and the EU

    Smart life relies on huge volumes of data analysis, which makes data centers become important infrastructure in smart city areas. Nowadays, data centers are constructed in many countries and have become increasingly large electricity consumers. The consumption of electricity is caused not only by the servers of data centers but also by the cooling systems. Meanwhile, data centers also demand water - cooling methods, which result in water consumption. As for sustainable development, water and energy consumption are huge challenges. Laws and rules are necessary for utilizing efficiently relevant sources. This paper will analyze China and the European Union (EU) as two examples of jurisdictions to compare how the governments regulate the construction of data centers to implement the thrift of electricity and water. In China, provinces and cities established diverse regulations based on their different natural and climate conditions, thus there is not a uniform model for the implementation in the country. In the EU, the amendment of Energy Efficiency Directive seeks to establish common policies. The difference of rules in these two jurisdictions reflects that China and the EU have their own principles and objectives: China attempts to balance the demand of developing smart city infrastructures and the consumption on natural resources, but the EU has strong ambition on low carbon emission in the whole Union. However, the two jurisdictions still have a common goal to maximize the efficiency of water and electricity consumption which is a fundamental issue for accelerating the transition towards sustainability

    Implementation of mathematics model in public health: Albanian case study

    This article presents a detailed examination of the application of the Susceptible-Infected-Recovered (SIR) mathematical model in analyzing the COVID-19 pandemic in Albania. The study integrates the SIR model with real-world data, including vaccination rates and population statistics, to simulate the dynamics of the pandemic over a specified period. Our focus is on the comparison between the model\u27s predictions and the actual epidemiological data from Albania, considering reported cases, recoveries, and fatalities. The simulation results are visualized through graphical representations, offering insights into the epidemic\u27s progression and the effectiveness of public health interventions. This study also provides a projection for the year 2024, emphasizing the evolving nature of the pandemic and the role of mathematical modeling in public health decision-making. The comparison highlights the strengths and limitations of using the SIR model in real-world scenarios and underscores the importance of adaptive strategies in public health planning. This case study serves as an example of the critical role of mathematical models in understanding and managing public health crises

    Tehnologiile de vârf precum Realitatea Virtuală (VR), Realitatea Augmentată (AR) și Inteligența Artificială (AI) sunt din ce în ce mai prezente în viața noastră, iar utilizarea lor în contextul guvernării electronice este un subiect de interes major pentru cercetători și decidenți politici deopotrivă. În ultimii ani, am asistat la o creștere exponențială a numărului de aplicații AI utilizate în guvernare, de la sisteme de votare electronice (offline sau online – adesea susținute de tehnologii blockchain) și platforme pentru administrarea serviciilor publice, până la programe de monitorizare a comportamentului cetățenilor și sisteme de identificare facială. Integrarea acestora în guvernarea electronică poate aduce numeroase beneficii, printre care: sporirea eficienței și transparenței în procesele administrative, îmbunătățirea calității serviciilor publice și creșterea accesului la informații publice. Cu toate acestea, există și preocupări legate de riscurile pentru viața privată a cetățenilor și potențialul impact negativ asupra drepturilor și libertăților individuale. Articolul “Promisiunile Inteligenței Artificiale (AI) Administrației Publice și Orașelor Inteligente” introduce o paradigmă disciplinară inovativă, centrată pe noțiunea de “smart governance” sau “guvernare inteligentă”. Acest concept se distinge semnificativ de “guvernarea electronică” (frecvent denumită “e-government” sau “e-administrație"), punând accentul pe integrarea inteligenței artificiale în mecanismele de guvernare, și nu doar pe utilizarea tehnologiilor electronice pentru comunicare și arhivare. Pentru a fundamenta această abordare, articolul sintetizează selectiv cercetările relevante existente privind impactul inteligenței artificiale asupra proceselor guvernamentale și a relației cu cetățenii. De asemenea, ea explorează posibile strategii pentru minimizarea riscurilor asociate și pentru asigurarea unui echilibru între utilizarea inteligenței artificiale și protecția drepturilor cetățenești, încadrând aceste strategii în contextul politicilor publice destinate reglementării digitalizării și inteligenței artificiale

    Decommissioned old factories constitute valuable real estate assets as they are often placed in important positions inside the urban areas, they can be quite large in size and surface and they used to play a key role in the past in the development, economic and social life of the communities. Along the historical value, the sheer size of those “dead spaces” in our times, built according to long time gone size and structure of the cities or communities formed around them or even created specifically for their functionality, give today a new meaning to these structures that can hold a great potential of developing new focus points for the smart cities we are trying to create. For those reasons these buildings are reinvented as mixed-use spaces incorporating commercial, residential, cultural and recreational uses. The latest trend is to focus on the buildings\u27 original features, such as brickwork, metalwork, arches and high ceilings, while incorporating contemporary technologies and modern amenities. Reusing these structures helps to preserve the area\u27s historical character while introducing new life into the community and reconnect old circulation routes between the surrounding areas. In addition to boosting local economies and property values, these repurposed factories also reduce the environmental impact of new construction projects. Urban planners worldwide are recognizing the potential of these structures for revitalizing cities. We are going to present two Romanian old repurposed factories that were a valuable addition to the cities in their proximity, and the story of the oldest oil refinery in Romania that is now in the process of being totally transformed, hoping to bring new life to the city that was built around it.     Marketing insights when shifting cybersecurity technologies to the cloud or hybrid cloud in the context of smart cities

    This research aims to identify marketing insights that can assist marketing departments at cybersecurity vendors in persuading their customers to transition from on-premises deployment to a cloud application when the vendor decides to develop a new product on the cloud and discontinue the on-premises version. With the global trend of customers migrating to the cloud and vendors adapting their technologies accordingly, the need for such marketing insights in developing a strategic marketing plan is evident. Its purpose is to deter customers from abandoning the service and switching to competitors offering on-premises solutions. Previous studies indicate that the global rise in customer migration to the cloud is primarily driven by cost savings and efficiency. However, other studies have shown that while vendors develop and adjust their technologies for the cloud, many organizations are not yet ready for such a shift and prefer to maintain on-premises deployments. There is also an extensive body of literature that describes challenges related to security concerns, small organizations unprepared for migration, regulatory readiness, and issues with training and resource availability. Moreover, numerous cybersecurity research papers, frameworks, and methodologies are associated with cloud adoption. In this research, a qualitative analysis is conducted through in-depth interviews with 13 security professionals, focusing on a case study of active defense cybersecurity. Through the use of content analysis and thematic analysis, we aim to identify the primary themes that will contribute to a more comprehensive future model for researching and explaining consumer behavior during the transition of cybersecurity technologies from on-premises to the cloud or a hybrid cloud environment

    Integrated European – level measures regarding artificial intelligence in relation to human rights

    This paper explores the integrated measures adopted at the European level to regulate the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in order to ensure that human rights are respected and protected. The influence of artificial intelligence in various domains, from the economy to social life, has grown considerably. With this in mind, the European Union (EU) has developed a legislative and regulatory framework to enable the use of these advanced technologies without prejudice to human dignity, fundamental freedoms and human rights. This includes the implementation of a risk-based approach, which classifies AI applications according to their potential impact on individual rights and freedoms. In addition, the EU promotes training and education on the ethical use of AI. Improving the digital skills needed in Europe is essential so that citizens can benefit from new technologies to their advantage and avoid their potential pitfalls. The research underlines the importance of a formal framework leading to an AI-based ecosystem that promotes innovation, but at the same time respects fundamental human values and rights. Artificial intelligence can significantly improve the quality of life of citizens, but associated risks and good risk prevention measures must be considered. The prudent use of new technologies is an issue of concern to countries around the world, which is why international cooperation initiatives are essential to harmonise global standards and promote responsible AI governance. The European Union aims to develop citizens who are able to navigate and positively influence technological development without being affected by their fundamental rights, which has a significant long-term impact in a society that wants to be anchored to new realities but also maintain social equity
